  • I am genuinely surprised by the hate and destruction most people have towards this episode. I truly wish I was a part of the 25th century then I would never hear such ghastly and vile remarks, I'd imagine.

  • Costumes, acting, special FX and that "Trek feel" were top-notch. But i felt the gay lovers subplot to be distracting and unexpected. :/

  • GOODGRIEF, just when I was liking this, ....

    gay butt humpers

  • What the hell?! I can't show this to my kids!!! Guys!! Sorry, can't do it. Sheesh. Generally I don't care... but I don't want to watch it. And I was hoping this was going to be generic. Crap!

  • lol, a good attempt to act like the original cast. Unfortunately the best efforts hardly simulate what it was like. Like the model and special effects. You should have made your own crew and ship to run parallel with Kirk's enterprise.

  • The "Star Trek" legacy lives on through fan films such as "New Voyages."

  • I wonder, is it possible to get involved with making one of these episodes? I've been wanting to make a fan fiction Star Trek story for a while now, but I don't really have the resources to do it all on my own. I'd like to do a Caitian story sometime or another, but Caitians would be hard to do in live action, hence why the only one we've ever seen in trek was in the animated series.

I suppose it could be done in CGI with a person doing the vocals, though.

  • This is sensational all around. You capture the look of the classic "Star Trek" series faithfully. You're boldly doing what perhaps other Trekkies have done before.

  • thanks love new ideas BUT OR BUTT WHY ARE U OVERSELLING THE GAY ASPECT SO HARD! Milder intro to the gay relationship and stronger on the story of STAR TREK would have been. Better the show is about space action not hetro or gay sex relations, but thats just me watching trek since the 60's(an expert) nice try no other new treks on i'll just have to get used to the story change I guess

  • @SuperKirkspock Because a THREE parter (instead of two) would have been well beyond our budget. David managed to cram a lot of character exposition into that one scene (the dialog many miss) and portray the intimacy of their relationship at the same time - which made it possible (with one full shoot and SEVEN pickup shoots) to finish this.

As for the story, it's exactly what David (and Carlos) intended - no story change here. ;-)

  • Are you kidding us, how many times did Kirk find some hot little Alien number to get it on with, even Spock got it on with an alien woman a couple of times, as did Bones. Of course Ahura beets them all, for she got it on with a God in Who Morns for Apollo? If you consider that gay rights are an issue in the 21st century, by the time STOS occurs, everyone should have had equal rights for a long time. Episodes like this simply reflect that possible future.

  • I think creating episodes Roddenberry didn't or couldn't create at the time due to how conservative society was back then is a good thing. I think having an interracial couple would be a good thing, which I think the Serak Amanda relationship represented to some extent.

  • So I take it 50%of all the men gay,,,

  • @67irishfire Uh, what?

  • I have actualy found people who think bigotry dose not exsist in all races. Only Europeans. Then one day I saw a black panther video where a African said he would kill all whites, even babies. It was very educational to see the best and worse can happen all across the board.

  • The most illogical thing to me, is all the various groups that have been subjugated, discriminated against, & abused, throughout American & world history, you would think they would all know what it feels like, & would therefore understand how illogical it is to subject someone else to similar treatment. Sadly, people usually learn the hard way, which is why you see sexism, bigotry, etc, even in the gay community, & homophobia & sexism in other groups. Hopefully, we can grow up.

  • Somethings in life are just gay but I still like star trek.

  • After years in the closet Star Trek comes out. To late the show has always been gay. j.k. cool your P.C. heals. I said heal dawg. HEAL.....(gurgle...death)

  • The fleet is hard on new kids on the block.Give the noobies a chance! Kirk was a young goof off once.

Damnit Jim I'm a Doctor not a sub Sandwich on a Unicylce at a Klingon Square Dance!

  • Awww I liked the intense spock from the episode Teaki (Sulu) guest stared in. :( Still ok though.

  • very sick im sure theres copyright issues involved with this program

  • @norrismike1 No, there aren't any copyright issues involved with this program. Sorry you're very sick.

  • @RobertMfromLI well im sorry you took my simple comment to heart did not call you personly sick but if the shoes fits and if you would see a lawyer he will tell you that your show is very much has a copyright issues on less you can post permission letters from all the actors. that a used. permission from star.trek lawyers to use there spaceship.and if you can i will recant my statement witch i dont think will happen have a goodday

  • @norrismike1 Oh, you aren't very sick? Maybe I misread what you wrote. As for the rest, don't speculate. And no, I won't post any such thing - our agreements with cast, crew and companies is private between them and us.

