  • jesus, just because something is old doesn't mean you need to destroy it. i love that you're creating something new but have some respect, those cameras are why photography even exists. and just saying, instead of making yourself look like an idiot by not showing any results because the negatives were under exposed. just go shoot another roll tomorrow and finish the video, don't get me wrong, i'm not trying to hate all over your video, just show a little respect my friend. peace and love.

  • Hard to believe this was made in 2006

  • yeah, I totally stopped using my 6x9 bellows cameras as soon as I got my dslr...

  • amazing photos i really like it

  • Good work!

  • i like the one with the underwater camera lense

  • dff

  • what a jack ass what the fucken point mof that

  • i wonder when was the last time he had sex?

  • @SUPERrrCHRIS with a woman... lol

  • film ? --- why ? --- why bother with film?

  • @sasktank

Film produces tonal qualities that digital has yet to be able to reproduce, that is why many famous nat. geo photographers and most fine-art photographers still use film. Another problem with digital is most digital photos all look the same, and its a lot easier to have a more unique look with film because you have to do a lot more stuff manually, such as using choosing different chemicals, developing processes, and different qualities in film, just saying.

  • Film is too expensive :(

  • where do you live...... i like the store where you can do darkroom.....

  • were do you buy camera..... vintage ones..... anybody can tell me and stop destroying them they are vintage......

  • useless vid ever.. HEY LETS GET A MAC .. THEN WE CAN USE THE WINDOWS OS ON IT :)

  • the sad thing with these tutorials is that you cant follow. Every time something is missing.

  • Try this cool trick to make your own $1 bills!

Take a $50 note and cross out all letters saying fifty dollars. Then get a $100 note and cut out the 1 from the corners and glue them to the $50 note (you will need 2 $100 notes to do each side) and there it is! Your own hacked $1 note!!!!

  • @Laxpowertoo Just bleach out a $1000 dollar bill and run it through any brand ink-jet printer.

  • really friggin awesome. It's pretty cool, yet pretty discouraging (since i'm almost 30) to know that the more you learn about something you really dig, the more you realize that there is so much more out there to study. Anyway, really cool vid, thanks for the motivational ideas...

  • wow that's prety awesome

  • You fuck up a Holga to build a camera that takes more panoramic photos. Than WHY THE FUCK do use 35mm film???

  • You say that you gonna load some slide film and cross it.

But at 3:27 you show a stripe of negative film??

  • nice hack...however you just don't rip of real camera and modify it for toy camera...

  • gay !

  • So... you took the lens off a medium format toy camera... then slapped it onto a hacked medium (large format?!?) format body... then ran 35mm (small format) film through it?

    WTF? Why?

If you need the sprocket hole look (gets old quickly), just run 135 film through the Holga.

This video is like going to burger king, then McDonalds, then Jack in the Box... taking the bun from McDonalds, the burger from Jack in the Box, and the lettuce from burger king, and thinking you have a better meal.

  • would it work if i left the bellows on the camera?

  • female gay?

  • wow, the smartest comment I´ve ever seen

when you are do your own camera or something by yourself start criticizing

  • the sound is all messed up!

  • Ow, I wanted to see the photos he talked about at the very very end (after the horse photo). Really liked the sheep one too, that one's amazing.

  • Ok sorry those are pretty cool pics... its still sacrolige though.

  • or you buy a diana and use the old bellows camera for what it was made for... much nicer.

Hell you can keep your holga and get great pictures aswell.

  • pfaaaiiilll!!!...

    get a 6x6 film...

  • jejeje.. no esta mal

  • Yeah, nowadays it does. Back then it was only 100MB, but whatever, enough chit chat about this, lol. :)

  • So how did they get the file size to be so small? YouTube only accepted up to 100MB as a file size anyway....

Weird, I never quite understood the video encoding stuff, lol.

This one is taking an extremely long time to load for some reason.

    :)

  • No they accept 2g

  • what happened to Bre Pettis? I miss him.

  • that is bre...

  • he means none of the new ones have him

  • i like kipkay better that bre but bre is still cool to.

  • how is this posted in 2006 and it is in hd?

  • The HD CREATES LAG

  • HD in 06!?!

  • GHOST BUSTERS!

  • I miss Bre:(:(:(

  • this is bre

  • they changed it to kip kay

  • I somewhat agree with the point you make about the wasting. But the fact that you're immediate response with the pictures is that you can do it on photoshop worries me. this is analog, it's lo-fi, it has soul. Digital photos altered on photoshop almost never have this gorgeous aesthetic quality to them. Learn to appreciate analog.

  • @DontStopTheBeat1090

In my opinion the only difference is WHY you're capturing the image. If you're simply doing it for other people, or to make a buck... use digital and apply filters.

I don't like that sort of photography however.

