  • Why are you all crying who's better? England clearly are, look at the world rankings -.-

  • Thats the only thing hes ever done.... right place right time...

  • CREWE ALEX LEGEND!

  • i'm from belgium and i was just born in 1990 so i can't remember a thing of it but sinds i was 8 years old i was roothing aggainst the national belgium football/soccer team XD cus my fav national football/soccer team was and still is the netherlands so great goal platt ;) just cus he knocked belgium out of the world cup XD

  • The reaction of the goalie is better than the goal.

  • Only kidding really...some of those players were excellent and indeed you could say some had better careers than Scifo. Most, probably. He played in mostly 2nd tier 'UEFA Cup' style teams save for Inter, and I don't think you could say he fulfilled his potential. I think I was being deliberately inflammatory in the sense that Scifo's potential was to my mind as big as anyone within the last 30 years, truly immense. A once in a generation type player. For England read Gazza I guess.

  • that's the Man. City coach.

  • Anti-English... the last socially acceptable form of racism.

  • who cares who was better, England scored and won fairly and squarely. People are just giving negative comments because they hate England. (as per usual)

  • Please detail Belgium's midfield from circa 1980 (EC runners up) to this match, and match that against a 23 year old Paul Gascoigne and whoever else you like. Waddle? perhaps. Barnes? Erratic for England. Scifo pissed over ANYTHING England in that period, and ever since (Scholes the nearest)

  • @whipchorus That's total bullshit. Consider these names: Hoddle, Waddle, Beardsley, Barnes, Robson. Gazza, Wilkins, Francis etc Scifo was great but to say he pissed over the likes of any of these midfielders is utter nonsense.

  • united22 - you're a moron

  • Love Brian Moore. Probably the best football commentator there's been. 'A fantastic finale!'

  • belgium was robbed...as in 2002 against brazil....

  • @niczyk Rubbish. If anything, England were cheated out of 30 minutes of rest. John Barnes scored after only 25 minutes and it was wrongly dissallowed (for offside).

  • belgium weren't miles and miles better than england...but they were better. Better keeper, better defence, better no. 10, better midfield. Belgium, IMO, were only lacking a Lineker type figure, Degryse for me was more skilful, but Lineker's goalscoring record was second to none. As a neutral.

  • @whipchorus better midfield, what a joke - gascoigne shits over anything belgium had

  • Pathetic decision by the referee....1987iniesta is the kind of moron who doesn't know anything about football

  • @whipchorus Almost as pathetic as dissallowing a legitmate John Barnes goal in the first half

  • the free kick shouldn't have been given in the first place

  • @reespeer @pmanngw

Thanks guys, reading your comments degenerate into a slanging match made my afternoon, I'm proud to share the planet with you both.

  • belgium got robbed, they were much and much better than england that match..

  • @reespeer It was a pretty even game if you are being fair. One team had to win...

  • @pmanngw oh no no my friend, you are wrong here.. i have that game on tape, belgium hit the post several times en Peter Shilton (G) was Englands best player that day.. does that say enough?

If it was an even game i wouldnt have made this comment.. If one team had to win that day, it was Belgium. That are David Platts own words..

  • @reespeer I have not watched it since - I remember Enzo Schifo hitting the post from about 100 yards out at one point, I also remember a supposedly great save from Shilton that was headed straight at him. But even the most ardent Belgium fan would not claim that they had done enough to win, even if England couldn't claim that either.

  • @pmanngw ok i wont argue any furhter with a guy who was 10 years old that time and never watched that match after again.. and now is TRYING to remember things about the match, only come to 2 facts, when i have that match ON TAPE..

I dont have a clue why you try to minimalize the fact that belgium was much stronger than england that day. England was nowhere.

  • @reespeer Well, I was trying to have a civilized conversation about it, but since you insist on being a complete cunt, let me just say how happy it made me to see all you Belgian pricks crying. Happy that you have done fuck all in football since and regularly get beaten. Happy that you are still very upset. But what would make me happiest would be if you were to be hit by a bus tomorrow and killed. That would be a sweeter moment than Platt's volley against your pathetic nation.

