I watched the "8-part series" in YT. Thanks so much for uploading. Amazing story. Truly inspiring. It's no wonder why she is fearless now, having gotten past all the obstacles. As a performer, beyond the gift of a powerful voice, to be able to improve on a performance by drawing from past experiences, is more impressive for me.

As a parent, I am inspired by her mother. I want to be able to raise my kids to have the same drive and determination but at the same time be forgiving and hopeful.

Filipinos r raised 2 be respectful 2 our elders, that even if someone is not a relative but older than we are, we call her ate (pron. as a-te-older sister) manang (ate in Ilocano) kuya(older brother) tita(aunt) Tito(uncle) aside from Ka, Kaka (common in Batangas); Tatay, Tatang (father) Inay, Nanay(mother)Lolo (grandpop) lola(grandma). We are not comfortable calling an older person by his/her name. That is the way we r raised. But others saw it as subservience, w/ch actually is not .
