That was right, the 'wide shield' first originated in the late 40's to replace the tall shield with deco script that was used for about a decade before this one, and was apparently last used about 1960 as seen in the film "Ocean's Eleven" with a rather panoramic wide screen 'CinemaScope' background and in 'Technicolor'.
You knew you were in for a treat when the music started up for Warner Bros picture...

Actually they still used the wide shield logo until 1968 when the W7 logo made its debut and the classic shield would not return until 1984.