Of course, you could just visit our forums and see them chatting with everyone.

  • real idiot arnt you . maybe youve never heard of courts and judges

  • @mrlogicalman1 Do me a favor and keep your vile, disgusting hate off our page. If you need help doing so, let me know and I'll gladly block you.

  • Unintentional I know but...

Kirk: You're not going on that highly dangerous away mission!

    Peter: Uncle, I'm gay.

    Kirk: Get packed, you're going!

  • That was great! Great job by everyone. Can't believe how accurately you captured that 1960's Star Trek feel. Even the lighting is perfect! That also has to be the most HORRIBLE death scene I've ever seen on Star Trek too.Got a kick seeing the picture of the NX-01 on the wall and although everyone did a great job,I'd say Chekov is the closest to the original. He looks, sounds and acts just like Walter Koenig's version.Great job!Looking forward to watching the next part! (Love Denise Crosby)

  • Years ago, I wrote to the official Star Trek magazine and asked why there was never a gay character in Star Trek. Obviously, in Star Trek, being homosexual in the 23rd and 24th century wont matter (although it shouldn't matter right now either), yet there was never a homosexual character of any kind. Someone responded to my letter with 'Gene Roddenberry once commented on the matter with 'We never had a gay character in Star Trek because in the 23rd century, sexuality just isn't an issue'........

  • @NorthStaruk1983 I replied with 'If sexuality isn't an issue, then WHY do we see every characters of every Star trek series in a plot which shows us they're sexual preference. Kirk, McCoy, Spock, Picard, Riker, Worf...even Wesley and Neelix. They ALL had story lines which support them being heterosexual at some point, yet still nothing about homosexuality. I just want to say THANK YOU for doing this. It was a brave choice (knowing some of the back lash you'd get but did it anyway!). Well done!!!

  • @NorthStaruk1983 From all of us, very welcome!

  • I love this, great job guys. 7:54 was a little surprising for me. Haha

  • your kiddin me ..dumbest thing i ever seen. and i thougt it was gona be something .. wat a laugh..

  • Yall screwd it up with the guy bouncing off the other gu's butt scene

  • recipe for disaster! how are you going to introduce alternative lifestyle on a conservative TV show from the 60's ? Most people who liked the TOS are not going for the same sex scene!

It wasn't in the original, so don't put it in this one that is so close to the original! It is not what we expect to see because it never was...in the original. This was the reason why TNG and voyager was made. TOS will attract most conservative people. Men are masculine and women are femanine on TOS. You giblets

  • @emtvans I dont think you ever watched Star Trek in the 60's, did you? It had a woman in a position of authority, who also happened to be black - not a very conservative view. Neither was having a Russian and a Japanese person... or an alien with those "devil like" ears.

That aside, you do realize such an episode was promised by Gene Roddenberry and David Gerrold, right? And you do realize, just like TOS, we do tackle current day issues, right?

  • Trek has a history of dealing with social issues, it just took television till the 80s & 90s to start dealing with gay issues. If Roddenberry was doing Trek all over starting today, he probably would have gay characters & story lines to develop those characters. As far as the conservatives, screw them, there were networks back in the day that wouldn't air the episode where Kirk & Ahura kiss one another. Even today some conservative cities won't air certain episodes/shows due to content

  • Where is Sulu?

  • @mlee2001 In the next episode. Kinda just like in TOS where either Sulu or Chekov weren't on shift (or on ship) during certain episodes.

  • @RobertMfromLI Ok cool! Im really enjoying this, thank you for posting. However, i would advise Cpt.Kirk to stay on the bridge, with a hostile Klingon vessel engaging them and a serious crisis going on. I dont know if I would leave that Ensign Dunsel, the conn, but ,then again, im not Kirk, lol. Great job with the acting, storyline, grapics and direction. You need to get some sponsors to put commercials between acts and make a little money....

  • @mlee2001 Ah... on that... watch that part again. You'll note the Klingon ship was of no threat at the moment. And of course, Kirk's crew is *the* quintessential Starfleet crew, so no worries there either.

Also, we've seen it happen in TOS... how many "Captain Kirk to the bridge" calls were there? ;-)

Oh, and sadly we cannot put commercials or such in - we can only accept fan donations.

