Wow, how can the see the board for all the chalk damage. How can they manage at all. But they do apparently. Girls are in back because they are less than boys. Boys are considered higher and require first attention to education. Girls are seen as future mothers and wives for most part.
I saw one guy taking a sneak look at a girl.
But we must all agree, the classroom behaviour and attention, explemplary. Wish North American Schools had that respect!
these girls probably sit in the back because they dont want any guys to mess with them.
your observation is inaccurate like the whole western mind sit against the afghans, they alwasy have to look for something negative and if they dont find it they will make themselves believe and press it on others.
Then why don't you show videos of girls sitting up front? Why do many videos or stories of the middle east have women in very defined roles, whereas men have more freedoms.
This still happens in the Western world btw, so don't think I am not observant or critical of the Western ways.
These were observations, but try looking at other representations of Afghanistan.
Culture verses treatment of women is distinct in many countries.
I respect the strengths of both men and women and their differences.
However, I also see that if women were in the front middle eastern men would consider this a distraction for they may be attracted to a womans gestures.
(The woman will be blamed either way). I am not prejudiced about Eastern ways. Canadian women were considered non persons before 1919 in Canada and had to enact legislature to strike such a notion from government, so they could gain the vote and sit in parliament.
What you are have given as a reasoning is based upoon your cultural understanding - and therefore, does not necessarily apply else where (We should not be so narrow mind)
You are correct. People should not be so narrow minded. Perhaps I spoke out of turn or did not make disclaimers.
Then tell me, are women enouraged in the following manners: to be educated after highschool, to be allowed to marry whom they please, to not wear hijabs, to live on their own as single indepedent women who can direct their own lives?
If not, it is cultural? religion? law?
Finally, Is a woman allowed the exact same rights as males in all categories of Afghan life?
Maybe they don't have access to pins. I don't see these students as being really well off. We do realize parts of their country are under warfare zones or protection zones. Regardless, they seem like attentive students and we all pray they gain greater knowledge to make their country a better place in future.
Most if not all have put on their headscarf correctly - even without pins, may be the sisters in Canada learn how to put their Hijab onwithout pins as well - just incase she loses any of her pins and needs to go out to the shops to get some.
See, at this statement alone I see there are restrictions for women, even placed on how she must wear a scarf, verses, wearing a scarf in any fashion or manner.
Scarves can be worn many, many ways, it is fact they must not show their hair that is a concern. And why is this so? Men are allowed to expose their head of hair.
What it is is that mainstream AFGHANS were never strict about the scarf thing. It's about the SPIRIT of LOVING GOD, your fellow man. Modesty in dress in one part of that.
Muslims in other countries are strict about scarves, but not Afghans. We coo'.
@coolwater55 i really don't think we can tell an ancient civilization how they should dress or how they have the seating arrangement in a classroom, this is their country and we have no buisness telling them how they should be and anyway i for one wish our western women would take a lesson from these Afghan women and dress modestly, the way some western women get around in the street is disgraceful and embarrassing
@coolwater55 well firstly just by your "asking" is an affront, why would you need to know? 2nd exactly,so what is your point here? 3rd I "declare" that they are an ancient civilisation because they've been around for 1000s of years but your country has only been around for a few hundred as it is now. 4th well that's your opinion 5th well if that's your biggest problem with their education and life don't worry because they have an "outside" influence making their country hell and dangerous.USA
1. This video has been put on youtube, people are free to discuss it or not.
2. Ancient civlization. My roots go to ancient celtic peoples and family lineage can be traced for 600 years and peoples for 6000 years. So even though I live in Canada I come from ancient peoples.
3. I agree about outside influence making their life hell.
4. I still don't agree with women being treated as less than men. It seems the girls in video have less importance than the men. That was my comment.
Why I refer to my *ancient background* ( we all come from ancient peoples), is because we do not live 2000-6000 years ago. We live today.
I don't want to cause a huge argument. I am stating what this looks like to me. However, explanations are welcome. I still see that many times women in some countries do not have same privileges and rights as men.
I don't want women dressing horrible or acting horrible. I would like to see equal rights in education and life.

sorry but first part of your comment is utterly ignorant and unrealistic

1. Not in the least ignorant.
2. Not in the least unrealistic
Because both are true and accurate observations. The girls are in the back for a reason.

girls in the back means nothing

i understand you point of view and you are right offcourse what you are saying happens but not for the reasons you give.
men will not find it
''whatever" if women sit in front.
how about this?
if a woman steps into a bus and there is no place a man has to stand up and let her vacate his seat.
this has nothign to do with men trying to act like he deserves more or whatever.
i think you think that men in eastern countries especially afg are control freaks, women get better treatment than men.

Why cant the girls put there hijabs on properly like here in canada. It doesnt cost much only 2 pins and a scarf which they already have

1. I did not say to interfere with their customary code of dress. I asked respectful questions.
2. There are two extremes and everthing inbetween about codes of dress or treatment of women.
3. Why would you declare them an ancient civilization? If we lived 2000 years ago fine. We live in 21 st century.
4. I agree about the way some western women dress, but I do not agree with keeping some women from dressing how they please.
5. These women should be sitting upfront with boys IMHO.
