god all these guys were just so fucking punk. its a shame how much things have gone fake nowadays...people think being punk is all about breaking a window in a upper class neighborhood...or screaming mindlessly on a noisy track...these guys were all about the music, and defended each other and IT.
This may get me in trouble in a forum full of Strummer fans but Joe seemed like a bit of an ass. I love The Clash. I love all records to death since I am 13...but Joe seemed like a bit of a selfish guy with quite an ego. Left all his mates behind, stole his friends' girlfriends, abandoned his band, fired Topper...that's a beautiful testimony to true friendship, isn't it? Probably a genius but not the nicest guy in town. His personality reminds me a bit to another 20th century genius: Lennon.
Topper's still my favourite, this mad me so sad for him and i hope people remember Rock the Casbah as his song. So glad he's better and healthier now...
to that bitch at the end that said they are not punk, punk is not always in the music like the sex pistols it can be in the lyrics its all about saying what you feel
Topper got fucked over even though he was a heroin addict.. he was a big part of the musical aspect of the band and Casbah is pretty much his song in my mind.
yes and no, Steven was on one album and and a ep. Topper was in the band for five years, 4 album( including a double and a triple. Topper was also much more talented..
listen to new unkown bands with new ideas before they become famous and everybody listens to them. when you look at the people at the end of the clip you see that they have no idea what the clash is or was. its the biggest problem for a punk band, when everybody hears your music but nobody understands you
first comment for 3 months. this clip deserves more lol. love it when he tells off journalist. clash had to become american to break america. used terms like 'boogieman'. did it well though!!
"piss off or I'll fucking piss all over you!" my new favorite quote

Topper looked so fragile next to Joe. You can tell he was hurt by Joe's betrayal. The moment they became successful it was all downhill.

It's such a bizzare phenomenon, as soon as any really great English groups get to be big in America they just become complete knob-heads overnight.
