wow oh wow. I just played Back to the Future and was blown away with TellTale games! That game was so magical and amazing to play through was like a 3 hour movie!

I never gave their other games a shot because I thought it was rehashed click adventures, but since its all about playing with a gamepad and very cinematic I am excited to start playing tales of monkey island today ... thanks for the review

Majestic wasnt a video game, it was an alternate reality game. Which is why it was so awesome, just like other ARG's Ex: I Love Bees, Institute for Human Continuity, (currently still up) Marble Hornets.

Um guys... I think you've ranted about this whole Monkey Island as Wiiware thing quite enough! If you ask me, I'd buy it on the PC. It's better and cheaper. And besides, is it really that important that this game is released as Wiiware. Just wait until it comes out on retail, or better yet, get it on PC. Tales Of Monkey Island isn't a bad game, I mean it doesn't have lame gimmicks like in Escape From Monkey Island. And besides games are meant to be fun, there's no need for all this complaining!

I can save ya some trouble. I haven't played Water Warfare, but Bit Boy is terrible. It's really just a horridly broken Pac-Man clone that has you travel through different console generations.

There's a lot of really clever in-joke type references for retro-game fans to catch ( like re-creating cheesy mode7 effects, or the PS1's load time) but once the novelty wore off, the game just wasn't good enough to hold it's own.

No. You could turn off the option to get phone calls and faxes. You could also specify a time it would happen (not that I ever did. I liked getting midnight calls. It kept the realism alive.)

No it was canceled due to low subscriptions and too little daily content. Trust me I was there the whole time.

It did get shut down for about a month after 9/11 happened...but a lot of things did as well.

there is only one reason why there is lag, poor sound quality and technical slowdowns, its the decompression of a 220 MB file put into a 40 MB file.

But Telltales has imroved it for Chapter 2 they claim.

try grim fandango. the monkey island team created it, but it failed thanks to lucas art's terrible marketing. It was their final adventure game, and its more of a film noir comedy.

The reason the game is so choppy is that aparently cramming 300MB into 40MB causes access times to slow because everything needs to be decompressed constantly.

There is also the fact that the Wii doesn't have a lot of physical RAM, meaning all that decompression can be a bit much at sometimes.

It's just a sad state of the Wii's limitations (And Nintendo's stupid 40MB limit for WiiWare. It should be 100MB) are slowing the progression of WiiWare games.

The developers said, the PC version is almost 150megs. They had to cram all that down to 40Megs cause thats all Nintendo will allow for a Wiiware game. Which led to audio issues and really bad framerate issues.

But even with all that aside, it is really nice to play a new monkey island game again.

It's all the responsibility of the developers to create games with a consistant frame rate, implement quality visuals and sound, and design fun gameplay, not the console. The console only processes games well if they are WELL DESIGNED and WELL TESTED: it is NOT the console's fault that a game freezes for no reason.

It's Nintendo's limitations, not the Wii's. Nintendo only allows 40Megs for a Wiiware game, and the PC version of this game is over 150megs.

Try stuffing everything from your napsack into your front pocket. While you might fit MOST of the stuff in, some will have to be left out and over all, it won't feel right.

I'm glad Monkey Island is on the Wii, but as for the tech aspect, this game should have never come out as a Wiiware title.

I'm sure they did. But Nintendo is very strict with that. That's why most Wii Ware titles are short and sweet and other consoles have full retail sized games for download. It's why Sam and Max had a retail release for wii.

Right now I'm worried they next episodes will be shorter so Wii gamers are happy. If you noticed a lot of the characters look alike. This was a decision by Telltale so it would run a bit easier on Wii as it can't run so many models. One EP2 pirate looks just like Nipperkin.

Have you seen the hardcore Monkey fans? They already moaned at Lucas Arts for not putting their remake on Wii and on the 2 weeks delay before getting this game on Wii the fans went rabid. Most of their fans use the Wii anyway.

However I think this has been an eye opener for them. It might change their relationship with Nintendo. Especially after the jab the dev made at Nintendo.

Are you 5? The Wii isn't the best console but it doesn't suck ass. It has a very limited selection of "wow" games compared to other consoles. The motion controls are frustrating and it makes me miss the gamecube and the only great games are those by Nintendo. Even so the wii can't run as much as the other consoles as it isn't as powerful. My Wii has broke more than my 360.

Still the games aren't all bad. Nothing on their is like Mass Effect or GTA4 but the system is family based. It's ok.