  • @pmanngw so finally you show your real face.. a typical ugly brittish small dicked retard.. the truth obviously hurts lol.. you got fucked in the ass by an american thats clear to me..

save yourself the time of replying, i wont read , i wont answer.

england is nothing.. .. even the Belgium-Holland bid got more votes for WC 2018.. bye kid.. LOL

  • @reespeer Lol at least my country isn't so shit that it can't make a bid for the world cup on it's own because it is too small and shit lol!

England, unfortunately for you, is much much better than Belgium - as illustrated by David Platt in the above video.

I was being nice to you until you decided to be a huge cunt back. Now I will remind you of your painful suffering .. "AND PLATT!!!! HAS SCORED!!!!! AGONY FOR PREUD-HOMME!! AND THAT CUNT REESPEER!!!!"

  • the commentator is the late Brian Moore not David Coleman

  • @Baldaceguy

One of my favourite calls from the legend Brian Moore.......

  • there is abolutely no fault and consequently this goal is stolen but like everytime, litle teams are handicapped against the big ones because of the referees...

  • lol Rabbit Killer russle howard is a genius

  • My favorite England player in Italia 90! The best England team ever managed by a true gentleman, the late Sir Bobby Robson. Thanks for the memories.

  • platt,gazza,waddle,ince...true england midfield genius...today england midfieid just average....

  • Who is the commentator?

  • @expedition16 david coleman is the commentator. best ever by far

  • @dougquaid2084

    Cheers

He also did Germany vs Holland and I love his commentary.

  • @expedition16 Ignore what the other guy said, the commentator is actually Brian Moore. His most famous commentary was on the Liverpool-Arsenal title decider in 1989. Very sadly, he died only hours before England's 5-1 win over Germany in 2001.

  • a great goal by a brilliant player , went on to score 21 more for england , a true legend at Aston villa ........ anyone who thinks he`s rubbish is talking out of their arsehole

  • great goal by a great finisher , a legend for Aston Villa

  • As far as I remember, England was nowhere during the entire game with Belgium hitting the goal post three times. A big stroke of bad luck for the Belgians, who could well have made it through to the semi's again, given the opposition England faced during their campaign. Belgium was a very big team back then that could have taken the championship. It's sad to see where they are today.

  • @bbeirinckx it really is sad but with the new generation they will be better. give us a few years ;)

  • Gascoigne ran inside the belgians player feet that wasn't fair play it was crap play -_-

  • david platt = LEGEND simple. anyone that disagrees must have been watching netball all this time not football so all teh people with negative comments below should go watch him play during the 90s then come back and talk. youtube is full of so much drivel in the comments section it is unbelievable.

  • Shit player.

  • THAT GOAL!! It was that very goal that got be hooked on "the beautiful game" and a villa fan for life! Thanks David?!?!

  • I still hate the bastard

  • I still hate the bastard!

  • Scored this great goal then distinguished himself even more pushing Gail down stairs

  • Im scottish and remember this goal being scored, great goal, great world cup, great times

  • @celticmad66 Football seemed much better back then even if the quality wasn't always there!

  • you let the spectacular goal of david platt and say bullshit ..... whats the matter with you all

  • One more thing. Mr.Santiago Bernabeu, our legendary president who won our first 6 Cups of Europe (and was stolen another one at least) once said: To win, give me an Argentinian defender, a German midfielder, a Brazilian forward and no English player whatsoever. He was very right. We didn't have British players til he died, and they were all a disaster.

  • @mkkm7: You mean the same Bernabeu who said that Ivor Allchurch, who was WELSH, was the TOP midfield playmaker in the WORLD throughout most of his career? The only Brits that you know ANYTHING about is Boy George & George Michael & that's from blowing both of them at the same time! Sod the FUCK OFF, you RETARDED poseur!!

  • Lol. Go get your beer for breakfast in Benidorm you drunken brit. And don't forget your sunscreen or you'll get pink all over in addition to your red alcoholic nose. You surely masturbate dreaming of George Michael's arse and hips moving. You make more gays per squared meter than any other country in the World. See you in South Africa, buddy. You will have everything in your favor, including FIFA and the referees. Now let's see who plays good football and who plays like the usual shit.

