  • @TheCount46 In other words, anyone who disagrees with your opinion has problems. Typical.

It's not my opinion. It's the opinion of film critics and film historians in every major film organization in the country. If you wish to idolize a man with little talent, go right ahead, pilgrim.

  • @carrotjuse I got a problem for the most part a critic is the lowest of the low can't make it him/her self so bash all who try. No not all critics are like that but a major portion is. As far as the duke well I guess opinions are like a-------s we all have on but is it full of crap or not. He was a top draw for the studios for 10 years or better and no he did not make any list but try to find a soul in this country or many others who have not seen or heard of the man you would be hard pressed.

  • @MrReloboy Once you learn to compose a sentence correctly and punctuate it, you will find that people will pay attention to your message. When it's illegible and confusing, as this one is, no one wants to read it.

  • @carrotjuse Huh college boy it figures. well I'll be moving on now sorry to waste my time.

  • @MrReloboy Won't be the first time.

  • @carrotjuse Just wondering, why are you so angry? It's okay, don't sweat the small stuff.

  • @MrReloboy lololol

  • @TheCount46 I think the American Film Institute's List of 100 Greatest Films speaks for John Wayne's acting ability. There isn't a John Wayne film listed on it. None of his films appear on Time's All-Time 100 Movies list, IMDb List of Top 205 Movies or New York's Museum of Modern Arts Film Library list of top films. In fact, he doesn't appear on any organizations list of great films.

You may like John Wayne tremendously, but I'm afraid that doesn't mean he had talent, pilgrim.

  • @carrotjuse John Wayne is also the biggest box office draw of all time appearing within the Quigley annual list of "Top 10 Money Maker's Poll" a record 25 times, with the exception of 1958 he was on this list every year from 1949 to 1974.[3] John Wayne is also the biggest box office draw of all time appearing within the Quigley annual list of "Top 10 Money Maker's Poll" a record 25 times, with the exception of 1958 he was on this list every year from 1949 to 1974.[3]

  • @SJS4JC Quantity doesnt equal quality. It just shows that some people cant tell their ass from a hole in the ground.

  • @carrotjuse Really, seems it was rather easy for me to be able to tell "...their a** from a hole in the ground". I was able to tell clearly who is the 'hole' here and who is the a** here. Kindly look into a mirror and it will be staring back at you.

  • @Obamaluke Get a grip, dude.

  • My dad just found a dvd with one of John Wayne's old b movies on it that I have seen before but haven't seen in years.

    Blue Steel.

I have the movie, but don't really feel like digging through the old vhs tapes I have to find it.

  • Where in the world can one go to give praise to a man who by his own definition hated women, hated gays, hated blacks and other minorities. This man was a nationalist in the same ilk as Adolf Hitler. Oh yeah that would be america, the only country on the planet who has people so stupid that they worship a total racist.

  • Le meilleur acteur de tout les temps, je suis vraiment un pur fan !!! (y)

  • According to historical evidence, Wayne was too old for the draft. He didnt enlist because it might have damaged his rising career and the head of Republic Studios requested a 2A deferment for "support of national health, safety or interest" to keep him out of the service. He was a hero to conservatives because of his mouth, not because of his patriotic record, which consisted of three months touring US bases in the Pacific during WW II.

    Look it up, pilgrim.

  • @carrotjuse you are correct sir

  • i love all the films thanks

  • I always set myself to be like John Wayne. He was my Idol and always wanted to be like him.

  • @htuomnom

Yea, don't forget Charlie Sheen and Michael Jackson.

(No, I'm not trying to speak ill of the dead. But it's a fact that he bribed a family in Europe if they wouldn't press charges for molesting their son.)

  • Hey microsoft57, if you are to post, know what the hell you are saying. Lee Marvin was a marine in the pacific and Jimmy Stewart flew missions--both in WWII. Regarding the Alamo, he did not write the movie, only acted in it---

  • John Wayne was a coward!! While his contemporaries were off fighting in WW1 (Lee Marvi & Jimmy Stewart) he was making his name in the film industry - why didn't he join? Regarding his version of the Alamo battle, it is totally incorrect. The battle (if one can call it that) started early in the morning, by the time the sun had set in the sky - it was all over.

  • The one diminsional dukey, could only play one role his entire career. He also was addicted to crystal meth, opium, young boys, and cheeseitz. it's all on biography on a&e. Sometimes when he was feeling frisky he's shove that six shooter up his rear end and go oh fuck me, pilgrim!

