Love this. Great work mate. How old were you when you played this? "Feel" is pretty authentic for this version and the era it was suppose to be played in.
I really liked it, but I had to stop watching it because of your hands.
I'm not trying to be a piano snob, trust me. I had awful hand positioning, now it's better; but it's still not great.
It just hurt me to watch. The way your knuckles are pushed down like that. I'm sure you've heard of the ball thing. Hold a small ball in your hand, that's the shape your hands should he when you play.
@ridiculouslie i agree...i dont have perfect hand form myself but his hands just looked so uncomfortable i had to scroll down then listen to the song =/
Really enjoyed the arrangment. So much so, that I've downloaded the sheetmusic and note bashed my way through it. If I were to make any critiscisms, I would ahve to say that there are a couple of sections that are a little bit thin on texture and also that the rhythmn of the last arpegio that you scored and also the inclusion of the final two base notes detract a lot from what, is otherwise, a really cracking arangement. On that basis, 10/10 for effort and 9/10 for the result.
Hey jana, where's your rendition so we can see how it's supposed to be played?? This is really played well. Download the free music and give it a try then we'll see what you have to say...
this song is one of my all time favorites, i grew up listening to jazz, swing, and very elegant piano compositions. Personally i think it sounds better with just piano. so GREAT JOB on this :)
im astonished how quick people are to critisize.., theres constructive critisism and just rudeness ...
i would say, its played beautifully and i never tire of listening to this rendition, it is perhaps a bit fast, but it works well, played at correct time without lyrics could make it boring,
Its played without a mistake, but Im not impresed as I should be. There's no dynamic and I think its getting fast. Its a bit boring, cause theres no change... sorry.
What an awesome performance! If I wasn't watching your video, I would actually think this was the actual QRS piano roll played by the late, great J. Lawrence Cook. How long did it take to practice this?
some minnor mistakes but absolutely awesome otherwise :) i downloaded it and attempted to learn it - not happening this century lol totally fantastic :D

Great job man, it's probably the best arrangement I've seen.

Actually, Gershwin originally wrote this as a real fast instrumental in the late 20's. It was slowed down a little after the words were added.
This is the tempo Gershwin used when he recorded it. The tradition of singing it really slow began in the 50's.

I agree. This arrangement was meant for a piano sing-a-long. as the pianist stated, it is an attempt to recreate the piano roll.

Bit upbeat for a sad, lonely song like someone to watch over me, isn't it? But good playing. :]

Good Job! Perhaps trying it a bit slower would really bring out the emotion in the song
