  • She makes me want to be a hippie - or wear a bandana! :o)

  • How can there be dislikes for this beautiful video. It's a pretty girl having fun while playing music that's good enough to light up anyone's mood. Well done! :)

  • Either she is really small or that guitar is really big. Epic cover by the way!

  • A novel take on an already complex tune. Well done!!

  • Cool, you are so nice. The main thing that you enjoy playing guitar & you rock! Keep doing it. Greetings from Moscow :-)

  • There is nothing sweeter than to see someone lost in the moment fo whatever it is they are doing. You young lady looked as if you could not be more happy. That is an awesome thing

  • toca muito!!!

  • That was beautiful! very good work, keep it up.

  • I love how you play this with your own style and you're having fun with it! Love this song! :)

  • she is really getting down.

  • Yet you tag Kaki King... Great passion, that's what it's about. I personally think the original Ritual Dance was better, but that's pretty good.

  • jajaja esta wena pero mucho t ries :)

  • Hey Avursso

Glad to find this vid here - always happy to see other Hedges fans !!

If you haven't found it already, you might be interested in this site...

(had to remove the dots in order for it to post here ...)

  • i appreciate that you are having fun and have passion for the guitar, but this isnt the piece at all... i mean the structure only slightly resembles that of the real song. you should really try to learn it off of a tab or something because this is really not ritual dance by michael hedges.

  • @Wcburg1 Wow, it's called putting yourself into the cover... Have you seen Micheal's cover of All along the watchtower? Go ahead and comment that he doesn't sound like the original at all..

  • @penpal222 you have to realize that this person is obviously not "covering" the piece as in they are remixing it or changing it, but covering it meaning they are just playing the piece as it is written. michael obviously did not intend to completely copy all along the watchtower, but change it and make it his own, but this girl is not trying to change it all.. it says in the description she's learning it, meaning shes trying to play it verbadum, and how it was written, but she has it incorrect.

  • Glad you know this guitarist!!! Do you want to learn some more Michael Hedges? I don't know this one... maybe I will play it someday :) have a great day -ag

  • I loved August Rush because Freddie Highmore's character was smiling when he'd perform, and you can feel the music as he played. I love watching you because you enjoy the music :) Who cares if you have a little slips here and there, I can see that your really feel the music :)

  • good job!

so it's two years later now, ready for a new version? ;)

  • You go girl!

Awesome job and keep on pickin'.

Don't be discouraged by idiot comments!

  • lol this totally wrong...

  • um... youre cute! stay at the guitar. it brings me such passion when i play mine :) forever music

  • 114 likes and 39 morons. Another vote for "awesome!!!!"

  • amazing !

look ! you can see the fire in der eyes while she´s playing ... and smiling ;P !

  • kick ass job =D

  • I am so proud so say Micheal was a personal friend of mine . he would be proud of you ... I'm honored for him .

  • That's funny! I noticed that there's people who doesn't play nothing and they want to judge her =D

  • toca bem!

  • this sounds nothing like the version on august rush, and you have august rush in the tags, HOWEVER! it was still absolutely amazing, way better than anything i can ever dream of playing, and you obviously enjoyed yourself, kudos! : )

  • donno abt that .. but ur cute :P

  • there are only two cover i like to watch over and over again, and one of them is yours, i like the way, you enjoy and you feel for the piece, awesome, thanks

  • Very good start. Hard song to cover, thats for sure

  • Very nice job! I hope that you continue playing and learning this style. You sound very good. Lots of practice with a good helping of natural talent. Well done!! I'd love the opportunity to play together sometime.

  • So, it's a bit easier cover, than original, but supergreat too :-)

(That fools maybe think that there could be somebody like next Hedges, but it's impossible ;-))

    Great work, keep playing...

  • the tuning is dadgcc so u know but nice cover!

  • Wonderful!! I love your groove and feel. You look like your having a great time too. Você é um música bonita. Sorry, my portuguese isn't good.