  • @mkkm7: 1st off, way to just copy my flame, you fucking git!! Should I just bring a tape recorder next time? This is how you do it: I'd rather have beer for breakfast than your fave of Spanish spoodge for supper. Spain could win the next four WCs in a row & you'd still be a FUCK-TARD FIRST CLASS!! Now, once again: JOG THE FUCK ON!!

  • Man, most brits are annoyingly boring with or without alcohol but you are the biggest bore ever. Get a life dude.

  • @mkkm7: I suppose that I should take up your pastime of rodgering 12 year-old boys? The battle cry of the shite flamer who's bitten off more than he can chew: "Get a life, dude." & I suppose that we''re supposed to take your MULTIPLE posts trying to troll on England fans as an indicator that you have so many better things to be doing w/your free time? So, once again, JOG THE FUCK ON!!

  • PWNED!!!!GO ENGLAND WC2010

  • fantastic

  • I loved this world cup. I supported England after Scotland went out

    Still can't believe I cheered!

  • It's the timing of it, England could have stuck Shilton in the box for all the damage it could have done at the other end. If they can afford to stick anyone in the box and as long as a decent ball is delivered you don't need a winner like Platt's, an own goal or miskick could have done the same damage. Poor refereeing IMO.

  • Love the way you can actually hear the ball smack off his boot. Great goal.

  • Absolutely scandalous. In fairness England had a good team but Belgium's was even better. Total last 4 team right there, now we'll never know.

  • Scandalous? In what way? Did England cheat?

I guess that was the last good Belgium side. So good in the 80s, but were never any good after Italia 90.

  • Look at how easily Gascoigne goes down...there's no way Eric Gerets got anywhere near enough on him to go down like that...there's an attempted hack at the ball by the defender but Gazza decides to fall down some time after that, in a perfect position. The momentum and speed of the ball made any attempted tackle look like a foul. Terrible call by the referee, I can't blame Gascoigne for hitting the deck but the referee got it wrong.

  • It might seem like a soft foul, but it only annoys you because of what happened: a free kick in a not-particularly-threatening position was turned into a game-winning killer blow thanks to a moment of magic by Platt (from a good delivery). If Platt had fluffed the shot, or a defender had headed it clear, would you be fuming that the ref had given the foul? Remember: the ref's call would have been exactly the same in all of these possible scenarios.

  • Actually even better than it looks. Try volleying even a slow ball over your shoulder accurately. Incredible.

  • One of the main reasons England hasn't done so great in major tournaments is the weather. Tournaments are almost always played in conditions that are too hot for the high tempo style English teams play. If the majority of the major tournaments were in 5degrees of wind and rain then I'm sure the likes of Brazil and Italy wouldn't have so many trophies and England would have more.

  • Absolutely correct.

  • Brilliant, remember it like it was yesterday, was in Italy at the time but not at the game, good times!

  • I don't like talking about the fact I used to play for Real Madrid, though. Especially in such a prestigious setting.

  • I used to play for Real Madrid, now I spend my life arguing pointlessly in the comments boxes of youtube - home of the loudmouthed moron...

  • Possibly the most important England goal since 1966. If we'd of gone to penalties and then got knocked out, can you imagine ? Dumped out by Belgium in the last 16 ? All the good that came out of Italia 90 would have been lost.

  • @TheLEgendFamily: no mate at mkkm7 and his ridiculous comment "Honestly, English players have no technique at all." Was at Chelsea Blackburn yesterday and if Joe Cole has no skill then it'd be hard to say any player in world has skill!

  • Oh my god I remember that goal like it was yesterday!! Brilliant!

