  • I used to own this! Great song.

  • Let's get something straight. Paul Therrio, (formerly of The Imperial Dogs), was the original bass player for Prime Evil. Hicks was a pale imitation. Roger became a total Chrisitian and denounced his rock and roll ways.

  • like two different bands

  • I played bass for Prime Evil in 76. Atomic Kid opened up for us at The Waters (on the upper balcony stage) many times. I think the Dogs did too. I also booked the Zippers at the Tasman Sea in Pedro a few years later. RIP Eric. Anyone know what happened to Roger or Danny?

  • @yapsterino yes I'd like to know the same thing, always interesting to see where people end up at in the end :P

  • I was the lead guitarist in a band with Bob Willingham called The Wanders, around `84. We never gig'd , just rehearsed for a year and a half.

  • Crappie009. The two Back Door Man singles by the Pop! were "Hit And Run Lover" b/w "Break The Chain" and "Down On The Boulevard" b/w "Easy Action" as well as a cover of the Kinks' "I Need You." (Boulevard and I Need You also appeared on the Pop!'s self-titled, indie LP on Automatic Records.)

  • One of four singles issued on Back Door Man Records (a spin-off of the now-legendary fanzine). The first two were by the Pop! and the other was a posthumous effort by the Imperial Dogs. (Zippers drummer Bill Willett -- pictured, second from left -- was previously the drummer for the Imperial Dogs. Sadly, Bill passed away in 2009.

  • @imperialdogs01 Which two by the Pop! ? Was 'Down On The Boulevard' one of them?

  • OMFG!!! thanks for posting this. i must've seen The Zippers dozens of times around various parts of LA and LBC. they preceeded the "punk" scene in LA.

  • One of the best singles to come out of LA. Great band. Great song.

  • Great song. Bob had a knack for writing catchy pop tunes.

Haven't spoken with him in over ten years. Hope he's doing well.

  • Not only do I own this single, but I just ran into Danielle Faye tonight, at a Cherie Currie book signing in Pasadena California.

She said the guys in Slow Children (a later band she was in during the 80's) want to reunite. But they live in NY and she is still in LA.

  • always loved this song, very strange indeed... great tempo shifts

  • punk bands always come up with the best names. the zeros..the swifties..bad brains..the weirdos..pure quality!

  • The Zippers were always highly regarded in the South Bay....I wis they'ld do a re-union!

  • I used to play with the girl bass player, Danielle Faye. Her sister wrote for a local L.A. magazine, Back Door Man. She was previously in Atomic Kid.
