  • Love this - very nice work

  • nice work. I Downhill and Freeride are the best sports :)

  • I like this

  • The end credits are delicious :D

  • sorry 0:50

  • im not quite sure what the person drops around 1:00??

  • it's a tyre pump.

  • @pellymore A tire pump

  • Cool

  • lol

  • great job i fucking loved it, also loved the way instead of playing the credits at the end for 5 mins you just slippered em in the actual taking place of the movie. gread idea. 5/5

  • im sorry but half of the film was credits

  • Great Work! I want to make some short films like this. You had all the right people around you... The graphics, sound, composition are all very well done. What do you use to shoot?

  • Wow what an adventure! COOL! thanks for letting us see! Talent!!

  • has this clip been submitted to one of the independent studios? if it hasn't it should be. theres genuine talent in the story telling and camera work. probably time for a paying audience:)

  • I like it a lot. This is the kind of thing I like to see on youtube. It sort of makes me want to go to film school.

  • nice! :)

  • a perfect moment.

    love the "gondry" style intro.

    u rocks.

  • Wiv YouTube...EVRYN(or most)"think" they can do better...so it's good 2 see s'ones work not get 'FLAMED',but actually dsscsd. I like this short-gd filming(soft/smooth),gd editing(cuts out unesessary bits that the viewer can work out for them selves). Sndtrck goes really well too.U can see from this guys other work, that he's doing this 4 himself...and it's nice to see the result of his passion.

The droppng of the posties bag(2me)was a definate sign that he'd had engh of his normal day2day.

  • very nice

  • Ondertitels komen te vroeg! Waar is die postbode gebleven? Jammer van het mooie camerawerk.

  • waar slaat dit op ??

  • tis is saai

  • Brilliant! So well made!!!

  • This is put together really well - have a look at mine, first attmpt...:)

  • *yeah whooh*

    *yeah whooh*

    *yeeeaahhh whooohoooooh*

    *yeah whooh*

  • rofl.

The guy in the thumbnail image for this video looks like the Heavy from Team Fortress 2.

  • Explain someone :]

  • Hi, have a look at some earlier comments, like mine, for a rather long winded explanation!! Or in a nutshell, the postman becomes a racer. Much love, Terry Tibbs.

  • Sorry, I thought you meant explain the plot!!

The comment (Dutch) by emilewildlifer means "you can see how something can happen".

  • kan je zien hoe iets kan ontstaan..

  • Great work, although it took me 2 views to get full plot as I didn't see the "behind tree" transformation first time. Many commenters seem to be film-makers, so I bow to their technical knowledge, which is beyond me! Having recently been in 2 minor acting roles, I now appreciate the massive effort that goes into even the shortest film. It can take an hour on set to produce a minute on screen. So I'm glad that the vast majority of comments here are good.

  • yeah its not easy to see the morphing as its too easy to think its a chase however its chasing your goal.

    i really like it .

some nice cameos three minutes in.

    where is the location?

  • Okay, what is the point?

  • ..really well put together.Having READ the initial intro, it just shows what can be acheived when like minds pull together. The credits-design is great.Plenty of memorable points to note.Several camera shots hit a mome run.Would love to hear details of: recce,local,pre-production and outline.I ask as the finished product shows some VERY creative thinking indeed.

    10 out of 10.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • Nice short film. 4/5

Trouble is, what happened to the postman?

I think there was a split-second shot where he 'transforms' into a racing biker, but that wasnt clear until the film ended and I ASSUMED that's what happened.

    Still, very good!

  • watch it again, you can see as the postman disappears behind the trees, then he comes out as the mountain biker, which is basically him but later on, when he is entering mtb competitions and stuff

  • good camera mount usage

  • Nice Work Mate..!!

  • I hate bicycles...