  • remember john aldridge(sociedad) or gary lineker{barca) failures???technically the two best players to ever play in spain were both northern european - cruyff and laudrup and that is *ucking fact and anyone who knows anything about football knows i am correct.

the 2 current best players in esp are probably messi and ronaldo, then ibra and henry - messi has been outstanding for 3 years but so was lee sharpe!!!henrys technique was honed in epl as ronaldo and ibras scandinavian. kaka a new arrival

  • with all due respect mkkm7, why dont you watch football for another 10 - 15 years and then give us your opinions because you are simply clueless - the whole point of your argument is that technique matters, and it does - along with other qualities; but technique isnt an exclusive club for latins - they have a different approach to the game thats all and thats fine because this part of the world will always throw up a george best - better than any iberian player EVER!!!

  • "think of torres, fabrega or alonso who are secondary in spain" -what the *uck are you on about !!!!!!barca or madrid would take them at the drop of a hat.

albert luque was success at mallorca and flopped at newcastle - and marcelino; forlan was useless at utd and then got the pichichi - raul never moved from madrid because he knew he'd be found out and puyol who is regarded as one of the best defenders in la liga is technically useless - but the catalans dont mind .

  • by the ways rooney and gerrard would WALK onto the current esp team as would ashley cole, r ferdinand, terry as spain have poor defence.you also mentioned esp players success in epl but so many failures too. f torres is successful because he's actually a very unspanish player he's more like klinsmann or van basten than raul or butragueno.

  • this game works in cycles - you have torres and villa who are class- not long it was julius salinas. la liga owes most of its success to foreign players and for lot longer than epl - going back as far as di stefano and puskas. italy , argy, brazil, ger, france are all crap at moment and this is main reason for current esp success because traditionally spain havent got the balls to go the distance.iniesta and xavi are no better than caminero or L enrique but they were up against tougher teams

  • gascoigne had more technique and creativity than any spanish player EVER and wasnt a failure just extreme bad luck with injuries - platt wasnt a failure - mcmanaman failure??? waddle at marseille technically on par with c. ronaldo and glen hoddle at monaco a superior player than xavi. the failure of brits tends to be adapting to another culture. you have obviously been following football for a short period because your full of shit.

  • I am 47 and played for Real Madrid so I have a little idea of what I am talking about. In any case it is just broad ideas and personal opinions. Latin players are the most skilled ones you like it or not. I can't think of anything more boring than watching a game of England or the Premier league. You overrate your football and your country. And eat this because Spain is the best team of the World now a days and plays beautiful like you never did and will never do. Also in basketball and tennis.

  • I am Irish i'm cheering for Spain in the the world cup but you are under estimating with a hint of snobbery players from northern Europe - a lot of Spaniards don't rate F Torres so highly simply because he plays in England. Seriously did you play for R Madrid; are you Martin Vazquez/Michel. PLEASE RESPOND!!

  • Why didn't you start by saying that you are Irish? I am tired of the arrogance of the brits living out of reality. I do think that latin players are more skilled than nordic ones and that it is related to the culture, tradition and weather. No one beats Brazilians in technique and Spain has a wonderful generation. The 3 most expensive transfers ever are 2 Portuguese and a French. I was only answering to those who wonder why England hasn't won anything in 43 years. Because the players are not

  • (continues) that good as they think. Concerning Torres, Cesc or Alonso, they play/played much better in England than in Spain or with Spain and that has to mean something. Lots of players succeed there and fail here. In Madrid we have had Cunningham, Macca, Becks, Owen and Woodgate and al have failed completely. Macca had a salary of 5m euros a year clean for sitting in the bench. He refused to leave. Scoring two important goals doesn't mean he did well overall. As I said all of them (cont..)

  • With all due respect, Spain are, historically, even worse underachievers than England in major tournaments. One Euro championship, and no world cups. Not even a WC final place.

  • Depends on what you mean by underachiever. Spain has always been a secondary country in football. That means not underachievement but reaching the expected 8-16 place. Only lately Spain is a good team, but we never expected to win as the English do. The English overrate their football.

  • People who say that the English "expect to win" tournaments really have no idea what they're talking about. They're not talking from direct experience. They just have this image in their head of "the arrogant English" that bears no relation to reality.

The English expect to compete for places in the quarters, maybe the semis. On a good day, we can beat most teams, but we generally don't have the consistency to beat the very best teams for three rounds in a row at major tournaments.

