He's right, Trix commercials made me selfish, "War of the Worlds" turned me into a Scientologist, "Passion of the Christ" turned me into an anti-semite and rap music turned me into a pregnant teen.
parents are to blame for not teaching there kids right, not games. Hell I seen shit on TV that seems more violent then DOOM, or GTA. and there is an underlining thing, what's in the game isn't real, all data, all 1's and 0's, and lins of basic. if you let your 5 year old play a violent game and not see the rating and not tell him/her that it isn't real, you don't deserve to be a parent! althou my parents didn't teach me what's real and whats not, I learned my self, cuze it's a game!
@DragonMatt87 I have a 14 year old son and I've always brought him up on the movies that i grew up with as well as teaching him the will of God. Now he plays these violent games but he assures me that he is not influenced by it at all. He says that he takes it as just a game. Anyway, I'm proud of what I have taught him.
They're saying 1st person shooters help gamers develop skills, learn to kill effectively, practice accuracy. I heard the military uses games in training for that reason. Sounds reasonable. So what? Should we ban games so the next generation of school shooters aren't good at it? How about we focus on developing a habit of thinking "Am I sure this is a good idea?"
If a child is unable to distinguish contextually or actually between a video game & reality then the child requires urgent medical attention...And the parent(s) need to be brought to the attention of the social services.
Mommy & Daddy just need to stop being so fucking lazy in their child rearing...that is all.
Violence in everyday life is not directly caused by violence in video games. Most video game users are already aware of the violence portrayed in video games before they even begin playing the video game. If the solution to decreasing violent acts in everyday life is eliminating violence from video games, what about removing violence from tv shows, violent musical lyrics, movies, and the 6 o'clock news?
I think violence in video games can lead to children learning violence is allowed because they are playing games that use violence and could start to think that its okay becuase their parents are letting them be exposed to it.
If someone kills another person over a video game, they were psychologically messed up in the first place. Don't blame the game, anything else in the world could just as well set off the violence that is ALREADY PRESENT.
Theres something called a rating system so in the end, if a kid goes crazy its the parents fault for letting them get the game. Also killing low res zombies in house of the dead wont necessarily make crazy kids want to kill people just zombies.
Time to put this "debate" to rest. I have played GTA, Killzone, Halo, Doom, Bioshock, HalfLife 1 & 2, well a lot of "viloent" games for as long as I can remember. I'm now 29 and I own a model 21 Glock semi-automatic pistal, a Ruger Mk 2 semi-automatic pistal, and a Mossburg shotgun. I have had the Glock handgun since 2003 and the shotgun since 2001. I have never murdered anyone! I have never stollen a car. I have NO criminal record. Video games do not brain wash anyone into being violent.
Video games don't affect kids; I mean if Pacman had affected us as kids we'd be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills, listening to repetitive music.
Ive played Doom Manhunt Hitman Bully Soilder of Fortune Duke Nukem Resident Evil Bio Shock Scarface Max Payne and every single GTA title since I was about 6 and Ive never killed anyone
come on!!! it's a 2D game ffs! I would learn more about weapons from my damn grandma then playing that game!! please blame something that actaually are worth blaming...
im afraid to play gta 4 cuz i dont wanna leave my house, steal a porshe, find a hooker, fuck her, run her over, beat her brains out with a bat, take out a chainsaw and cut her into pieces, then have a **** car chase with police ending in with a total of 1 dead hooker. 271 dead pedestrains. 54 dead police officers. and 30 destroyed vehichles, fuck it ill play anyway lol
oh yea games totally creat violence....what where those one video games called, the ones hittler used to play? or the ones charles manson,or the executioners back in the 1900s used to play?
we know that what happens on video games are just fantasy cause most of us are between 16 and 25, and so on. parent just need talk to their kids to tell them all that is fake, but it looks like is just easier to rant about it when you got a book to sell, or when just need to get votes. parent just dont see that they are rising a child STUPID enough that emulates what he sees on the game
@assblaster17 I have a 14 year old son and I've always brought him up on the movies that i grew up with as well as teaching him the will of God. Now he plays these violent games but he assures me that he is not influenced by it at all. He says that he takes it as just a game. Anyway, I'm proud of what I have taught him.