  • @risefm Son, what in the hell is wrong with you?

  • whats john wayne great for, pls someone tell me

  • @livingbysacrifice For making some badass movies. Durrrr.

  • john wayne was a nazi, he liked to play SS.

john wayne killed our indian brothers!

burned their village and raped their mothers!

glad that you are dead john.

  • he ain't got nothin on lil' wayne

  • well said

  • Johm Wayne è IMMENSO!!!io sono cresciuto con i suoi film e...sono cresciuto bene! GRAZIE per questo video...

  • Gabacho mericon hoto

  • John Wayne was the best!

  • john wayne was a nazi.

when i see him im ashamed to be white.

  • for that i can thank God. Why would anyone want to be like him.

  • more gay slurs? and because its my choice to stay clean.

  • hmm well im not 31. And, I will stay right were I am thank you, this is my land as much as anyone elses.

  • haha. fuck my profile info, it doesnt mean shit. and I will love what I want, and ill stay right here.

  • whatever happend to this being a free country :P

  • since when did you write the rules of this country? If we are a country for and by the people, than I have just as much say as you do. And I will love and respect what I want. And Freedom doesnt have to be violently earned, unlike what this country believes.

  • "in peace as in war" enough said

  • You're not even aloud to pronounce the word Fuck on TV in the US, land of free my ass

  • Thats beside the point, haha. If the land of the free statement nullifyes my arguement, then it makes his even worse.

By the way, FUCK JOHN WAYNE.

  • or they are taking off the rights to people to hear those words, personally I don't really care, but the point is that the USA is such a scared country living in constant moral isolation especially the center

  • John Wayne is a great Man he is a wonderfull man thanks for the video .sorry my english is not good.

    lg maeuschen64

  • Well he had his ideas about the war and if those protesters were able to say what they wanted to then so did John Wayne it s called free speech. And its really bad when a Vietnam soldier cant walk through an airport without being spit and beat on then maybey thats the kind of behaviour that pissed him off .and for his love life well i will have to look into that for myself .

    MS x

  • John Wayne was critical of the people who wanted to prevent US soldiers from getting maimed in the first place, as well as the people who refused to be drafted. I do agree that disrespecting a veteran is detestable. But a vet John Wayne certainly is not, and I have no respect for JW's attitude given his own history of abstention.

  • very cool

  • The best!

  • Thanks for posting! Long live the Duke!

  • John Wayne acted tough, but in real life he was either too greedy, too cowardly, or both, to fight in World War II.

  • References? I've never heard anything about a problem with his arm. Even from John Wayne fans.

  • I think you've been gathering your information from John Wayne fan cites and not from hard evidence which contradicts this claim.

John Wayne let the studios get him deferments and he took no action against it. If you can show me evidence that he tried to join but was denied, then what is your source?

John Wayne also cheated on his wives. That must not feel too great if you're partner betrays your trust like that.

  • I have the movie Reap the Wild Wind and it has things about the film and says that during the movie he received an ear injury filming under water sequences that latter prevented him from serving in the military during WW2 just saying

  • Wayne obtained 3-A status, "deferred for [family] dependency reasons." He told friends he would enlist after a few more movies.

He sent paperwork to enlist in John Ford's naval photounit but never followed through. He prided himself on doing his own physical stunts in his movies, but wasn't brave enough to go to war. Maybe he never would have passed the health exam, who knows. But he never summoned the courage.

He was even reclassified as 1-A later on, but he wouldn't pull the trigger.

  • Well war is scary, but i dont think that was the case for him .Obviously there are alot of reasons why he dident and i think somwere in there is the truth but no one will ever know so lets just leave it to that :)

He was a good actor and a good American lets remember him as that

    MS x

  • Let's be brutally honest with ourselves and with our heroes.

What's better than aspiring for truth and raw, stripped down, no bull-shit reality? At the very least, we're safer this way; we'll suffer no illusions.

John Wayne, while a great actor, cheated on his wife; he publicly & hypocritically chastised people protesting Vietnam while also profiting from it. The US govt. was suppressing democracy while killing hundreds of thousands of poor people there.

John Wayne was not a good American.

  • A democracy in Vietnam? You got to be kidding right? The South pol. were corrupt and both were in many way just murdering their own people if they did not agree with their own idea of gov.