  • It looks like the actor playing Checkov was created in a test tube from a couple of Walter Koenig's cells. :)

  • Dang it! I was gettting into this until 8:00. Im not a homophobe( my sister is gay) i have no problems with homosexuality but this seems out of place and forced. Capatain James T. Kirks nephew, is gay?? Perhaps if the idea had been explored a bit more subdued in the pilot episode and allowed to progress as the series went on...Like I said, i dont feel like a raging homophobe but seeing that guy crawl on the other guy during my reintroduction to Clasic Trek, is really a bummer.

  • @mlee2001 Show the episode to your sister. Then, ask her what she thinks about us finally portraying a gay couple in an intimate scene in the same fashion that TV and movies have portrayed straight couples in for many years. I suspect she will tell you that is it about time that gay couples are being portrayed in the same fashion - and we agree.

  • @RobertMfromLI That may very well be so, but that does not mean we have to like it...It also may interest you to know that I do not like seeing scenes with male and females like that either when i watch my trek, usually in TOS the love scenes were very brief and only hinted at the action to take place and thats the way i prefer it personally.

  • @mlee2001 I'm not asking you to like it... but still, show it to your sister. I've gotten TONS of emails from people that basically say "thanks for showing me/us in a good light when everyone is trying to either ignore or condemn us"

Simply put, we (which includes the 99% straight cast and crew) didn't think we should treat a gay love scene any differently than today's entertainment would treat a straight one. Gotta remember, this has been updated for the times and events of today.

  • @RobertMfromLI Again I dont care what a person sexuality is, just please, dont throw it in my face because I DONT CARE! that goes for hetro, homo and all in between. Thats what bothers me is the "ACCEPT ME, ACCEPT ME!!' cry from the homosexual population. I dont care who or what a person finds sexual attractive, just please dont shove ANY sexuality down my throat. That being said, I am glad and impressed by your show and look forward to more episodes. Very enjoyable. Thank you!

  • @mlee2001, the fact you have no issue with a man & a women, and probably no problem with two women, but two men bums you out, should tell you something about how closed minded you are. I'm not saying you need to watch gay porn or anything, but why shouldn't the gay community who also has lots of Star Trek fans not see themselves represented in Star Trek. Its like George Taki said, "Trek was unique at the time, because the cast weren't stereotypes.

  • There have been gay characters on many sci-fi & fantasy shows, which is why people have said, Star Trek has fallen way behind the times. It used to push the envelope, it had the first interracial kiss, showed Asians, Blacks, & Russians as professionals. This was important, as helped shape the public's view of this segment of the population, & these populations around the world. I think your comment is funny because, strait characters are introduced on shows the same way with noissue

  • @ernestmac13 Apparently you cant read,or you would have read where i said "It also may interest you to know that I do not like seeing scenes with male and females like that either when i watch my trek" you should really do more research before you start calling people names that are inaccurate to the situation. And yea, it does bum me out,im glad it turns you on,but thats why were all diffrent right?

  • Love this and the original music fromt he tv show great job guys keep it going.

  • @BronxNYE206St Much thanks - quite a few more in the works.

  • no religion on earth says gays will go to heaven . retard. it is unnatural , filthy disgusting and caused AIDS. you think these vermin will be in heaven gays , you realise supporting these worse than animal creatures is just as bad. wen ur in hell with them how many seconds will it take you to hate them too

  • @mrlogicalman1 We all prefer to think that hate, bigotry, vileness and idiocy are "unnatural" - hopefully, one day you will outgrow those.

  • @RobertMfromLI While I can agree to most of that I think "justice" can go to far to. If some one burns down a china town in America because they "didn't assimilate" enough I would find that wrong. Or if a town was "to European" and forced to dsisolve away. I think it just depends. The more our governments keep their hand out of personel decisions the better off we seam to do.

  • OMG! This show is amazing! I love seeing Star Trek being brought back to life! The cast really does a fantastic job; its like seeing an old friend. I love the new characters as well. Brilliant job! Support this project!!!

  • @practicallama Much thanks from us all!!!

  • @LGFVA Sorry, I am terrible at writing in Spanish, so my response is in English...

From all of us, thanks for the kind words! We all look forward to a future where people are just people - regardless of their race, orientation, gender or any other such nonsense. :-)

  • filthy faggot ass bandits , will burn nicely in hell .see how long they like being gay then retards

  • @mrlogicalman1 No god is as sick and demented and cruel as... certain people... to punish people for being how s/he made them.

I forget... what's the punishment for the type of judgment you are passing on a WHOLE LOT of people you don't even know? Enlighten me please... and then explain who is really taking the fast elevator to the basement... ;-)

  • @mrlogicalman1 God also teaches not to judge people, that's his job. So shut your mouth and get on with your life.

