I was born on October 8th of 95 and I can somehow remember some of these shows like Yogi Bear and Quick Draw McGraw and Thundarr The Barbaian man my parents and my older sibblings really did a good job of keeping these cartoon around me and making me watch the when they showed them iin october (if they did I don't know! XD ) ha and I even rember all the songs from the cd commeercial!!!!!! XD wow my mom played these to much! XD
i was born in 89, and i remember the like cartoon competition CN had, they had like 6 weeks of brand new cartoon pilots airing, and you voted on the ones you wanted to be picked up, powerpuff girls, edd ed n eddy, johnny bravo, they all came out of that...
the one thing that ticked me off as a kid about the animated Godzilla shows...Godzilla had monsters to fight, but none of them were original Kaiju monsters from the movies...I mean, it's called Godzilla, right? So where the hell is Mothra, Rodan, Gigan, Mecha Godzilla, hell, where's Ghidorah for frick's sake?
@NashTheBlade Most likely the animation companies behind those shows didn't have the rights to use anything other than Godzilla himself, so generic monsters it was.
about the christmas in july thing, they did that thing once in 2007 or 2008. don't remember the year, but that was awesome! i do remember christmas in july!
My son was born in 93 so we watched all the great cartoons that use to be on CN. In particular Dexters Laboratory, Johny Bravo, Cow and Chicken, Cat Dog, Ed, Edd , and Eddie. These cartoons were yanked way before there time. CN stinks these days. No new ones, for reruns all we have is Boomerang!
@cheetahkit It definitely was the latter. Old-School CN tended to overplay these kind of commercials all the time, even if they were far from the target audience of children.
@DarkShadowRage2 most of this stuff was 4 years before I started watching Cartoon network I remember Godzilla and Jonny Quest and the Yogi Bear. I just graduated High School yesterday and I barely remember those shows, the next generation wont know of their exsistence most likely
hey i'm looking for the name of a show that was aired during the 90s. I remember watching it really early in the morning (6:30 or 7 AM) and it featured a real life (not cartoon) guy with funny hair (like an afro).. i don't remember what the show was about... do you know what show i'm talking about??
I miss the sound you'd get when tapes lost tracking...
:'(
This era is so great b/c it's not just the pure & prefect documentation we have now, half of it was built on the gambol and memories of tech screwing up :D
By the way guys, go to wikipedia and type in "cartoon network programs" and you can see all the shows that have aired cartoon network. It was a million of them. Just imagine, back then cartoon network was so awesome that it could hold over 100 cartoon shows, that's why cartoon network's slogan was "the best place for cartoons". Now today cartoon network only has 8 cartoon shows with more live action shit. Just imagine a channel with millions of cartoons like how cartoon network used to be!
metroareatransit is sending cartoonnetwork studios a letter of they should relanch a newer primetime and recreate thoses old powerhouse bumpers and to relanch a newer cartoonnetwork fridays and stuff.send this to other old Cartoon Network fans.
@alphahydrae1 There are several apps which allow you to download videos off of YouTube. Should be easy to find. Everything I have up on my account is everything I have in my personal collection.
Back during the 1990's, CN used to ironically run Christmas-related specials in the months of July and August, calling them "Christmas In July" or something like that. This is from around that time period. All of the dates on my videos from late May-August 1995 are estimates; I'm not exactly sure when the last few hours of my tape were recorded, but it was definitely circa-Summer 1995.
LOL, no. I bought half-dozen or so circa-1995 VHS recordings from an acquaintance well over a year ago. Its just in the last 7-8 months that I've been able to capture, edit, encode and upload them, as I didn't have the hardware necessary back when I got them. I'm just a big old-school CN fan, and the person who originally made these recordings (thankfully) didn't skip the commercial breaks. Unfortunately, I've gone through all of my recordings so I'm all out....got a LOT of stuff out of these!.
Yeah, Carrot Top began doing VO's for CN in 1995, and later got his own weekday morning block on CN in the Fall of 1995 I believe, called "Carrot Top's A.M Mayhem". It was basically an airing of classic WB/MGM/Hanna-Barbera shorts with wrap-around live-action segments featuring Carrot Top.

Mayeb u can help me -after watching some of these I was trying to think what the prime time CN lineup was on weekdays circa-1995-early 96 was it:
Cartoon planet at 6
Johnny Quest and maybe Garfield or something at 7 Scooby doo where are you at 8 Flinstones/Jetsons at 9
Bugs and daffy at 10 and I don't know what was at 11
Do u remember the lineup any better by any chance?