  • And Spain are an underachiever in terms of the mismatch between the formidable power of their club sides and the mediocre performances seen at international level. Partially this is because Barca, Real etc. buy in a lot of foreign talent, but there's no question that there are a lot of great Spanish players who (until Euro 08) didn't seem to be able to perform to their potential in big tournaments.

  • One last thing is that in Britain (and Ireland and Scandinavia) you have this dreadful drinking habit and players drink like hell. You may think it is normal and masculine but it isn't. We don't get drunk and drink beer all the time here. No offense but a truth, people drink too much over there and you won't find a single case like Best or Gazza. And those were only famous cases for being destroyed for alcohol, but most players just drink too much over there.

  • I don't drink much myself; more into staying fit but your right on that point. I used to play gaelic football (GAA) and after every game we'd drink ourselves blind. British arrogance is part of their culture; it goes back to the days of the British Empire ( they ruled half the world) so you just have to get used to it. Their world cup build up is already starting to annoy me but i have full confidence in Brazil / Spain to win the tournament. Don't bother arguing with Brits - just enjoy your sun

  • You would be right if you travelled back 15 years through a time warp. These days? Absolutely not. You're dealing in long-gone stereotypes, I'm afraid.

  • (cont) As I said all of them were more appreciated for being nice guys than for their performance. I sware I have nothing against nordic players but it is you who overrate your players and the EPL and the England NT. It simply happens that they are not that good as they think up there, and this inlcudes Scandinavia, Africa, Asia and all the countries that traditionally watch and flollow the EPL. Still, with Capello and playing in SouthAfrica I wouldn't be surprised if England won there.

  • And one more thing again. No English/British player succeds abroad. Impossible. In fact many players who fail or are secondary in Spain or Italy become stars in the EPL. It tells something about the reality, don't you think? Think of Platt, Gascoigne, McManaman, Beckham, Owen, Henry, etc. They fail abroad. Think of Torres, Fabregas or Alonso who are secondary in Spain but stars in England. The Brits must go and play more abroad to grow I think. Still, England/Capello is a favorite in Southafrica

  • First of all how the hell is Henry English?

And Beckham wasn't a flop, his only problem was getting himself dropped for months, but he bounced back and won the league. And McManaman scored in a champions league final.

  • I meant stars going abroad from the EPL such as Henry despite being French. Concerning Beckham, McManaman and Owen in Madrid (my team and hometown), they were very nice and appreciated guys but they were disappointing on the pitch. Respected for being kind, professional and working hard but having no quality enough for the team. Specifically, no technique, just decent team work.

  • Paul Ince was a hero at Inter. Chris Waddle at Marseille. I agree that an average Spanish or Italian is far superior to an average English one, but the best of each measure close. Paul Scholes is as naturally talented as any Euro player over the last 15 years. Lampard has scored more goals in total than any other active midfielder, including Ballack.

PS, A bit harsh calling Stevie Mac a failure. Scored some vital goals against Barca in euro semi and Valencia in the final.

  • @mkkm7: Platt won so much silverware in Italy that he had to hire help to bring it back. Becks & Macca were both very useful players for Real. & Henry is FRENCH, not English!! Check yer facts before you go spouting off shite like this, mate!!

  • Becks and Macca were a disaster in Madrid. And they never wanted to leave. Backham was there for the money he brought to Real Madrid but everyone was against that stupid policy of buying a bad player for the revenue he meant. MAcca was an asshole who earned 5 millons per year for doing NOTHING and never wanted to leave despite being asked year after year.

  • @mkkm7: Speaking of arseholes: how do you watch football w/yer head rammed so far up yours? You are the only supposed Real fan that I've ever talked to who doesn't totally RATE both Becks & Macca. Btw, I really like how you ducked my point about John Charles. On English players in the Spanish lge.: Remember a bloke by the name of Gary Lineker?

  • Cont.: He scored 21 gls. in 41 lge. appearances in his 1st Season w/Barca!! Barca won the Copa del Rey in '88 & the Euro. CWC the following year w/Lineker playing a BIG part in winning both of those trophies. So, once again: get out yer map & compass because Lineker is fucking ENGLISH!! Are you going to try and refute my actual examples and points, or are you just going to duck and spew more shite, mate?