  • the bad acting writing can not come close to the garbage of the having kirks nephew gay..what if kids watch this and thinks its ok time to have it reported,,,i do trust you have the copy-rite for star trek because i know couple of complaints n you tube bans ya

  • @TheOlivertwisted I wouldn't attempt to harass us or you may find you are the one who makes YouTube upset.

And as for your what if: if kids watch this and think it's ok if someone is gay, then it means they won't grow up to be a bigot like you appear to be.

  • just sick.....

  • @bombshell31600 I hope you get better soon...

  • I had to do a double take - the guy playing Chekov looks and sounds exactly like 1960's Chekov it's spooky!

  • 8:35 - Smells like feet and ass in here,

  • @darkguardian1314 As long as the scent is comeing from hot looking chicks and it's not to overpowering like a few naughty nasty days but not at a inhuman level. THEN It would be OK.

  • THE USA SPACE PROGRAM NOW CONSISTS OF WATCHING STAR TREK WHOSE FAULT IS THAT ?

  • @mitchell2787 LoL, not ours, but we're glad we could help provide them something to watch! ;-)

  • i love this but what is it?

  • @torchwoodchesterfiel Visit our website in the link in the description to find out more.

  • The sad thing is, the rhetoric used against interacial marriages has been utilized word for word in the fight against gay marriage, and in many cases by the religious leaders.who fought against interracial marriage. Unfortunaitly, some of these leaders call for denying gays citizenship, the right to vote, & call for putting gays to death. This in the 21st Century, how sad.

  • @ernestmac13 Bingo Ernest! And used againts women's rights and more. Fortunately, slowly, we are becoming more of an enlightened society... and thanks for being a part of that!

  • @RobertMfromLI I'm still very concerned that nothing is being done about the global bankers. If they have their way we may never advance beyond the gleam of the almghty dollar.

  • @jakewestwn Give it time... if we don't destroy ourselves first, the human race will slowly get to where it should be. Or so I hope...

  • We se amongst life on earth that some animals are both male & female, some change from male to female, while some can be said to be neither truly male or female. This is fine when talking about lower life, but when talking about advanced intelligent species some get uncomfortable.

  • Anyone else see Anakan Skywalker in Peter Kirk?

  • 16:17 - Kirk's reaction funny.

    18:01 - ROFLMAO

  • Nice remake, it captured my attention 43 minutes! I look forward to the next episode!

    Well Done!

  • @Wildfox01 Pssst... Part II, *and* "Enemy: Starfleet, *and* a vignette are online... I'd catch up soon, because another episode is very near to release. ;-)

  • Was that Vin Diesel as Spock?

  • Where's the pedophiles in this crew???

  • how dare you put gay creatures in star trek, why dint you make these creatures the alien monsters, theyd suit that so good?

  • @mrlogicalman1 Why would we want to do that? You do realize that gay people exist... kinda like black people and women supposedly exist too.

  • humans have no shame going about in a primitive cow ship

  • The way Peter waves that phaser rifle around would get him a very sound beating from the team and the a court martial.

  • A Fasa D-7S vs original series Enterprise, poor feds would be sol.

  • I clicked on this video and wasn't expecting much, but I was blown away by the quality of the sets, the effects, and the story.

  • @douglas787 Much thanks from us all!!!

  • why doesn't the enterprise use more torpedoes. The klingons use torpedoes but rarely disruptors.

  • @MrHoppers002 They won't be installed till Tuesday...

...oh, wait, that was that movie... nevermind. Artistic choice perhaps? Not sure... never thought about it until now. I suspect it's simply how David wrote it (well, it is how he wrote it, actually). Not sure why... I'll ask him next time we chat, if I remember.

  • lol it's just so weird to see the enterprise so beat up from just 1 d7.

  • @MrHoppers002 psst... cloaking device and presumably a surprise attack. That's my story, and I am sticking with it. ;-)

Not sure of David's reasons... I dont think it ever came up in conversation, as various of us thought the cloaking device/attack were enough.

  • Although I loved Majel Barret, and I'll grant you she is the first lady of Star Trek, why doesn't anyone hardly ever remember that it was Lucy Ball that gave the green light on the original series. Shouldn't she be regarded as the mother of Star Trek?

  • @Taopuppy Oh, we remember. We have a whole thread on our forums about it. If it weren't for her, there'd be no Star Trek, or it would have been cancelled a lot earlier. Besides allowing the 2nd pilot, she (if memory serves) also pushed for a second season against the advice of the team that worked for her.

