SO im planning on getting this gun for a backup and for my primary i use 7.4 25c lipos. If i were to use these in this gun should there be any issues with the gears or motor?
hey man i wanna upgrade my gen 3 src but I'm new to upgrading guns so i was just wondering what i should upgrade in my gun i already know I'm getting a tighter barrel
@TheCadpatReviewer well the big failure point on my SRC were the gears, the shaft of the spur gear came lose and snapped destroying it and my bevel gear as well as the pinion gear on the motor. The piston body is nylon fibber which is acceptable but the stock one is not reinforced so a good poly carb alliterative would be better. I had a friend that needed to instal a delayer on his SRC M4 because it was having some feeding issues. electrics are ok but it could be improved. Hope this helps.
hey danielthesard, what voltage battery were you using? i am currently using an 8.4v NiMh battery, and i was wondering what would happen if i used a higher voltage NiMH or low voltage Lipo, i would like to increase my Rof but i do want my internals to last as long as possible
please please help me, i would love to buy an src g36 (preferably a g36k) BUT i want qa GEN3 , where can i find one that is a gen 3??????? plz and thank you :)
So basically to use a lipo battery on my src g36c 3rd gen, the best would be to install m20 ? That's my first replica, but now I'm more tactical and I use m4 from Marui. Due to this i want to turn my g36c into a LMG by using lipo battery, precision internal barrel, 3000 rd mag and a bipod. What do you think about it?
Also to danielthesard you can buy a piston with all the teeth being metal reinforced for like 15dollars. So then you can keep using this setup if you like and you wont have to buy a new piston every few months. I believe shs makes the piston i am talking ahout. Also get some heatsinking paste off of ebay for like 5 dollars and look up how to heatsink wires. Itll make your gun last longer.
@Mr912Lancer just stick with a 9.6v The lipo isn't worth the wear. Also definitely don't use a lipo with a gen 2 The gearbox isn't up to it and also the wires aren't heatsinked. In fact the gen three isn't fully heatsinked.
The double o-ring is not there for better compression, but that the pistonhead does not make metal to metal contact to the cylinder, increasing consistency
When they say LiPo proof I'm thinking that they mean the wiring and the connections can with stand the the current running through it, aswell as some of the parts being above average. However that doesn't mean that it can withstand a 11.1 V LiPo battery. I'm running a 7.4v LiPo in a SRC HK 416 and its doing fine. I can understand if you want greater RoF but is it really worth it to shred up parts?
I'm not sure that swapping the spring for a stronger one is the best solution. It will lead to a quicker wear & tear of your piston since the gears will apply more force to the piston to move it back. Take note of Stealthmaster's and SpaceCowboy's comments. I would also add a MOSFET in this gun.
@Marjeezus What I ended up doing was simply going back to 9.6v use. I did not end up spring swapping. Also take note the lipo used did cause one of the axels on my gears to fail after this video was shot. I have since replaced both parts and the gun works great. A friend of mine bought it as his outdoor primary and it has been very reliable running a 9.6. In short a mosphet could have reduced alot of the damage and a high torque motor would have worked great as well.
I have an SRC Hk416.. The only part I hate about it are the exteriors... The internals are great.. Do you like using an assault rifles or your MG36 as a support weapon?
@alakazaman I actually just sold it. I used it for support. My load out is all mid sised to long arms so I thought i might try something a bit smaller instead of a beast like the g36 (it is slightly longer than my G&G gr16 "m16"). the externals on the g36 series were awesome. In the end I found that I really enjoy assault rifle formated weapons more than support. Too bulky for me.
@alakazaman Oh ok.. Im just wondering but how old are you?.. I'm thinking of getting an L96 from Ken or one of those TSD M700's from buyairsoft.. I need something quiet aswell as something that I can use for assaults.. What do you think?
its called premature engagement. It can also be fixed by short stroking the piston and gear, or by making your piston/piston head assembly lighter. this can be done by getting a polycarb p head or by Swiss cheesing the piston