  • the beginning has to be calmer, slower, with a slight pause

  • While not technically proficient, yet....., you have captured the essence of what Michael Hedges was about....the joy of making truly soulful music. Great Job! Michael would be so proud of you, I think.

  • pay no attention to the fools below. Attempting Michael Hedges is a feat in itself never mind playing it exactly the same! Great job!

  • even if there is mistake... the smile on your face and how much fun your having playing it is nice to see! good luck with it tis a hard one! x

  • Nice free interpretation. I think Hedges himself would say "Good job, girl!", despite the only thing in common with Ritual Dance is tuning). Lots of love.

  • YOU SUCK

  • @shenmue4life and so do you

  • are you trying to cover the kaki king version or the michael hedges version. im going to guess kaki. . . am i right

  • @pavfo

I think she's quite pretty. And I enjoyed her rendition of the song. It's called Ritual Dance. It's about expression and movement and smiling. Make it your own.

Pavfo, on the other hand, seems to be an annoying little 13-year-old prick who is uncertain of his own sexuality.

  • very nice

  • Is that a Takamine your playing? If so I believe I have the same one.

  • ooh lol you dropped the plectrum on purpose...

  • what tuning? DADGAD?

  • @guitar257 I believe its DADGCC, if i remember correctly...

  • Im not sure anyone can play Michael's work but you came pretty close!!! :^)))

  • bravo bravo bravo!!!

girls that can play guitar make it that much better. but you did a good job nontheless

  • this sucks btw you arent even playing it right at all

  • love that smile all along...

  • Way to feel it, chica. Jesus, do people think they have to say "liked the original better"? It's Hedges, you don't cover Hedges and think you're going to reinterpret it or add something to it. It's like quoting Dante, you don't imagine that by quoting him you're saying it better, it just feels nice to have a connection to utter genuis. Give somebody a break. You were clearly connected to it, played the parts you played well. It ain't perfect cause it ain't Hedges.

  • Comment removed

  • You ve got a beautiful smile ;)

  • Sick, thats cool!!

  • a sexy babe rocking on a guitar. Every man's dream.

  • すごい!!!

    感動した;;

  • As I began to watch this video a certain rage, envy, and wrath began to fill my soul. The strumming was so tight but yet my heart hated her strumming. Her hair was nice...but my heart hated it too...overall just a general hate/wrath/demonry/violence/death

  • poetic somehow, friend .

  • LOVE

  • ??

    like the original better

    but great job

  • Ainda arruma uma namorada que toque violão. rss Brincadeiras a parte, parabéns você é uma excelente instrumentista!

  • yeah!! soooo cool!!

you're really having fun at this... nice to hear and to watch aswell!!

  • this is hardly a cover at all...it's nothing like the original, not even slightly. i think it's a humourous aspect of society that the only reason you'd get any attention is because you're smiling and you're female.

anyone who can play guitar can hold a groove in open tuning.

  • I think its amazing,

And she's gorgeous, and her movement and emotion is beautiful.

    <3

  • i love u

  • cool new interpretation of the song!

This girl can hold a groove!!! pretty tight strumming. Keep it up.

  • dont know why but that pissed me off. sucks

  • Who cares if it doesn't sound the same as the original, part of covering a song is making it your own. Good job

  • thats a pretty cool tune young lady!!! But its a Streeeetch to call it a Ritual Dance cover!! Course you know that ,,,your just haning fun!!! Hedges would slap that guitar out your hands!

  • It's okay but as the one guy said down there, the overhand isn't really necessary. I didn't really enjoy how they ended up showing this piece having Kaki King Play it overhand in August Rush. They merely seemed to try and improve it's visual aspect, when in all essence the sound is what matters.

    None the less nice cover.

  • nothing like the original.

    pretty bad.