  • man that guy looks like the real chekov!

  • Holy Fuck! He's Gay! to bad! I think he's cute!

  • @starwarstrekkie LoL! Which one? And are we discussing the characters or the actors? ;-)

  • funny! The warp nassel is flameing, yet since there's no air in space, thats not possible

  • @starwarstrekkie Psst... plasma... oxygen venting through the breach from inside the ship... artistic effect... etc...

    ;-)

  • Not to add fuel to the fire here... cuz I love what you've done with the subject matter in this one... but Spock's reaction at hearing that Peter's marrying Alex -- at 15:43 -- is a bit, um, unfortunate... I mean, is he gonna hurl??

I'm lovin' McCoy's line, "Relax Jim. We don't put bullseyes on the red shirts anymore." and then not 5 minutes later, a red shirt gets infected by a wavacle! Hah! Whoa and then later, the way he dies was soooo gross, and by the way, very disturbingly real!

  • @leananshae LoL, no, his reaction was for other reasons. He was a bit uncomfortable with the fact that everyone but Kirk knew - which he tries addressing and making Kirk feel a little better about with his "Mr. Scott" joke.

  • Are the guys in love for real, cuz I can usually tell when actors are just saying 'I love you' and don't mean it (which is like 99% of the time) and when these two said it, I didn't sense any halted weirdness in their voices. And that's something very hard to pretend to do.

  • @leananshae They both just happen to be very good actors. :-)

  • oh, is it anal trek?!

Or do they need such a open minded thing like years before ... i mean the kiss between Uhura and Kirk, first black-white interaction.

but exept this, like it or not, it is just a very good project!

    I enjoy it!

  • @oa02071970 LoL! David tried getting this out earlier, but the network executives balked and his and Gene's promises were forbidden. Finally, through our production, he managed to get the story told, albeit decades later sadly.

  • @RobertMfromLI

The funny thing is...Cptn Kirk, Womanizer No1 in the Universe has a GAY nephew ... i rolled around my chair ;)

But why not.. thats life...but i would prefer to see nice women instead guys kissing another ;)

  • Nice seeing Majel's picture.

We had a black & white TV. Never saw the NBC peacock in color!

Interesting seeing it again and hearing the music.

Well done! Props new or the originals?

  • @robertgift And hearing her voice! She of course has reprised her role as the voice of the Enterprise computer (as she has in all our episodes).

She was also gracious and kind enough to record a lot of computer dialog for us, which we are thankful for.

  • why is everyone commenting on the gayness who cares if they are gay in the orginal star trek it was shockig they were black or asian or alien now its one of the reasons why the sho lasted so long it appealed to ppl on a human level

  • @talkindurinthemovie Bingo!

And we've gotten some great emails from a few fans who've realized the problem with their "gayness" or even closeness isn't a problem with the episode, but their own problem to deal with. It was (is) so rewarding getting such emails knowing we've made a positive difference in the world, and knowing one more person realizes people are people, regardless of their orientation (or color or gender or religion, etc).

  • I LOVE MCCOY...there's something very grandad about his character

  • I thought it was great exept for the gay part. Star Trek is something I look up to and being gay is not.

  • @kayleegirl1967 It isn't about looking up to being gay. It's about treating others with the respect and dignity they deserve based on *who they are* instead of *who they love or sleep with*.

In the 1960's and earlier, it was black people; segregation and miscegenation - and equal employment treatment for women. And the 1920's before women got the right to vote. Being a woman or being black isn't something to look up or down to: IT'S SOMETHING THAT SHOULDNT MATTER. JUST LIKE BEING GAY OR STR8.

  • This is the first time I have ever seen this remake... Had no idea it even existed. Looking to watch the first shows now... THANK YOU !!

  • WOW!!

Their special effects on the exteriors have gotten MUCH much better since their first episode!!

    - The Music Loving Klingon

  • That has to be one of THE greatest intro's in Star Trek history.

  • boring!

  • They are great actors but the two Kirks.

  • USS Copernicus looks like the Miranda Class USS Reliant.

  • @USSVoyager5 And she started on a napkin a few of us passed around. From our napkin-drawings, Joel Belucci turned our scribbles into that beautiful ship.

  • The acting isn't the usual cheesy awful Trekkie fan acting. These guys are GOOD. Great acting. I'm enjoying this more than the last movie.