@djrees77 I use white lithium grease. It was recommended to me by a very experienced gun doctor and works great. It is usually used to lubricate car doors and seats but it is perfect of gearboxes and is literally the same as most gearbox grease. As far as disassembly and reassemble goes it is the same as any other v3 box. VERY EASY. The gun itself is also very easy to take apart and disassembles the same as any other G36.
@Jaysofresh15 Canada was among the first to receive SRC gen3 guns there could be some minor discrepancy among earlier models. I am 100% sure it is a gen 3. for one it has a but load of parts that the gen 2 SRC gearbox does not have and I have a GIGANTIC GEN 3 on the side of it's box as well as in it's user manual and it's parts correspond with those that are listed online. I am sorry sir but you are mistaken.
Hi, i have a g36k gen 3 of src and im using a 8.4 volt battery and i have shot about 4000 rounds, do you think my piston is in bad shape right now or will be stripped like yours if i fire more rounds?, or 8.4 just cant stripped the piston?
@Haha1stAccount theoretically Yes. nylon fiber pistons should not wear out in even 20000 rounds I have put over 10000 thru my G&G and it has a lower quality piston. a 9.6v battery is really safe as long as your shooting <300fps (this assumes a certain spring force) 9.6v batteries rarly do much damage even in the 10000+ round count
@danielthesard Ohh I see, now that I know this, it makes it even harder to pick a gun. I'm pondering whether to get the SRC GEN III G36K, TOP TECH M4a1, or the VFC SCAR (only if it comes with FNH trades). Anyway, which of the three do you think is better all around?
@Haha1stAccount that is a hard choice. Personally form what I have seen on youtube and heard from people on ASC and JOC the VFC SCAR is crazy well built and super easy to field strip! I get to do some work on one this weak and I look forward to handling it. Unfortunately all I'm dinging is installing deans for a JOC member so no internals :(. SRC makes a wicked gun ad so does G&G (top) but to me the VFC looks VERRY well built but as I said I have no experience.
@danielthesard Alright thanks for replying so quickly :P I'll get the VFC SCAR as long as it comes with the complete trades. Otherwise, i'll get the top tech, I won't be getting the SRC G36k mainly because its such a long rifle and I only play CQB.
@danielthesard Wow, that's amazing. Okay I've made up my mind, I'm going to buy the VFC SCAR whether it comes with the trades or not :) Thanks for the links!
@Snowstorm45 that's exactly it. In fact it even took the lipo very well considering the velocity the gun was putting out. I must have compressed my spring over the winter or the spring was compressed while shipping. The gun was supposed to be shooting 400fps out of the box, last time I cronoed it was sitting at around 340fps I re-stretched the spring and now it is firing at closer to 400 according to the poor mans crono (and range). I think that a good portion of the problem was a light spring.
SO im planning on getting this gun for a backup and for my primary i use 7.4 25c lipos. If i were to use these in this gun should there be any issues with the gears or motor?

@TheMarkymark316 not at all a 7.4 puts out about the same as a 9.6 NIMH at full charge.

How fast was it shooting with a fully charged 9.6v? (ROF)

You dont have to pay $80 for good gears.

9.6v is about the same as a 7.4 lipo...So I shoutld be fine using a 2200mah 7.4 lipo right?
BMX3RKID 3 months ago
@BMX3RKID yes that will work fine. I run 7.4v lipos now this was after 11.1v lipo use.
danielthesard 3 months ago
Don't but a 9.6V, there still is the 7.4V LiPo's. Buy a 2000mah or higher and it will work for days AND have a awesome rate of fire :)

Hello Danielthesard,
I am about to purchase SRC G36 gen III and have a question. Is SRC internal parts compatable with any other manufacturers like TM, CA?
kairimantas 1 year ago
You just need to remove down the 2nd tooth and adjust the AOE. SRC high torque motors don't have a very fast rof, even with a lipo.
Looks like I'm too late though lol

Is this the same as the Gen.III gearbox in the M4? If so, do you know the main differences between this and the Gen 2 model? (M4). Thx.

@Wazzzzzuuuuppp This is not the same gearbox. M4's use a V2 the G36 uses a V3...
