You know, I have a love/hate relationship with this. I think its well executed, and i like some of the animation and the techincal prowess is great. I dislike the character design though, and the voices, especially slithe. And Lion sounds too much like a douchebag. like the kid in high school who was popular because he was a dick.

It's so subtly clever that you don't even realize the deviation from human at first, not until you pay attention to the few close shots. Pause at 0:470:480:49 Dat sexay nose, fo real!!!! And his eyes. Neither the 1980s nor the 2011 version (both of which I like, btw) accentuated feline aspects like that.
Okay. So if this was supposed to be real. Possibly a WB future production, Why were they playing the soundtrack to the Pirates of the Caribbean in the background.
im guessing none has seen the new toon, this cgi isnt bad, lion-o is cool and plays the boy in a mans body thing well. but if that was slithe, id be disapointed, too far from the original character. not bad tho!
It's a shame they put this on hold. Would have created renewed interest in the series. Sure, it may not be as good as the original series, but on its own it looks like it would have stood out. Good 3D fantasy epics with swords and sorcery are hard to come by.

The people who own the rights to Thundercats choose the production companies they do for a reason. There trying to get a new generation into a classic that many of us grew up with. Just like with the crappy cell shaded spider man show or the new anime xmen that blows chunks. Its hard to make a creative decisions without pissing of one group of people. Id like to see one of you make a better a plot line or draw the damn cartoon yourselves. of course its not the same. hence the word NEW
Honestly, it would have been a hell lot worse. This is still acceptable as far as I can see. Considering that whenever we watch a CGI or Live Action take of a cartoon we all consider them almost non-canon to the original cartoon. So let them run with it, sink or swim, there is always something to be learned.
Honestly, I actually like this. Some alterations to certain details and it could be perfect. I'm hoping the new show helps get a movie made. It's just sad this really never had the chance to make it to an actual full length movie. Oh, and to those saying it's fake, do some research. It was a kid's show. But Batman was for kids back in the day. The series had some actual good fundamentals. A good base "I'm saying this off of my childhood memory, I haven't seen it since). They should do like Christopher Nolan did and take the best aspects of the show, maybe add a couple small things, and make it shine!... The awful nature of the dialogue ALONE could depress even the world's happiest clown. It's on par with the He-Man liveaction movie. I know that's a test run, but with how high the bar has been set by Avatar and Transformers, the CG was forgettable at best. I'm surprised, given what movies have shot through Hollywood's colon lately, that this wasn't green lighted for the sheer "established fan base" that seems to be a prerequisite now a days. (The Crow remake, or any remake really, for example.)
If the GI Joe and Transformers movies are any indication, the reason this didn't get greenlit was because it was TOO faithful to the source property. "Can't it take place on Earth? In New York? And shouldn't Lion-O be someone we can identify with, like a workaholic businessman who never has time for his kids? And can Snarf have a big gold tooth and be voiced by Chris Tucker?"
What a pile of pants!!! Part of the beauty of Liono was the hair alone, to not stick with that even... at least get the original cast to do the voice overs.
The makers should watch Thundercats 'Exodus', learn a few things.

WOW, so glad this did NOT get greenlit. Nothing about that was thundercats except the character names and title. The trailer for the new series on cartoon network looks infinitely better. I would love to see a thundercats movie, or thundercats in CG, even if it's just direct to video. Take another stab at it, guys. If the cartoon is a success, now is the best time to try again.

@VemberJudgement The original show was indeed one of my favorite cartoons (or anime, if you will), and before each episode aired, i eagerly awaited in front of the tube. I also remember (about a year and a half ago, whas it?) an excellent, IMHO, fake trailer (the best i have seen, honestly), featuring Brad Pitt as Lion-O, Vin Diesel as Panthro e.t.c., and it certainly took my hopes up for a real movie, even for a little. But watching these garbage makes my angry & sad to say at least...

Thank God this never came to fruition. its in my opinion that the movie should not be Lion-O's journey from boy to man. Because you want to go into it having Lion-O represented as the badass leader that he is. You don't want some story of a pussified Lion-O and him meeting his friends setting up everything for sequels.
Throw us straight into the action of the movie. Only thing that could use a meatier story telling could be the sword of omens. And maybe the origins and intentions of Mumm-ra.