  • Yes, the gay rubbing made me uncomfortable; however, I am not offended by it. Actually, I'm glad the producers of P2 are of the ilk that would include these characters and scenes. All of us love ST but not all of us love it for the same exact reasons. I'm glad the producers are carrying Gene's torch and advancing the messages.

  • @RobertMfromLI why do your waste your time responding to mikootz? He's a waste of valuable time and the best thing to do is just report him to youtube under thumbs down and it gives you an option to report him as inappropriate and flag him. If youtube gets enough complaints..they'll remove his account.

  • @wolfstev76 Eh, so an answer is somewhere on the first page... anyway, not going to block him or flag the comment. Hiding bigotry and/or hate solves nothing. Oh, and I was bored... ;-)

  • @SVRBROODGANGREL666 Yeah, you're an ass.

  • "Guess who?"

    "Mr. Sulu?"

    "You wish!"

    lol

  • It just does not feel like Star Trek with all the male to male stuff - I love what the episodes are doing overall but it is overdone - they could be gay without actually showing actual kissing and stuff. It ruins it when the style and feel of the show is hampered by such scenes. Not even Voyager bothered with such scenes for good reason. Things have their place in the universe but this is TOS Trek with a 60s flavour - I dont know how else to put it really without offending.

  • @LiteracyLabyrinth2 Sure! As soon as straight scenes are handled the same way. Until then, we refuse to discriminate because of people's personal sensibilities and prejudices.

  • @RobertMfromLI Fair enough mate. I hope you guys are going to make some new eps soon as I cant tell you how much I enjoyed these eps you created - absolutely stuning overall! The sets were mind snapping!

  • This is awesome, you are awesome, all of you are fucking awesome!

  • @HumilityandHonor Why thank you!

  • THE GAY SHIT NEEDS TO GO.

  • @cuttock Nope, needs to stay exactly where David Gerrold put it.

  • @RobertMfromLI i am only 15 minutes in to this i am not gay myself but this is what star trek is all about the rights of all peoples good job guys

  • @CaptainJellico1701d Bingo! Thanks for understanding and being a true Star Trek fan that understands what it's all about!!! :-)

  • @CaptainJellico1701d as of dec 15 2011 your rights are in question because of the new ndaa sec 1031 ..enjoy

  • @cuttock The bigots and homophobes need to go!!!

  • Gay in Star Trek? fuck off

  • @mikootz Get a life and grow up.

  • @RobertMfromLI

It's just not right mate, peace out

  • @mikootz Love is always right. Your own prejudices are your own... you can choose to keep them or to grow as a person. Some people are hardwired with same sex attraction - would you deny them love, or the ability to express it? If not, then what's different between this and opposite sex couples making out all over TV? Which brings us back to you re-evaluating your own prejudices and dealing with them. Fortunately, our team doesn't have such (hence the episode).

  • @RobertMfromLI

The 2 just don't mix, and in my opinion you just laid in the gay scene so that the episode seemed more "politicaly corect" and "judgement free" i'm surprized that you didn't throw in some anti-antisemitism or racial corect messege. It's not about anybodys prejudices,it's just wrong to smear the original Star trek concept and moral structure. If you really wanted to keep the ORIGINAL feeling. Everybody has an opinion W/e

I hate block texts and deep discussions on the internetz -_-

  • @mikootz *in your opinion* - 99% of our fans disagree.

  • @mikootz Homophobic asshole in my channel? fuck off.

  • Comment removed

  • @mikootz LoL, don't transpose your fantasies on me.

  • @RobertMfromLI I think it's great that their are gay characters who show affection in this episode. One of the basic ideals of Star Trek is non-discrimination and a future where all beliefs are accepted. However, I think the make-out scene could have been shorter. It could have been ended when they said "I love you" the last time. That would have been sufficient to establish their closeness. I would have felt the same way if it was a heterosexual couple.

  • @kaldemvor Ah yes, something we considered... but there's a lot of exposition in the dialog, and finding someplace else to put it was problematic - both in recreating the mood (ie: spending more time setting up another scene to cover it) and fitting it together. Flowed better with the character exposition in one place. And I don't think David (Gerrold) wanted to break up the exposition part either.

  • @mikootz keep in mind that STNG explored an episode touching on this subject. Also, don't forget there are actors within the Star Trek world that are gay. George Takei as Mr. Sulu for one. I will agree that the "rubbing" scene was not necessary when they were in their quarters. But, to curse a mans dream of all peoples becoming one in the future which eventually will happen whether anyone of us like it or not. Your use of foul language only demeans Gene's dream of uniting all of us.