  • Lineker is a nobody in the history of Barça and in the history of the Spanish League. He scored decently well and that's it. Those years Barça was a total loser (Archibald, Venables, Mark Hughes...English crap). John Charles I didn't even know him. Too old and a nobody. Never heard of him. Maybe he is remembered in Swansea and Torino but not in Madrid or anywhere else in the World. English football players are overrated in the island. Full stop.

  • @mkkm7: Gary Lineker: won the GOLDEN BOOT @ the '86 World Cup!! John Charles was voted the TOP foreign player ever @ JUVENTUS: one of the top club sides in the world. You either know NOTHING about football or you're a daft git who's trying to wind people up. Either way, your opinion now counts for shit in a shoebox. Read this closely: JOG THE FUCK ON!!

  • Lol. Funny guy. I take you for the classic drunken brit with a red nose and a belly full of cheap beer. You are a psycho. Despite your insults I know a million times more than you about football. Wake up drunken brit, the pub is closing. Go home and sleep your beers. Loser.

  • @mkkm7: Ass Master, I see you know as much about flaming as you do football: absolute FUCKING SHIT!! We all know that the only thing you played at Real was the skin flute! Come on, you bullshit poseur, flame back on me, I fucking DARE YOU!!

  • Btw, It's funny as fuck how you pass yourself off as a football "expert", & then you have NO IDEA who John Charles was! Then you essentially say that unless you PERSONALLY rate a player, they're over-rated shite. Then you go the ultimate twat/Michael Sheen-channeling move & put "full stop" @ the end of your post. You need the jaws of life to pull yer head out of yer arse, mate.

  • @mkkm7: NO British player EVER makes an impact playing overseas? You might have heard of a bloke by the name of John Charles? He was voted as the best foreign player EVER to play for Juventus!! That's ahead of guys like ZIDANE, SIVORI, etc. You might to check a map since he was from Wales, which in in BRITAIN!!

  • You have the best generation of players I can remember and still, one by one, I wouldn't pick any of them for my ideal team. Not even one. Gerrard, Lampard or Rooney are the best ones and still they play classic British style. They have no technique, they are not creative by themselves and on top of it the team never plays ellaborating, just direct kicks, pass and run. Boring and unefficient. Concerning the EPL success, they have lots of foreigners making the difference in every club.

  • I talk about the individual quality of the British born players. Technical skills. I believe that in the north of Europe, the team is above the player as the community is above the individual, so players from childhood are stopped to develop technical skills as opposed to Brazil or latin countries. There is where England fails in my opinion in its NT. Technical skills. Also because the pressure of the media and society in the UK is huge and players are overstressed and afraid.

  • Was there , went mental for 10 minutes after !

  • Rabbit Killer!!!!

  • Yes, a great WC but our greatest moments are a win on home soil and a semi final defeat after a fortunate run.

Compare this to the records of Italy, Germany, Brazil and Argentina and we are mediocre. We are the Aston Villa of the world game - will always give anyone a game but just not good enough to challenge the very best.

  • That is very true, but you have a World Cup already which only 7 countries have out of 200, and now you have a winner coach, Capello, making of England a real favorite for Southafrica with permission of Spain which is playing wonderful. England has a very important league but their football is very primitive, players have no technique at all. Pass and run is not enough. You need skills or the italian option of ultradefense, lots of luck and a talented couple of forwards.

  • Don't forget that England would've almost certainly done better in '58 if the Munich air crash hadn't happened. & England were knocked out in '86 when Maradona spiked the ball past Shilton in the infamous "HoG" incident. I don't know if I really agree w/u mkkm when u say that 3 Lions players have "no technique", though.

  • Honestly, English players have no technique at all. Among wll the big teams they are the worst. I have yawn all my life with the NT of England and English football in general. The culture in that country is to play as a team and be masculine and virile, not to be very skilled and have a good command of the ball such as in the latin countries. The guy who shows skills is told to forget it and play simple, collectively. I prefer Brazil, Spain or Argentina. Even Germany or Italy .