  • dude leave the girl alone dont you see her smile shes enjoying it and it sound good

  • damn nigga you just jealous you cant play like that faggot

  • awesome playing please post some more!!!

  • So did you ever learn this tune?

  • awesome! mind doing a tutorial?

  • your awesome. love if you'd wanna teach me that.

  • you are friggin awesome. end of story. adorable too if i may add.

  • of course shes playing you dumbass.. wow. Awesome cover, its always good to do your own thing. Just kinda make it your own ^^

  • I agree with Heman3457, let the girl play! she looks like she is enjoying the piece and has a passion for the instrument. Unlike you negative people who have really nothing nice to say.... And they are normally the people with nothing to offer.

  • thank you.

  • Ok - it's nowhere near 'ritual dance', but it has a nice ring to it. Tryto develop it into something of your own.

    Greetings

    bb

btw: get rid of that useless overhand moves. Sounding good has priority over looking cool while playing.

  • its fake u can tell by the start

  • :-) thanx this is also amazing....

    talk soon

  • bullshit////

    THe Sounds has been rusted..jeje

  • Hey there sweet girl! I love you) Great play, great smile)

  • You play with a brilliant passion and a joy of livin! This is wonderful! You don't have to play the notes any particular way. You do it your way, with a beautiful smile, be proud of yourself, thankyou.

  • I'm glad the late Michael Hedges is appriciated.

  • dam girl you jam!very impressive Michael Hedges is not the easiest shit to play.good job!

  • This is his easiest song and the most fun to play in my opinion.

Oh and by the way - you're hot!

  • nice!

  • te amo! no isiste la parte del final pero aun asi te amoo jaja xD

  • Your happiness and play make me happy :-D Yeah!

  • i'm currently trying to figure this one out . it's pretty difficult and although ive studied classical piano for 13 years, this song makes me feel rhythmically dyslexic...been teaching myself guitar for the past 3 years, and i'm exploring new tuning systems (DADGAD) and (DADGCC)... how do you get the harmonics to sound so good? anyways, it isn't exact to the recording, but it still sounds neat....screw everybody that asks you what you're playing... this is music... it doesn't have to be exact.

  • one way i have learned to get the harmonics is to practice it at the 12 fret harmonic. lightly put your fingers across the bottom 3 strings or so and right as you strum, pull off. It will take some practice but i hope this helps ya.

  • dont place it exactly on the 12th fret, put it above the metal fret piece in front of the 12th "fret" (in between the 12th and 13th frets) you dont even have to exactly lift off after.

  • the little metal piece is the actual fret... the place you put your finger is the fretboard before the the fret in which the pitch is sounded... so by saying place his finger at the 12 fret, that's saying to place it over that "metal fret piece"

  • I agree with AniFilmer on the fact that hedges doesn't get alot of the credit he deserves, however i do prefer the kaki king version from august rush. it sounds more more crisp and clean. but a beautiful piece of music by both peformers though.

  • this is not ritual dance!!!

Have you ever heard the song?? Even once??

  • Wow girl!!! You really made a great tribute to Michael Hedges! And you're cute... :) /Matts from Sweden

  • It makes me sick that no one gives Hedges the respect he deserves.

In all honesty, screw Kaki King. She's not the one who wrote the beautiful piece that is ritual dance.

Commenting on this, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU PLAYING?

    This is not Ritual Dance.

  • Uh... dude. This sounds more like Hedges song than Kaki's. She credits Hedges, so please just shut the hell up.

  • No you shut the hell up.

I have all of Hedges albums and I can assure you this does NOT SOUND LIKE him.

I have no idea what your listening to, but if you think this sounds like Hedges, you don't know Hedges.

So think before you make an ass of yourself. Mmm kay?

  • It does sound like it.

Kaki's version, though faster, had a much fuller sound to it. The notes never died, and Hedges played much quieter.

So don't be a fucktard. Okay?

  • 1:17

I wouldn't call that Hedges would you?

