@TorVlogs Not in the slightest. They're very good with children and people. With other dogs, I doubt they'd be aggressive, since they have a very even attitude.
When my Newfie was 3 months old he weighed 35 lbs, my vet said to expect 150 lbs, so I started to pray right then and there and Thank God, he only got to 125. Phew, but loved every pound of him, AND he did NOT drool. AH the power of Prayer! lol
very cute. i would love to own a newfie! since its more likely my mom and i will move when she and her bf marry, this is the kind of dog i want to come home to.
they are expensive, black ones are aprox £1,000, and brown ones can go up to £1,500, but they are the most loveable dogs ever, hard work and can smell but lovely x x x i have two one black and one brown, full time job x x x
these newfie puppies are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cute and i love newfies sooooooooooooooooooooooooo much i live in a pretty small house so once i move into a begger house im geting a newfoundland can anyone tell me how much they coast plz?
@ThePokeMasterDude / my newf Jake cost me £800 (10 years ago ) a new car ( estate ) a load of garden paving (to stop him bringing it inside on his little feet haha ) new carpets and constant decorating ( drool ) but we would'nt swap him for the earth...
yes, they are adorable... our baby is now 5 years old. Yes, we love her, but...anyone who feels like cleaning the drool off walls and ceiling, as well as sweeping up the fur tumbleweeds... feel free to come to my house. It sounds cute at first...
sorry - just saw the comment... Yes, when my newfie shakes her head the arch of the drool from her jowls can reach the ceiling. We can't believe it either, especially since it's flat paint on the ceiling (it comes off when washed). The drool isn't clear either, it dries with hair, etc. in it, so there are swirls of black hair. You also have to be prepared for a wet mouth to wipe itself on you - it's like she knows when we have clean clothes on.
ahahah god i love this breed! but a one reason i didnt get one was the wet mouth cuz my parents are really sensitiv to a clean house, so we got a bernese instead!
Our Newfoundland is 13 1/2 years old! According to the vet, they live longer if their weight is controlled. Our Charlie was the littlest in the litter (can you say runt?!?) and has never weighed more then 95 lbs. I pay around $100 in April and August to get him clipped short and the rest of the year I let the hair grow.
to jamnie i'm happy for you adopting, i'm assuming from a rescue so that's great - but to buy a newf pup from a (reputable) breeder with CH bloodlines and health guarantees anyone can tell you is clearly upwards of $1k. not to mention strict requirements and approval from the breeders on your house, job and everything else to be sure they are getting a good home and will be spoiled and loved for as long as they grace you with their drooly love :)
ha more like $2k + a ton of expenses outside of purchase price. do not get a newfoundland if you can't take care of it properly! we've had Big Easy for 4 years and he is the light of our lives, but I can't begin to imagine how much money he's cost us from training to vet bills to all the spoiling we do and not to mention food, medicine, grooming and daycare!
Hot weather is not good for them because of their heavy coats, and they originated in a cold, snowy climate with freezing waters where they retrieved. And they usually cost around 1000 U.S. dollars.
Oh No! It cost 50,000 bucks in our currency! Pretty expensive huh! and after buying it with 50,000 bucks, I'm gonna spend hundred thousands more to raise my Newfie! Sooooooooooo expensive and in my status right now, it's sssoooooooooo impossible for me to have one! So sad fact! :-(
yeah you're right! They're somehow look alike.. But not sure whether their characteristics are.. But actually, Labrador is my second choice.. They're cute, but not as cute as my Newfie! So sad.. Huhuhuhuh! But anyway, i think i can afford to raise one if I'm going to migrate there in the US.. So anyone who's reading it,please pray for me to get a job there at US so that I can afford to raise a very cute Newfie dog! Please! Thanks!
aww they bring back memories of when my dog was a puppy now he's 8 :( hes still cute.Except he's not a newfoundland hes a chow chow mixed with a lab. but he looks exactly like one!!! except a little bit smaller.
She was 6 years old. She should turned 7 two weeks later. And we don't know what really happened. She had very much pain and couldn't move their back legs.
sadly we had the same thing happen with our approx 8 yr old newf mix back in september. the vet said it was a herniated disc in his neck. we have a new landseer coming tomorrow! I cannot be without a newf
Maybe, to prevent your other dogs from dying so young, go to the vet immediately in case the illness is serious. No waiting tomorrow, the EXACT day you notice these symptoms.
if you do get a newfy really think about it. Do you have a big enough house? My newfie ate to much puppy food and his bones grew to fast for his body. Just be careful of that

$2000 for a pedigree... newfies can be soooo adorable as pups... except when they walk through their own shit... but as soon as they become adults... they walk in their own shit, and then jump on top of you so u automatically become less attractive to the nose and eyes... we have one... he's funny
how much did he cost? cause i live in ontario and i really want a newfoundlander when i move out to my house so im trying to get ideas on how much tehy are
Either someone's typing furiously in the background, or these puppies are in the middle of a warzone.