  • Johnny Haynes didn't have skill? What about Raich Carter? What about George Best & Kenny Dalglish (not English, but still British)? In the more modern game: what about Wayne Rooney & Joe Cole? Listen, I appreciate the nice things u already said about Eng. It seems that you pref. the Latin brand of attacking football, which is fine. I just don't think that u r accurate in deriding the collective skill level of ALL English/British players while u r praising Braz.

  • I don't even know who all those players are except for Best and Dalglish, but I only saw Dalglish with my eyes and he was OK. I am talking about the last 30 years or so, and that is just my opinion, English players and English football is low-skilled, they were kicking the ball to the area as if they played rugby for ages, it was horrible to see the British or Irish teams. Now it's better but still not as nice and individually they are poorly skilled.

  • Carter, Haynes, Rooney, etc.: there's clips of most of those guys playing here on UTube. Dalglish is just "OK" compared to who; Jesus H. Christ Himself with a football? Don't get me wrong, I know that u r not an England-hater. I just think that u prefer Fancy Dan trickery & 19 passes in a row, which is fine. I just don't think that's a reason to call into question the overall skill level of English/British players, again, IMHO.

  • Well, my comments were about why England doesn't win and that is why I believe that they never win; simply because the players have not enough of quality despite English fans thinking they do, overrating their own players and league too far from reality. The English live in another World, isolated from the continent mentally and culturally and in many other ways, thinking they are more than what they are. Now, English football players level is poor, and we still have to see one succeeding abroad

  • England won the WC in '66, we got 2 4th pl. in '90. We took 3rd in EC'68, we got 2 the SFs in '96. We almost certainly would've done better in '58 if the Munich air crash hadn't happened. We would've almost certainly gotten further in '86 if the ref hadn't let Maradona get away w/playing volleyball in the "HoG" incident. So, 4 a nation of our pop. & the player pool we can draw from (we DO NOT play as the Utd. King.); I'd call that a pretty respectable intern. tourney record.

  • Cont.: As far as club comp. goes, of the last 11 Champions League Finals, 3 winners & 7 finalists were from the EPL. In the last 12 seasons of the UEFA Cup, British leagues have 1 winner in Liverpool & 5 finalists. British league sides dominated European club comp. through much of the '70s & 80s, and if it wasn't 4 the Heysel ban; we probably would've racked up another 2 or 3 Euro. Cups, IMO. So, again no offense, u can POST that English clubs do poorly in Europe,

  • Cont. : but their actual RECORD in those competitions tells a different story, IMHO. The rest is essentially subjective: i.e.; u say that English/British fans over-rate their league; I post evidence that shows that pride in their clubs is backed up by actual victories on the pitch, in comp. tourneys, etc. It just boils down 2 u don't personally care for the English/British brand of football; which is entirely within your rights 2 do so.

  • That's a massive generalisation.

Did you or did you not just watch that video???

  • Were u talking 2 me here? If u did, Utube didn't send me an alert that u were directly replying here, davister.

  • sick volley

  • I love the sound of Platty wellying the ball on 0:25. Just like it was yesterday.

  • This indeed was the finest World Cup, great memories. Belgium were robbed in this game.

  • i agree with sereomad...this world cup had something magical about it

  • some people say this was a boring WC. I say it was the greatest WC ive ever watched.

Germany were immense. Mattheus, Klinsmann, Brehme, Voller all brilliant but we nearly had them, Waddle hitting post in ET. great memories

    RIP Sir Bob!

  • 9 Years old when he banged this in the net. What a joy it is to be English. R.I.P Sir Bobby

  • Great times, RIP Sir Bobby.

  • My 19th birthday!!! What a present!!!

  • fantastic strike

  • this is the goal Belgians hate the most

  • agree, i'll never forget and forgive D. Platt.

  • fuck david platt

  • Hard to see a free kick there. Gazza had run out of steam, having run 15 yards or so, then he fell over and the Belgian clearly got the ball. Anyways, alls well that ends well, Germany in, England out, lovely.

  • You Twat.