  • woow..the cinematogrpahy was really good, i liked the close up tracking shots of the bike, and it seemed a lot higer budget then i at first glance predicted, i know how hard filming from my own studies n filming, n this was good

  • it was pritti gud, but wat was it about? lol

  • read the description then it will actually tell you what its about.. :s

  • To those who say "read the description" I would respectfully say that it doesn't explain the plot 100%, but merely gives a clue. You may say "it's obvious", but I've done a couple of amateur acting parts, and in the first one (a 5 minuter), even though I was the lead, I didn't get the full meaning that was in the directors head as we filmed. In fact he had to explain the main point to me even afer I watched the final version!! Then again, I am quite dim, lol.

  • The postman detours from normal route after nearly colliding with first mountain biker. The guys pump falls off and postie follows him to give it back. He discovers he likes riding in the woods, and decides to give up being a postman, and becomes a pro racer. I only realised this when I saw the end credits, with postie and mountain biker played by same actor.

  • u certainly know how to make movies, the movie was brillant..just like somethign out of hollywood... just now you have to make more exciting ones

  • Hi mate, I enjoyed the film, well done. I agree with some of the comments that it was a little indulgent on the credits and light on narrative, but it was beautifully shot. A good piece of advice i got was 'never presume people actually want to watch your video... you have to work to keep them them there'. It's a solid film and the shooting style was the thing that kept me there. Not that I'm Jonathon Ross or anything! Would love to know how u mounted ur cameras. Any vids/pics of this? baz

  • put in youtube paranoia chicken little

  • the filming was gorgeous, perhaps my favorite part.

  • hahahaha like it

  • Well done but the film was a tad too long - I found myself losing interest. But good work.

  • The Postman is cute hehe =)

  • mmmmm... i like it!!

  • Great looking film. Well planned out. I think the point of it got lost somehow towards the last few mins. Still a great movie. I can only hope to produce something like this someday.

  • I really loved the way the whole thing was introduced...

It was beautifully shot, the colours were so rich and I really like the gausian blur that you had on some of the shots (particularly your lead...)...

But I felt cheated by having the credits twice...I mean you spend so long at the start (and in a really clever way) introducing that you directed it, and to do it again after perhaps 2 mins of action makes me feel cheated...

    Could just be me though...

  • Cool, but the actors that cheer him on suck.

  • They sound a bit wrong so they feel unconvincing. Good quality sound design is often overlooked in short film post production. Its a small point but worth making.

I could be wrong, but my guess is that Dave Corney did the best he could with virtually no budget because it was all spent on the credits and the grading. However, I did enjoy the film and applaud anyone who gets off their backside and gets creative.

  • Do mountain bike race spectators cheer in a special way? I've never attended a race, so maybe I've missed something. I have acted in tiny amateur roles, and the cheering in this video seemed quite realistic to me, i.e. slightly restrained English cheering and clapping, relevant to a low key event.

  • I'll want that four minutes you just robbed off me back. I'll never have them again

  • Fitta

  • Severed from his Royal mail shackles he roams the forrest land shunning the conventions of evil society on his mountain bike. He's having a laugh and fighting the system at the same time.

    /sarcasm

  • P.S. he hates it when you turn up and cheer him on...

  • I really liked it, you can tell there has been a lot of work put into the camera angles. Also liked the meaning that has been put into it.

  • I felt raped by that intro/credits with the letters etc, It takes up a fair bit

  • i don't get it

  • That was BikeTastic.

Now get your arse back in the saddle and deliver my letters properly!

    ta.

  • Very well done

    5 stars from me

    DigBreamer

  • Like it. A mountain biking vid witha twist :)

  • Some really nice cinematography, couldn't help feeling that it felt a bit shallow with regards to plot if i'm honest but still a very interesting watch. Keep it up!

  • wow nice camera anlges and special effects!

  • Can't help wondering if those letters ever got delivered.

  • hmm, I can aprreciate some of the camera shots, but it just looked a bit mish-mashed to me, some camera shots looked really professional and others looked very ameteur, the audio sounded really fake too, apart from that though, i can appreciate it as a good short film.

  • really good camera shots. Particularly liked the CU of the riders bike wheel being followed by the postie's bike wheel. Made it seem really natural.

  • That was good

  • im a rider and mate this was pretty good, go the postie bike woot

  • i watched this while having my morning cup of coffee and marmalade on toast before popping down to the postoffice to deliver a letter. It killed 4 minutes wonderfully.

