For some time I have been trying to find out why the Jews were so hated in central and eastern Europe. Here in Czechoslovakia people would even regret their eventual return from KZ's shortly after the war. I think the origin of this immense hatred goes back to 19th century when Jewish middlemen and loan sharks check-mated many families of ordinary workmen who didn't cope well with the changing economic patterns.
@BaumerPaulGefreiter hmmm as a matter fact it was european nationalism and xenophobia...simply jews had no place to go...... 18/19th century was a time of forming national states.....hate towards everyone who was a stranger was a part of it.....
A complex question in the context of c 700 years of history in that part of the world. This should be taken into context: Jews were mainly in this part of the world as a legacy of persecution elsewhere in Europe: expelled from England, etc. centuries earlier (a fact conveniently ignored in most debates), they were not only tolerated, but actively invited by Poland's King Casimir in the 14th century where they flourished as a community. Cultural & religious differences and usury are key issues.
@mamzer1930 unfortunatelly we have been left alone with no help when germans attacked Poland.... we do remeber! now guys like spielberg dare to make movies on holocaust but than that even advised american government to ignore our begging for help! we do remember!
@MarcoBocoure Not to mention how the Poles were betrayed by Churchill. They fought to free Poland from the nazis, just to see it fall into the hands of the soviets instead.
@TequilAndLime mate no need to be rude! I know witold Pilecki he informed 'western allies' about situation in concentration camps.... also no one says Poles were not helping....on the contrary all my channel is very freindly towards Poles and Poland...so do not give me lectures!!!
A huge THANK YOU for acknowledging the German and Soviet horrors imposed on Poland from 1939. Unfortunately, it is all too common to see only mention of the German mass extermination of Jewish people that commenced in 1942, without regard to the horrors which occurred in the early years of WWII. Thanks for recognising that these atrocities were precedented by systematic mass killings of non-Jews by both Nazi Germany and their Soviet allies. ...
... It is a shame that such a rich Jewish cultural legacy was nearly wiped away after living in the relatively safe haven of Poland for several centuries. Thankfully, it is encouraging to see this legacy increasingly recognised and appreciated within modern Poland. It is also a shame that the west was unwilling and/or unable to do more earlier to act on the reports of Jan Karski and others.

@benz500r There is no such thing as european and soviet " jews", you moronic jews are descended from khazars, now back the fuck up north to khazaria, out of Middle east.
@Nickidewbear Shalom! I will investigate this for You....I would say Kolbuszowa.....if I am right this footage is by Mr Sapiro...Polish Jew who emigrated to USA and unpon his visit back to Poland he brought a camerawith him to film his friends, family....anyone from his old motherland...def south east prewar Poland.
@MarcoBocoure Toda v'Shabbat Shalom. Meanwhile, is there any old footage or photography of the Augustow/Suwalki/Bialystok area? My great-great-grandparents Julian and Aleksjondria Andrulewicza Chernetski (later Julian and Alexandria Andrulewicz Czarn(i)ecki) destroyed any trace of the family back in Lipsk, Krasne, etc. when they were here (From time to time, a friend would go over and get pictures; but they would pass them on and/or trash them themselves and did nor correspond with the family.).
Long story short, we converted during the pogroms and Julian's mom (Katarzyna Danilowicza Chernetska, who was listed as Katarzyna Czerniecka on Alexandria's Ellis Island manifest) was not happy about that. So Julian went to America & assimilated into Roman Catholic Wilkes-Barre to avoid any Anti Semitism (He was obviously an Ashkenazi Anusi.). Alexandria & son Antoni (my dad's paternal granddad) followed on May 18, 1908. By the way, she was not happy when he wanted to marry Dad's gentile grandma
@Nickidewbear There is actually some stuff on YT already...did You search for? I will be adding some videos on regardless....Du You speak or understand Polish? @MarcoBocoure .You are so right, but Spielberg was not born at that time.
I my self was in Holland and lost all of my family in Sobobor and Auschwitz.
And we did not know at the time wat was taking place in Poland, and we did not
get much help from the Dutch citizens.
America and other Nations ignored the suffering of all the Jews in occupied countries.
