  • good commentary.

  • I appreciate your astute and articulate video. Even though you make valid observations about specific religions, the bottom line is this, it has nothing to with religion. There is no god.

I am an atheist. I believe in things that most won't or can't comprehend due to early indoctrination in religious beliefs.

Ann Coulter, in every instance I've ever seen her move her lips and heard sound come out, I've heard nothing but insane thoughts and ignorant beliefs. If she died tomorrow, I'd party.

  • @gordonfanchris I understand that. But the point of this video was not to defend her stance, but to stand up for the universal right of people to not have strawman arguments thrown at them. That required explaining her stance.

  • @CatNipFoYou The point of my video was that he shouldn't have been pissed in the first place, that the only reason he was pissed was that he totally and completely misunderstood what she was babbling about.

  • that is humble towards ones own "possible truth/falsehoods" and others "possible a suposed falsehoods". Dogmatism/pretentiousness are completely incompatible to the idea of tolerence, the word dosent mean anything anymore, its empty jargon.

  • This is a perfect example of why tolerence fails (hard). "I tolerate the jews but only to the extent that my text makes me better than them and I ALLOW them to go unperfected if they chose". Tolerence under such rediculous premises of fictional power relations and hirearchies fails. What we need is humble acceptance, this will never come from Ann Coulter.

  • @Xenophanes21

Now, I never said she was tolerant. I only sought to clear up a grave misunderstanding. Are her beliefs arrogant and inappropriate? Hell, yes. But the point is, as far as Jews are concerned, she tolerates them more than she does other non-Christian folk. And that's not an uncommon or isolated belief. It applies to much of Christianity.

  • @prolefeedprocessor yes, and my beef is with the entire system of christian tollerence--claiming it is inadequate and illusiory (we need to go further than that). Your analysis was quite valid and well spoken though, I didnt mean that as a personal attack...only pointing out that if your analysis is the case I am not happy with the state of affairs :P

  • @Xenophanes21

Agreed. I'm actually RIGHT NOW making a video about how I tend to forget to state my own position in the course of playing devil's advocate. :P

  • @prolefeedprocessor "It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it."-Aristotle (aka. the man)

  • @prolefeedprocessor That was a compliment btw

  • @Xenophanes21

    Yeah, I know. :)

  • What i don't understand is a selective outrage by any group of people.

  • that was not meant to be an anti jewish comment. I swear i hope it did not come out as one, i meant the Jews are a special Bronze age culture we should all love. Because of their profound affects on western and eastern civilization that is unquantifiable. Plus they did it without a great army just tricks.

  • @Yamat0man

That didn't come across as anti-Semitic. It was actually much to the point I was trying to make in my Satan-by-default video and anywhere I mention Jews. That's why I found it so odd that modern extremist Christian groups have such a hatred for Jews when over half of the book they revere most considers the Jews the chosen people of God. Same arrogance as every other tribal culture, but the Christianity spin-off just got lucky.

  • The other difference between Judaism Christianity and Islam is that Judaism predates the Greek word Religion (re is re igios is connect) & is a proprietary post-Greek idea, though the Greeks themselves never accepted like the Jews until much later the concept their scientific era came up with. Eventually, Judaism came to magically represent the original non-pagan religion, and the Jews and the rest of the world now accept this though all ancient cultures saw themselves superior that i know of.

  • Holy fuck, you're gay right?

  • @playlistchannel1

You're a smart cookie. Nothing gets past you, does it? :D

Not really sure what that has to do with anything in the video, though.

  • Their understanding of right and wrong comes from a stone age mythology. In a way I am shocked you are defending Islam in this video. They are trying to force there beliefs onto us and stop freedom of speech. They need to accept not everybody believes in their version of the religious fairy tale (which is EXACTLY what religion is), and they need to accept criticism of it.

  • @LynxAQ (part2) - This whole south park thing is as rediculous as that sign I saw held by one of their fanatics that said "Behead all who say Islam is not a peaceful religion..."

The fact that the company sensored the 2nd part of the mohammad thing was absolutely bullshit. They effectively submitted to terrorism... I thought we would never do that. People need to realise if they dont grow some balls soon and fight for freedom - it will be gone soon.

  • @LynxAQ

I think you totally misunderstand. I'm not defending Islam or their outrage. I'm simply really pissed off at people who don't understand the issue and complain about it. Who think that Muslims are offended over a "mean" portrayal of Mohammed, because that means they don't realize that all portrayals of Mohammed are offensive to Muslims.

    My frustration was with ignorance.

  • @prolefeedprocessor The problem is that muslims seem to have this deluded notion that their religion is infallible and in some oddball way seem to think their religion should be immune to criticism which is utter rubbish. Islam like all other fairytales should be scrutinised and seen for the rubbish they are.

  • @LynxAQ

I strongly agree. But I take issue with ignorance in all forms. We've got enough hordes of people criticizing Muslims, so I didn't feel that it was necessary to add that to my video. I was just really frustrated with people who were criticizing a strawman. Does that make sense?

  • @prolefeedprocessor I understand, but the problem from my PoV is that if everybody thinks like that - in not critisizing because "enough" are already doing it - then there is a good chance not enough will actually be doing it. I never hold back personally because it may have been done enough.

  • @prolefeedprocessor (part2) *Raises fists as Youtube* On Ann Coulter, I dont think there was anything wrong in defending her - I personally dont agree with her warped view on how the world should be and religion, but she is spot on with alot of political points imo. I never just dismiss a view just because of the person, thats the bit of ignorance than annoys me so much.

  • I don't think Ann's aware of what's actually in her own Bible, namely Matthew 5:17-20. I love watching all the spin made on that passage, to make it mean something it doesn't.

I agree with you regarding the host, by the way. If he understood the mentality of Christians, it wouldn't be offensive, just a little sad. He could've taken the opportunity to explain why Jews don't accept the New Testament, but I'm not sure he knows why.

  • I wasn't aware of that Presbyterian doctrine. I do know that they're Calvinists, which basically means that whoever is saved or damned is the result of a divine lottery conducted before the beginning of time. Also, God infallibly and unchangeably decreed absolutely everything which comes to pass. Try taking that to its logical conclusion...
