At least from the Native American perspective, it relates to the relationship between each race and the four elements recognized in the old traditions. Africans were said to embody the element of water; Asians, air; Caucasians; fire; and the original Americans, earth.  At least some prophecies foresaw a time when balance would be lost and fire would become too dominant. It is not too late for balance to be restored; it just takes authentic cooperation, & selflessness rather than selfishness.

My ancestry on my father's side is cloudy, so anything is possible. I look very French/English/Irish, but sometimes, I see possible Indian bone structure. My hairdresser thought I was Indian. There is a very "still" part of me, that feels, no thinking. When I observe Indians, that's what I see, stillness, something secret, a knowing. I would like to go live with them, and stay there. The cities are so busy now. I like small towns, and recognizing people. I was happiest living in the forest.