If you're doing it FOR YOURSELF... go out with a cheap film camera, and fire away. Forget about aperture, shutter, and even ISO... just shoot. Forget about focus... just shoot. Forget about perfect... just shoot.

Digital is fine... but it's not as FUN.

  • Is this guy back ? where is kipkay ?

  • this is 2006 video...

  • ha ha :)) I had it on my subscription page :))

  • WANKERRRS

  • that's not hacking!!!

  • I never really listend to Bre closely....He sounds pretty gay,....but I like him....I'm confused.

  • he loves it in the pooper shoot

  • Does this guy take cocks in the ass?

  • He definatly takes it in the shitter m8

  • lol hes the deffanition of abutt pirate!!!!!!

  • I have wanted to try some DIY camera projects over the years, but I have been limited by the fact that I know very little about film developing. Does anyone know where I could learn about how to develop film?

  • Research it you dickhead never heard of a library or google!

  • nice tip on hacking old cameras! :D

  • You're an alright dude, imaginative and all that stuff.

  • Does slide film

    need some sort of chemical

    other than c-41 ?

or can it be processed with

    C-41 ? O_o

    lol

    = D

idk so please relieve me of my ignorance

  • Slide film is normally processed in an E-6 process where it comes out positive, but you can run it through the regular wal-mart c-41 machine and it will turn out more contrasty, and with the colours shifted. This is what they usually mean by "cross processed". You can also run normal film through e-6 chemistry and you'll get lower contrast and a bit different shift in colour, but cross processing slide film is usually more attractive.

  • bre !! is freaking awesome :D

  • I love this magazine. Extremly expensive in book sotre but worth it:)

  • why the hell are you using 135 film on a 6x4 back?

    you should use a 120roll

  • large format film cameras are still being used quite alot,

since digital backs for them start at $100k atleast,

digital is only popular when its small format (135/35mm format)

but film has risen in demand once again,

i shoot everyday, its my job so yeah

  • WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU DESTROY A HOLGA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    FUCKING HELL!!!!!!!!!

    thats a disgrace to lomo!!

  • think about it like this,

    hes making a new lomo!!

  • OMG! thats a holga lens!

  • hes gay

  • great video! i can't wait to make my own

  • UMM SHUTUP

  • You all are cunts. Photoshop is a tool. Just like your camera. How you choose to create your art is up to you. Don't be ignorant.

  • cool photo of a retarded sheep ^.^

  • hey couldt you show us how you built the camera with the aspherical underwater lens ? that would be very kind

great video, I put that the next few days on my blog

    bye

  • hey couldt you show us how you built the camera with the aspherical underwater lens ? that would be very kind

great video, I put that the next few days on my blog

    bye

  • yawn :P

  • that's not the point, digital photography is for everybody.

old camera with film like this one can make wonderful blurry abstract photo...something that digital really don't have

  • yes it can, with the right lens. the thing is it can actually do better cause you can photoshop it afterwards.

  • Holga Cam at ebay: $29

    old Camera body: $15

    tape and other stuff: $10

The feeling that u built a working Camera, you can take abstract photo and make a lot photo experiments with: PRICELESS

Sorry buddy, i think u haven't find out the real meaning of photography, photoshop is for those who can't handle a manual camera

(Sorry for my bad english) greetings from Germany

  • photoshop is for people too lazy to figure out how to make cool effects with the camera itself.

    photoshop is NOT photography.

  • Photoshop isnt photograpgy but its a great way to express your creativity

  • those are cool pictures. more original that i could ever be with photoshop

  • I liked this video, Great job! I often thought about doing this kind of project but did not think it was possible.. Bill

  • yes there is a way to retrieve lost data... hola at me, I'll see if I have that soft at home

  • nice! i did the pinhole camera with the Quaker Oats oatmeal round box and the b/w film loaded on the backside, opposite of the "hole",

loaded the oatmeal box in the darkroom, then took pics by opening the "shutter" (which was a piece of black tape covering the pinhole). there was a specific time interval to use to open, then close the shutter, or tape on hole. i dont recall, but experiment if youd like....

    Great ingenuity!

    Joe

  • niceeeee

  • this is not boring! It is a hobby of his!

    And he's really sexy!

  • Could someone explain what happens if you don't use slide film or cross process do the pics look normal? I take it that is the biggest reason Lomo pics, next to the optics, have lovely saturated look? Thanks.

  • Nor do I...

  • These videos rule, but for crying out loud GET THE CAMERA CLOSER TO THE ACTION. We don't need to see 3 feet of empty space on either side of you. We don't even need your face. Just your hands and whatever they are working on.

  • your videos are what youtube is all about,,,,5 STARS,,,hellorodney

  • Cool! I've always wanted to try analog photography, I'll try this.