I guess if Wayne is not a good American, Clinton must not be one either. He is not what you would call a Quire boy.

  • The problem with the Vietnam War and other wars since then - is that the politicians try to run the war as if it were a sports contest. All with nice neat little rules to protect the other side. As for NV, what about the sneak attack Jan/68 breaking a 2 day truce. Both sides had announced that they would be no fighting for the 2 day holiday per. Neither N or S VN were perfect, but I rather be under a free gov. than comm.

  • I realize you have your own opinions on Vietnam. But how do any of your claims negate the fact that the U.S. government suppressed democracy in Vietnam, as I claimed.

South Vietnam was not a democracy. Got it. North Vietnam played dirty. Got it. The U.S. still interfered with an international peace agreement to hold free and fair elections in all of Vietnam. Would they have been fair? It is impossible to know. Thanks to the U.S., a democratic vote never took place.

  • You are part correct. Thanks to the U.S. for abandoning the South and the North breaking the peace. No one will ever know if a fair election would have taken place. I know that "no" election has taken place since the South fell. I really doubt that "any" Vietnamese-American would want to go back and live under the current gov. in Vietnam.

  • If our country replaces the leader of South Vietnam with a puppet who replaces 85% of its provincial chiefs, forming a state that is "essentially the creation of the United States" according to the United States Department of Defense, AND an international peace agreement for free elections is blocked again and again, AND the U.S. continues to send weaponry AND money to that government, THAT is suppression of democracy in Vietnam. That is an act of suppression of democracy. How is it not?

  • Youi do know the leaders of N. Vietnam were not elected by the people? They came to power by way of using the gun. Killing anyone and everyone that got into their way. I know the South leadership did not get there by a vote either. We will never know if there would have been a vote or not in the South.

  • Vietminh and the French reached an agreement at Geneva, where the French would temporarily withdraw into the southern part of Vietnam and Vietminh would remain in the north.

The U.S. then installed Diem in the south.

2 years passed by and Diem rejected the requests by Vietminh to hold the elections numerous times. It was not the other way around.

  • I think it is easy to say that both sides (N & S. VN) broke the agreement at Geneva. Communist counties cont. buildup in the N. and US cont. buildup in the S. Sadly I doubt if honest elections could have been held even if both sides had came together.

  • I don't deny that. However, the puppet installed by the United States rejected the agreement to hold free elections, not the Vietminh. You can add whatever you like, but this fact remains. The U.S. was the power behind Diem, and is therefore culpable.

There were clearly stated reasons why elections were dangerous, as voiced by President Eisenhower:

"It was generally conceded that had an election been held, Hồ Chí Minh would have been elected Premier."

  • We will never know for sure.

  • I AGREE! joyne wayne supports white supremacist group,he said it during his playboy interview in the 70s and i agree that his a great actor but in real life his just like somebody else. nothing special about the man.

  • "I believe in white supremacy until blacks are educated to a point of responsibility" That was the direct quote. Not what you make in your statement. I don't care if you are black or white. If you are an idiot and uneducated, you do not belong in charge of anything.

  • who the fuck is john wayne?

  • John Wayne was a Nazi He liked to play SS He kept a picture of Adolf Hitler Tucked in his cowboy vest John Wayne slaughtered our Indian brothers Burnt their villages and raped their mothers Now he's given them the white man's lord; Live by this, or die by the sword John Wayne killed a lot of Gooks in the war No one gives a fuck about John anymore We've heard his tales of blood and gore Just another pawn for the capitalist whore He was a Nazi, not anymore He was a Nazi, life evened the score

"User talk:Rodhullandemu/Harvey Carter" and "Category:Suspected Wikipedia sockpuppets of HarveyCarter"

Check the sock puppet "Sponge417". His real name is EVAN PEACOCK, a teenager from HILTON, NY, USA.

  • He was a good talentless draft dodging racist.

  • BARACK OBAMA!!!!!

  • I wish I could have met him in person. But meeting him in the movies was pretty good.

  • Just become a Catholic, confess you sins, and one day you will meet John Wayne hanging out with God, Jesus, Mary, Peter, Paul and All the Saints. Marion Michael Morrison was a great person and we should all pray for him this november.

  • Well... I'll wait for the resurrection. If we're both lucky, who knows.

  • John Wayne grande heroi, bons filmes, ate hoje não consegui ver todos seus fimes.
