Thanx 98snakeeater. I just really wanted some feedback from someone with alot of experience with HB4H's. After some research hornblasters was the best choice. Cant wait to get them.
i REALLY want some REALLY loud horns for my jeep. Hornblasters in my opinion is my best choice to get these horns. If i had the money i would go with the Nathan, but since money is tight im thinking about going with one of their HB4H kits. But im worried that the horns will not be that loud. For the basic hornblasters kits (HB4H) do you think that this will do the trick? Im really worried that i will be dissapointed. If you could give me some advice i would really appreciate it. Thanx.
@irishcarbomb21 oh trust me it will be plenty loud i got the shocker classic an it really is the loudest horn in my county makes all the big trucks horns sound quite. an the HB4H is a bigger horn kit than the shocker. they just dont have that true train horn sound like the nathans thats why i want a nathan k5la so bad. but im stuck with a horn that kinda sounds like train. but it is a very loud horn so dont think its not loud cause when you blow it for the first time it will hit you so hard!
I only have one question...do you recommend the Shocker horns as far as tone/loudness goes? I think they sound good. I have no room for a Nathan. Can the Shockers be heard from a mile or more away?
thanks for the info. I live in a small town with alot of wide open space. There are train tracks about 4 miles away from me and sometimes late at night I can hear the train blowing its horn at 3 different crossings. They always sound like K5s.
Thanks! I have been wanting to get a set for a while. Hopefully I can in the next year or so.
Where did you mount your tank/compressor, and how did you route your cables? I have a small sedan, and was thinking about placing the tank/compressor in the trunk, and having the horns mounted in my front bumper (which also has a grille, so the horns are hidden, but the sound is not! ) ... running the cables along the bottom of the car, on the drivers side, having a similar switch that you have.
That van is long gone (see my jellybean video), but the tank and horns were all mounted on the within a safari style roof rack, much like my current daily beater (see my wireless hornblasting video)...
The "Conductor's Special" is a complete package that comes with HB4H/Buell horns (HB calls them Shocker S4's now), tank, compressor and all installation goodies....
When I picked them up, I just got the horns and pieced everything else together...
I am thinking about doing this when I get a train horn setup for my truck so I would be able to switch back and forth from the stock horn to the train horn

Like I said before, go with whatever fits your budget and mounting space.
The HB4H's were my first set of horns and I still use them to this day on my golf cart.
Excellent horns for the money and downright deafening!!
You won't be disappointed

@irishcarbomb21 the HB4H horns are very very loud you will have a louder horn than fire trucks do. an 18 wheelers.

Go with whatever fits your budget and mounting space.
The Shockers (same as HB4H) are the best bang for the buck.
If you're out in the middle of nowhere, they can definitely be heard for well over a mile.
It's a different story if you're in the middle of a busy City though.

@98snakeeater ive noticed the Shocker S4 doesnt really have the "vibrating bass Feeling" to it like the HB4H does...
is that true?

@RailsandRoads
The Shocker S4's and the HB4H's ae the same thing.

The HB4H's need more psi (150+psi), but the K3's need more volume of air (large diameter valve @ 120-150psi) for optimum sound.
That being said, either horn will give you about 3-5 seconds @ 150psi before dropping off.
As of now, I'm running two 5 gal tanks @ 150psi for the K3 alone.
The HB4H's are now on my Golf cart with a 7 Gal tank @ 150psi
98snakeeater 2 years ago
Thanx
That tank was 5Gal.
Search for my "Locomotive Tank Dump" video for an idea of blast length.
The K3 is much louder, but you could only tell from a distance as both are deafening up close.

hey thats fkn LOUD
well i got a set of air horns but i dont think there loud enough does the size of the air line matter???? what size should i go with??????
LVNGLOUDTWNCR 2 years ago
Yes, but it also depends...
What kind of horns do you have?
I'm running 3/4" air brake hose on my K3
98snakeeater 2 years ago
well i dont know what kind they are but its 3 of them together and there big ill try to put a pic on here you think its cool if i go with a 1/2"????
LVNGLOUDTWNCR 2 years ago
1/2" is fine for most horns out there.
98snakeeater 2 years ago
how much does that cost?
Davec775 2 years ago
The switches were $1.50 a piece + $.50 cents for each safety flip and the two relays were $2.00 bucks a piece...
98snakeeater 2 years ago
i should have been more specific, i meant the actual horns, i want to get train horns for my ram pick up
thanks
Davec775 2 years ago
The going price for a decent K3HA is about $500-$750 used (I got mine for $400 from a collector)
The HB4H can be found on Hornblaster's website...