First off, YES, Lion-O was an 11 yr-old who's capsule got damaged when they escaped their planet, which was destroyed by enemies, and instead of stoping his ageing it simply slowed it down. So his mind is remains like that of a kid while his body is that of a young adult. Second, this movie has been officially defunct. So, yup, this film will not see the light of day. You can find the leaked OFFICIAL script online if you know where to look. Heard it was pretty good. But there was no Snarf in it.

though i wonder, why does he look so young? is this before thundera was destroyed? even then, hes much too old, as lion-o was only like 11 when the planet was destroyed. seems like a hard thing to overlook. hell, in the related videos to the side there, you can see how young lion-o was. (SE01EP01)

Guys, give it a break. it shows lion-o there before he becomes the leader. don't you hear "your first real fight" line? he still has to grow muscles, get some armor and fighting skills. its just the start! i think if that was kept in work, lion-o would look badass just as he always did. i like it at all! gonna favorite it. btw the animation and the characters face look like they're from the same company that made "madagascar", don't you think? lol. madagascar is a GREAT work, keep that in mind!

It was a kid's show. But Batman was for kids back in the day. The series had some actual good fundamentals. A good base "I'm saying this off of my childhood memory, I haven't seen it since). They should do like Christopher Nolan did and take the best aspects of the show, maybe add a couple small things, and make it shine!... On second though, they could just give the idea to Christopher Nolan.

The awful nature of the dialogue ALONE could depress even the world's happiest clown. It's on par with the He-Man liveaction movie. I know that's a test run, but with how high the bar has been set by Avatar and Transformers, the CG was forgettable at best. I'm surprised, given what movies have shot through Hollywood's colon lately, that this wasn't green lighted for the sheer "established fan base" that seems to be a prerequisite now a days. (The Crow remake, or any remake really, for example.)

If the GI Joe and Transformers movies are any indication, the reason this didn't get greenlit was because it was TOO faithful to the source property. "Can't it take place on Earth? In New York? And shouldn't Lion-O be someone we can identify with, like a workaholic businessman who never has time for his kids? And can Snarf have a big gold tooth and be voiced by Chris Tucker?"

WOW, so glad this did NOT get greenlit. Nothing about that was thundercats except the character names and title. The trailer for the new series on cartoon network looks infinitely better. I would love to see a thundercats movie, or thundercats in CG, even if it's just direct to video. Take another stab at it, guys. If the cartoon is a success, now is the best time to try again.

@VemberJudgement The original show was indeed one of my favorite cartoons (or anime, if you will), and before each episode aired, i eagerly awaited in front of the tube. I also remember (about a year and a half ago, whas it?) an excellent, IMHO, fake trailer (the best i have seen, honestly), featuring Brad Pitt as Lion-O, Vin Diesel as Panthro e.t.c., and it certainly took my hopes up for a real movie, even for a little. But watching these garbage makes my angry & sad to say at least...

Thank God this never came to fruition. its in my opinion that the movie should not be Lion-O's journey from boy to man. Because you want to go into it having Lion-O represented as the badass leader that he is. You don't want some story of a pussified Lion-O and him meeting his friends setting up everything for sequels.
Throw us straight into the action of the movie. Only thing that could use a meatier story telling could be the sword of omens. And maybe the origins and intentions of Mumm-ra.

First off, YES, Lion-O was an 11 yr-old who's capsule got damaged when they escaped their planet, which was destroyed by enemies, and instead of stoping his ageing it simply slowed it down. So his mind is remains like that of a kid while his body is that of a young adult. Second, this movie has been officially defunct. So, yup, this film will not see the light of day. You can find the leaked OFFICIAL script online if you know where to look. Heard it was pretty good. But there was no Snarf in it.

i actually got kind of chilly when he summoned the power of the sword of omens.
though i wonder, why does he look so young? is this before thundera was destroyed? even then, hes much too old, as lion-o was only like 11 when the planet was destroyed. seems like a hard thing to overlook. hell, in the related videos to the side there, you can see how young lion-o was. (SE01EP01)
