Question: If you program this and remove the battery for an extended period of time, will it keep the modes that were set? If not, how about when you change the batteries?
I've just purchase a Quark AA² Tactical R5 today. When i switch it on & off continuously it'll stay on the first 3 times but on the 4th & 5th time the light won't stay on when you release the button. On the 6th time it'll stay on again, then the whole cycle repeats again. Anyone share the same problem? Thanks!
Thanks so much for the video! Personally, I think you can read directions, but, when you SEE it done, it makes much more sense!
Oh, and to the haters who opine that the CR123 lights are brighter, why not run a 14500 series battery in it, like I'm doing with my Quark? 14500's run at 3.7V, which is ALOT more than the 3.0V of a primary. And, since this light is rated at 4.2V max, the Li Ion 14500 series is just fine to use!
@4sevens I have the s2 version . The pocket clip will not stay tighten . I understand it will not function if this happens. I make sure i tightened the ring very well but the clip still is loose and my light will not go into programming mode. Should i send back and have it replaced?
@zillsbury ; Hahahaha............another manufacturer fan-boy. Yeah, interface technology is such bullshit.....idiot. Are you one of the idiots complaining that it's too complicated? A blind monkey can operate the damn thing.
Could you make the strobe mode work as steady on when in pressure control so you could use the light more strategically? This way you could use normal light and then switch to strobe (by clicking on all the way) in order to disorientate an aggressor in a hurry.
This is supposed to be the tactical version, right? If you mount this on a weapon then using a twist functionality UI is a P.I.T.A. and could cost you precious fractions of a second when they could really count.
What would be great is if you could program the light so it recognizes button clicks AND twists. Something simple like "Click, click and hold down" to engage secondary mode and single depress/click for primary mode would be a life saver.
Because with a FORWARD clicky, any accidental half-pressing will also change modes. You don't want that in a tactical situation -- you need to lock the setting in one mode (or the other).
Kinda complicated , but quite nice when you get used to it. And it's much easier than programming a Flupic.
trust me, everything with more than on/off and probably 2-3 modes is complicated for non-flashlight people. I see it all the time when i show people my fenix L1D or my nitecore D-10. a flashlight that needs to twist its head four times to get acces to the sublevels might be a nice gadget for flashoholics, but certainly not for the common crowd.
really a great great ui. basically you can have the simple fool proof tactical ui w/ a fwd clickie and bezel action. then you have the program option plus all the options you'll ever need.
you can custom program to any task. they really hit a home run with these series. well thought out seriously.
nice flashlight but the UI is next to useless in my opinion, far to complicated for casual flashlight users. I wouldn't call myself a flashoholic but i am certainly an advanced flashlight buyer. however, i will stick to my nitecore D10 which is my primary (EDC) flashlight and i absolutely love it. good video and nice work though, well done peter.
You're supposed to have the light programmed before you enter into any high stress situation, once programmed it's a simple tail button operated light.
This is the tactical version. The regular version give you quick access to all 8 modes as you are suggesting. The regular ones are in-stock now. Tacticals will be available 6/30. :)
Very nice demonstration. I'm kind of hesitant of the light because I think I would like quicker access to all power levels. The two presets look awesome; but if their was an easier way to select various output levels I would like it more. That's just me.
Thanks for posting and good luck selling as many of your fine flashlights as possible. 4Sevens is a pleasure to do business with.

Excellent video instructions. Worked like a charm. Very impressive flashlight.

The nutnfancy review led me to buy the light and it took me watching his video again to program it. You explained it really well though. Thanks

my quark aa2 tactical does not program. It is the s2 version. Does this one lack a programing function?

I so hate twisty head for modes / programming! :( Clicky Clicky all the way please!. .-.-.

Yeah, I have to agree with vk4akp here actually.

Nice Flashlight. I really like the look but:
Everyone who has this flashlight will lose battery power by programming the User Interface everytime its changed. It´s like a waste of engergy.

You would think that in a high stress tactical
situation you would want a simple to operate light source.
