  • @ithry18 there is one store in downtown it is called chez bong dont know the street name but behind a mcdonald

  • That's hot.

  • hey guys!! just made this dish today..It turned out great for my first try :) i recommend that you follow her intructions to the T but if you're gonna try to eye ball, try not to use too much potato starch. It'll taste a little gritty. Also, use a little more black suace or add a pinch of salt/fish suace to make it more flavorful. Also, Use more onion!! I know some of you are like gross...but once it cooks, it'll taste bery sweet. Well good luck to you guys!!! Thanks you Maangchi!!

  • can i NOT add the radish? i really don't like it

  • @MissVietnam9x Check out the photo of black bean paste that I use for jjajangmyeon on my website please. Ingredient section. It's called chunjang.

  • @Maangchi I found it ! I made it and I love it !!!! Thx so much 4 the recipe :)

  • @canada1901 I'm sorry to hear that. This recipe is modified actually. Read the recipe and the video on my website. Let me know the result if you make it again.

  • @Maangchi as I think I found 2 problems that might make the flavor not right. The radish tastes really bitter, it wasnt big as yours in video, maybe not the right one? 2nd is I might put a bit too much water in so I had to add more black bean paste :D. anyway, I will try again, ty for reply. wish you all the best

  • @canada1901 yeah next time if you make it again, I'm sure it will turn out delicious because it sounds like you already know what you are supposed to! : ) Happy cooking!

  • @rocketir16 Yes, real homemade jjajangmyeon (black sauce on noodles) is much tastier than instant jjajangmyeon. Let me know how your homemade jjajangmyeon turns out if you make it later.

  • This was my favourite food when I used to regularly visit Korea on business trips. I was pleased that when we cooked it to your recipe it tasted just like I remembered it. We substituted Parsley Root for the radish.

  • i see that you didn't add salt for seasoning.. is it ok?

  • @lovebugling yes, the blackbean paste is very salty, so you don't need salt. If you want to make jjajangnyeon, please check out the recipe on my website. The measurements are updated.

  • aw man, i accidently bought black bean sauce instead of black bean paste... is there a way i can make this recipe using black bean sauce? like... add cornstarch to make it thicker or something. it's very salty too...should i water it down?

thanks to whoever can help me out here!

  • Can I use ricenoodles instant of jajang noodles?

  • Pickled Yellow Radish is a must side dish for Jia jyang myeon. I can't eat it without it.

  • what kind of noodles did u use?

  • is meat important for this dish? i'm thinking about using mushrooms. <3

  • I was wondering, is there a way to make your own black bean paste?

    Is it even possible?

  • is there a chance that you can make Jumuluk?

  • @iWackynny I'm sorry to hear that! It is sold at a Korean grocery store. Check out the photo of black bean paste (called chunjang in Korean) on the ingredient section on my website. Cheers!

  • im curious, is the black bean paste taste sweet? i cant find it in the asian groc at my place. instead, i found this one canned black bean but it's the one used to make dessert. i suppose the canned one is sweet in taste. can i use it? or im afraid it will turn out to be sweet jjajangmyun LOL.

  • i love how i can always come back to your videos to refresh my memory. i am making this tonight! thanks, maangchi!

  • @possum419 Thank you! I wish you good luck with making good jjajangmyeon!

  • Thanks a lot! I loved this black bean noodles when I was in Korea a few years ago. Today I found your video, so I hurried to my asian food supply store, bought all ingredient like a maniac and give it a try know, hope it works :)

  • @tealson Please check out the recipe on my website. I corrected some measurements from this video recipe and posted on my website. When I filmed this video, I was not familiar with measuring stuff. : ) My written recipe on my website is very exact. If you follow the recipe step by step, you will make very delicious jjajangmyeon. Let me know how it turns out through my website please.

  • If anyone is curious where to buy 'chunjang' (black bean paste) & can't find it in any local Asian markets: hmart [dot] com sells this exact one Maangchi is using. ^___^

  • When did using olive oil in Korean cuisine become popular? I have seen it in lots of Korean grocery stores, but I don't think it is a traditional Asian oil....?

  • can i use black bean garlic sauce??

i don't have any black bean sauce at my local asian store :(

  • @0126achang Please check out the ingredients photos on my ingredient section on my website. To make delicious jjajangmyeon, you have to get black bean paste called chunjang sold at a Korean grocery store.

  • @Maangchi o okay :D thanks i can't wait to make some :D

  • @0126achang I used black bean garlic sauce and I thought it was pretty good. However, the only time I've had jjajangmyeon was when I've made it so I dont know how it compares to the real thing. I also used ground turkey instead of pork or beef.

  • i heard jjajangmyun is snsd's yuri's favorite food

  • I loooove jjajangmyun!! I’ve made it twice so far and tho it looks kind of hard to make, it’s actually really easy. It’s like a Korean version of spaghetti. =) Mmm-mmm, my mouth is starting to water! Lol.

  • Mmmmm! I can almost smell it.... lol

  • kam sam mida

you are a great cook and teacher

  • I never thought cooking would be so easy. Thanks for making cooking looks easy...I love your videos

  • Beautiful pan! =D

  • wow! that looks so yummy... i haven't tried jja jang myun... i so suddenly start craving for it...hahaha! thanks for the demo :-)

  • everytime you finish cook and taste it my stomach suddenly grawling. :D

  • Looks so yummy :O

  • looks nice! thank you for tutorial!

  • I always thought it was a Chinese food till I could not find a single Chinese restaurant that actually made this noodle dish. It is like a fortune cookies...they are available at every Chinese restaurant in the US but it is actually an US invention.

  • @fcia THis is in fact partly a chinese dish. It was made by Korean and Chinese mine workers back in the days when they had only black beans and noodles and the ingredients to make jjajangmyun and it was a hit! its not american invented in any way

  • @en3rgieboy

But it is still korean food though.

People call it chinese food because korean foods arent usually with myun and chinese foods are like that, and they make it in some chinese restaurants.

  • i drooled ... :(

  • When I have this dish at a restaurant, I'd taste more sodium. Maybe due to MSG, but I'd definitely taste more salty flavor from the JaJang Sauce.

  • i am so into this dish when i was still pregnant with my little girl...i was craving on it so badly that i had to call the siktang and buy two bowls of jjajang myun!now that iam not pregnant anymore, i still want it but this time, i want to cook and have my friends taste it coz im back home...

  • why am i watching this at night :C....-hungry-

  • can i make the black bean paste or is necesary buy it??
