The P2 can only pull around 40,000 lbs because it only has a single rear axle. If it had 2 rear axles, I have no doubt it could haul 80,000 lbs. But with only one, try to put 80k on it and the front end lifts off the ground.

semi trucks don't actually pull 80k. that is the max gross weight under law. they can weigh 80k with truck+trailer+cargo. realistically they only have max 50,000 lbs in the trailer. add the trailer weight. Goes up to about 60,000 lbs. with this you're looking at 25,000lbs+ kingpin weight on a single axle truck. sportchassis trucks have a 17,500lb rear axle rating. most semi trucks have twin 40k axles. Same performance with a sportchassis? I don't think so. Oh, and I was referring to tow cap.

I am not sure if torque works the same way but if you had 2 Bmw X5M engines in a truck, wouldn't that give 1110bhp and 1000lb-ft, for a 8.8L engine? Compared to a 9.3L with 330bhp and 950lb-ft. OR, A Lamborghini Aventador 6.5L with 700bhp and 690lb-ft, compared to the Ford F450 6.4L with 350bhp and 650lb-ft. The Aventador has relatively the same engine size, but has twice the power and has slightly more torque.

@PandaMagicFTW They're diesel engines designed to operate in certain specs for a specific job. A LOT of torque in a very short powerband at very low operating RPM's. But the main thing you need to know is, these engines are capable of MUCH MUCH more power. They're designed to put out enough power for the job without "breaking a sweat" so that they last a very long time without breaking. In other words they're over engineered on purpose.

Like I said, the engines are engineered differently. Truck engines for pulling bigger loads, BMW, Lambo for speed/acceleration. Even if you somhow get two BMW X5M engines to work together, they are still not engineered to pull. You also have to put into account the Truck chassis against a Lambo,BMW one.