  • Nice, though it feels more like an exercise in cinematography than an actual story.

  • Yeh has real wooden generic feel. Practicing shots rather than exploring plot.

  • wow thats rly good

  • y'know.. im not usually impressed by this kind of stuff.. good job

  • whats the point of distributing your films on youtube? you're not going to get any money from it. so whats the point?

  • i love the camera angles

  • I saw this at the Edinburgh Film Festival collection of short films during the Fringe last week. It was a good film, one that shone out considerably compared to some of the other shorts that were there.

  • hey people! screw you and your mail! i'm gonna be a guy who rides his bicycle in the forest!

  • lol! This postman is like totally rageing against the system. He's so subversive individual-

    /sarcasm.

  • i'm gonna take of this uniform the fascists make me wear. i'm gonna be real. i'm gonna be a bike racer.

what? i have to wear these stupid bicycle clothes and helmet? i have to compete? what the--?

  • Brilliantly made. Welldone =]

  • great shots *****

  • Sweet :) x

  • So thats where my mail is! >:(

  • Technique fantastic. Environs beautiful. Story so-so. Credits unbelievable. Best part of the whole shebang.

  • aye, good execution weak plot.

  • LOVE the idea. I have one tiny criticism though. I think that the transition was a little bit too quick. Maybe a stage where the postman gets a helmet only, then a glove, and then some more sporty clothes, instead of all at once. Still, fantastic!

  • this is hugely impressive!

it's technically competent and I like your style- really well composed- really helps create an atmosphere.

I like how youve brought an existential element to the thrilling bike ride- hope to see more!

  • congrats on the feture

  • Some of the still shots are beautiful. The editing is well done. All in all, a success.

  • Also droopping his bag symbolises dropping hia job.

  • I didn't know this was going to be about mountain biking. There were some good shots, the rider is also very good.

  • wow, pretty good ideas and edits in there. i like your camera techniques. you are a very good video maker. keep it up.

  • Sweet as a nut x

  • aww tom that video was gorgeous dude! beautifully made!

  • Nice

  • v.v.nice

  • Absolutely amazing. Such a professional film with presumably such minimal techniques. Loved the stopped shots on the letter and post-bag - nice touch. Lingered a little on the 'transformation' sequence, however a great selection of shot angles and blending them together.

  • omg freakin fags. frowny face. grr damn u homos

  • very good film five stars

  • that was amazing

  • good

  • nice video but I just didn't understood what was the point on that video ? :D

  • He was a postman and he had a regular life followed his regular routine, but one day he changed his routine and whent down a diffirent path

leading him to something diffirent that he enjoyed

    that was dirtt bike riding

  • lol very good =]

  • nice camera work man

  • Nice =D

  • I preferred the way the film was shot and the excellent editing rather than the film itself.

  • same :D

  • I agree! =]

  • What was this shot on?

  • My award for best short-film goes to...

  • he dropped hes postbag

  • I really liked it! Simple yet great!

  • VERY NICE

  • that was simple incredible enjoyed every bit definately worth 5 stars. Congratulations to all who took part and those who produced it.

  • damn that was awesome

  • Video was tight man! Liked the body cam shots and the motion graphics at the end. Your portfolio is sick aswell. That typewriter piece was very very well done. Keep it up. Peas!

  • very nicely done! .. great job! :)

  • Very well made! Good idea, great camera work and - did anyone noticed that? - really nice sound!

  • wow tom, that is so well done

    :)

  • Luverrly jubbly. Amazing angles and top prod values... you just keep getting better Tom. Cheers from Will

  • nice

  • Great static and moving shots. High and low angles helped to mix it up. How you mount the cam on the handlebars and OTS and then did you undercrank to make it play faster(for the CU shots)?

  • Just fantastic from start to finish.. camera work exciting .... loved the idea.. brilliant.....

  • Mate that looked like fun to shoot.

  • Great video, really enjoyed this one. Thanks!

  • An excellent way to spend 4 mins... great video!