  • You twat. Silva to Liverpool. then all will fall, and Sky wil fall, and Setanta will fall, and Charlotte Jacksons tits will fall off.

  • Fuckin Lepricorn. When was the last time Ireland qualified for anything? And you're supporting Germany? Do you know how many of your ginger pubic haired brethren died at the hands of German machine gunners in WW2 you thick twat.

  • Fuckin Lepricorn. When was the last time Ireland qualified for anything? And you're supporting Germany? Do you know how many of your ginger pubic haired bretherin died at the hands of German machine gunners in WW2 you thick twat.

  • why does germany always defeat england????:)

  • ten german bombers in the air...

  • awesome goal.... 2 ww and 1 world cup

  • england made their way to the semi finals by diving. there was no foul on gascoigne and against cameroon in the quarters lineker twice won a penalty when there was nothing going on.

  • one of my all time favourite goals!!!

  • Belgium deserved to win, they were one of the Tournament's best teams. England had only one chance to score on 120 minutes, as the Red Devils shot twice on the pole (Scifo and Ceulemans).

  • That's one tasty finish

  • Nice goal Platt!!!!!!! Thanks 2 him belgium was kicket out of the 1990 world cup I am Happy 4 that eaven I was just born in 1990

  • if the belgiums had a better defence they wouldnt have let the goal in..oh hang on they let the germans in, in 1939!

  • Actually, the Germans invaded our country in May 1940, we asked the help of the English to stop this invasion, but instead of helping us, they fled from Dunkerque: the cowards. Then England asked the fucking Yankees for help, because you couldn't keep the Germans out of your country without any help from across the Atlantic.

  • yeah i know all that..still didnt let the fuckers in to our country like you belgiums did..18 fucking days you lasted then "handy hock" we surrender.eh think pearl harbour made the yanks join the war! oh and if justine henin is the best you can do for females in your country id rather fuck a donkey!

  • The only thing English vcan do: fight to the last ally.

  • speak english you fucking german loving cunt..ie handy hock!

  • I AM English, cocksucker...You better learn another language. People like you made me leave England!

  • You fucking ungrateful prick, if we'd not gone to Dunkerque those men would have been killed or taken prisoner. Instead they re-grouped and helped liberate your country. Many Brits died doing that.

  • not enough Brits died doing that

  • I'm not going to lower myself to your level.

  • you are far below my level

  • You live in Germany..... you support Argentina.... you don't 'much' like football (bad English by the way)... and i'm below your level??????!!!!!! Whatever gets you through brother, whatever gets you through!

  • it doesn't matter where i live and who i support, you support england, that makes you the lowest form of organism on earth. and yeah: vamos argentina

  • You're entitled to your opinion... no matter how misguided or dellusional. Peace out.

  • Honestly, that PrettyPizzafuckingface is below everybody´s level! You don´t have to support Germany when you live here and an Englishman doesn´t necessarily have to support England. Even though we both know that it usually is like that! That little motherfucker is just looking for advertence - that´s why he supports Argentina. Argentina??? I just can´t understand. I´m sure he doesn´t even know where it is.

  • You sir are a legend... great response.

  • Entonces hijo de remil puta!! De donde eres? Si no eres aleman!? Digame!! Al menos sabes hablar espanol si eres fan de los putos gauchos?? Pienso que solo estais en Alemania para recibir asistencia social - o en tu caso - asistencia asocial!!!! Hahahah, perdedor!!

  • "lowest form of organism on earth"? coming from someone whos country raped and murdered millions of people during WW2? (where u also got beat by the russians)!!. dirty bosch eating cunt

  • i am not german and happy about it. and germany is english spirit's brother in football, don't you know it? both teams compete who is a bigger disgrace to football, at the moment germany is in front, so offset england

  • do your homework buddy ... i think you have your facts wrong

  • And please, Mind your words: Your Queen is German, in fact all the English kings and queens from George I were Germans, Rolls Royce is German, Mini is German, even the Birmingham Christmas market is German.

I really like the English, but please, stop blaming us for the German invasion in WW II because you have more Germans then we have.
