  • Fantastic record Lou! Thanks for posting! If you coud save but one Coon Sanders record, I'd have to say it would be this one!

  • @2reeler They were pretty hot for that early in the 20s.

  • i have this 78. one of my favs

  • Lryrics(?) I’d like search lights in the night Going to see that snowy white Take a look at my ball, ball and chain. She’s a sunny gem to me Tons of personality Take a look at my ball, ball and chain. We do a huddle when we hit a chair How she can cuddle is no man’s affair. I looked around from Pole to Pole Found her in sugar bowl. Look out here comes my ball, ball and chain.
  • @StukInTexAss ,Thanks,that was great.

  • @StukInTexAss it was fun to sing along with your lyrics! thanks for figuring them out! I may be wrong, but I think the first line is "Eyes like search lights in the night..gorgeous teeth and snowy white" This song is classic Coon-Sanders! I mean, they own it! Nobody played it better, ever.

  • @StukInTexAss Makes more sense than Rapper 50 cent.

  • @StukInTexAss That's "Eyes like search lights". "Gorgeous teeth and snowy white." "Take a look; here comes my ball and chain." "She's a Sunny Jim to me." And again "Take a look; here comes my ball and chain."

  • The Best! of the Best!

  • Joe Sanders, my favourite vocalist in this musical genre.......Parker Gibbs (Ted Weems Orch.) a distant second !

  • @iainr222 ,Joe Sanders is great on this. For some reason I never liked Parker Gibbs voice.

  • @Bigband78 Yes i concede Gibbs sounded more like a musician who sang a bit ( Tex Beneke-like ) .Maybe I was mesmerised by the fabulous Weems band of the late twenties. NOT the "Heartaches " period ............YUK !

  • @iainr222 ,I have to agree with you.

  • Eyes like searchlights in the night!

  • Actually Joe & Carlton both are singing on this recording.

  • THIS was the perfect band for BIX to play with- AGREE?

  • Nope. It's just Joe doing the singing (and don't forget the "e" in Carleton). It may sound like two people, but Joe pulls away from the microphone whenever he shouts "Look out! Here comes my ball and chain!" That was to prevent overloading the amplifiers.

  • Time for "In The Still Of The Night".

  • I have a lot to go,but I'm getting bored.

  • My God Ginny, watch your language.

  • one of best bands ever.....but maybe i'm predjudiced: i'm from missouri...ha. thanks for the post.....

  • So is Rush.

  • Coon- Sanders is pure magic and talent. Excellent!

  • They were one of the best 1920s bands.

  • Nice one!

    Thanks for posting.

  • An excellent band.

  • One of my favorite Coon-Sanders recordings...i have it on Lp....

  • I thought you would like this.

  • Great video! Love this song and the wonderful pictures! Nice "flipping" effects. Oops, that wasn't a curse but a complement!

  • You are flippin' nasty.

  • Noooo, you know I mean how the pictures flip up, but it didn't look right when I typed it! Forgive me!

  • Just kidding, you must be camped out with your computer,or are you stealing time at work?

  • This gal retired early and the computer seems to have some kind of a magnet that draws me to it every hour or so! I need help!!