I wouldn't even call that Kaki King.

    "It does sound like it"

Okay no it does not. have you even heard the damn song?

My guess is no, so in effect, you are the "fucktard"

  • Yes I have heard the song.

The only difference I even hear is that she's using Kaki's tempo, otherwise it's the exact same.

So, in effect, YOU are the "fucktard"

  • the fucktard is you, animfilmer.

Let the girl play, and have fun with his own good version of the song man.... it's don't have to be the exactly thing to be good. If you want to hear the hedges version, search in youtube for it okay? You are just wasting time here. :)

    *bad english*

  • Also, I just played hedges song over this, it's almost the exact same except her tempo is faster.

  • meh

  • Oh, and this is not, in any way a diss on the girl playing in the video. Much respect and keep it up =).

  • Kaki King did not re-write the song.. Kaki King along with the girl on this video, as well as 100's of thousands of other people since the early 80s, covered this song.. Give Michael Hedges some respect please. The only reason people label this song as a Kaki King song is because they don't know any better. Many have covered and copied but *MICHAEL HEDGES WROTE THIS SONG*

  • nice..teah me

  • hey, if shes smiling theres nothin wrong with it, music is a way to express urself so leave her be =\

  • MICHAEL HEDGES wrote this song ,show some respect and do some research

  • Well you'd also know that Kaki King rewrote the Michael Hedges song for the movie August Rush, you could also notice the brevity of the song.

  • Nice stuff! It's a great song...keep it up!

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL 1:16 THE PICK FLIES OUT OF HER HAND.

    omfg i laughed pretty hard

  • got a feeling that was on purpose...

    ..or no? *shrug*

  • nice work..i'm learning it right now

  • You're a freakin amazing human.

  • The pick flew out of your hand?

  • She played this song much better on August Rush...

  • agreed. Even though its not her song.

  • you meant Michael Hedges- ritual dance. the fact that kaki king even tried to play this pisses me off. she doesn't even come close to the originality of michael hedges.

  • I like Kaki's version better, what pisses me off is that Kaki is allowed to just because Hedges is dead.

  • looks like you had a good time :)

  • great performance, I loved it!

  • It sounds like you learned the chords in the song and randomly played them.Sorry no offence, but it just wasn't that good

  • Alright, here's the story.

It sounds almost nothing like Kaki King's "Ritual Dance" but it is still really good. If you posted it as "Me trying to play Ritual Dance but really just strumming and using the same chords she does" then it'd be perfect.

Don't get me wrong, it's really good, just not like Ritual Dance.

  • I kinda agree. Still pretty damn good.

  • totally agree , your still a skilled guitarist

  • I loved the way you got so into it. :)

You must've worked super hard to get it to sound like that.

You are my new inspiration. :DD

  • please tab it!!!!!!

  • lol i like how you totally just chuck your pick over your shoulder.. good job

  • wow..

it was pretty cool... nice skills!

i just loved your smily playing... it was so coherent with the song..

thanks for this.. you glad my day. :D

  • MWAH!!

  • So cool to see you get so into it!

You should play the original version (Michael Hedges) the song's twice as long :)

  • like the energy, keep it up...

  • lol your guitar makes a popping sound when you hit it

  • ...now, can anybody tell me where I could learn this play from, I really really want to learn it. Please help.

    Thank you.

  • This is pretty easy to learn by looking at tabs, but the thing about the tabs are that I don't think it tells you the harmonics. Other than that its easy.

  • Agreed.

  • how did u learn it

  • i love your Smile!!!! is beautiful ^^

  • Amazing!!! love then energy!

  • You're making too much noise, just hit the strings you need to hit

  • Hey exactly.

  • Stop having so much fun!! J/K Great job as usual.

  • cool

  • WaaW !! Great video! O loved your personallity. Whrere ar u from\? O loveed, seriously, this video ;)

  • You have such an amazing smile.