Here is how I see it. Parents complain about their kids playing these games, but who's fault is it if the children play these violent games? Not the game industry, parenting is a responsibility, and just like adult content is kept away from the kids, our games can be kept away from them. There are lock boxes. We can't even blame it on our kids playing the game at another kids home, because we should know who their friends are, and let their parents know what we do and don't accept for them.
Oh yeah im sure Hitler became who he was by sitting there playing DOOM all day. The people who say this shit have probably never played a video game in their lives. The world was a lot more violent before video games were around.

Blaming video games for causing violent behavior in kids is just a method of shifting attention away from the parents and other real word influences. The two students at Columbine pushed over the edge because bullying.
To me violonce in video game are ok only if handaled in a responsable way. Games like Call of duty or medal of honour only show us wot the soliders had to go threw in WW2.

first of all in most 1st peson games u save the world form aliens or wutever...so thts got some moral i guess...and if u dont wunt ur kid playing those games DONT LET THEM!!!
1. If a person gets the suggestion to kill from a video game, he's screwed up already.
2. There were serious psychological factors with the Columbine killers that anti-gamers fail to consider. For instance, Eric Harris was a textbook psychopath while Dylan Klebold was a neurotic depressive; the playing of violent games was symptomatic of the problems at best. Blaming games is ignorant as it deals with a symptom of the problem while ignoring the underlying cause, which is unique to every person.
how the hell can you learn how to kill someone by playing Doom 2? I mean you can't even aim upwards or downwards in it, I don't think that if someone is standing on a balcony irl and you are standing on the street, when you shoot straight forward, that you'll hit that person.
And IF these guys DID learn it from Doom 2, they were mentally insane to begin with because how can you not tell the difference between Doom's demons/zombies and Real Life humans?
A few years ago, two parents went out for dinner. A few hours later, the babysitter was calling to ask if she could cover up the clown statue in the kids' room, the father said,"Take the kids and get out of the house. We'll call the police, we don't have a clown statue." The "clown statue" is really a killer that escaped from jail. If you don't post this letter on to 10 videos tonight, the clown will be in your bed at 3:00 am with a chainsaw in his hand(SORRY BOUT SPAM THIS REALLY FREAKS ME
It is interesting that we never cease to blame what is relatively new. We can always continue to develop more cutting edge technology and entertainment, but when can we develop our minds to be more open?
u got that right, in the 50's they blamed music, blues, same in the 60's untill today (some cases) they still blame rock music, and the movies, and now videogames, and i mean, u can clearly see what kind of people complaining, people who dont have a god damn clue of what the fuck they'r talking about, and it makes me sick that predjudice towards free-speach and expresion still exist
Do video games cause violence in the real world? Short answer, no. Long answer No, and piss off you fearmongering dirtbags.
I don't believe that video games have a big effect on people, however, I believe that people who will commit violence and crimes have a tendency to play video games.
its funny how they attack the wrong games... i mean doom and quake these people must have been incredibly dillusional if they thought that would help...OMG ALIENS!!!
i love anti video game violence peaple trying to stop violent video games. besides, we all know thay have very little affect on the growth of the games
..-_-;. video games dont make killers, bad parental supervision does. Ive played violent video games all my life and i'm one of the most passive people in America. like, i don't even like to hold real guns. scare the crap out of me. i may be a wuss, but it goes to prove that violent games don't make violent people.
Perhaps violent people just play violent video games? By the way playing Halo or a light gun game is nothing like using a real gun. I've used one and no I didn't shoot anyone.
wtf is the deal with this shit video games are fine and 2 manic depressive psychos a year doesnt match up to our real problems like death on the road or drugs/alchohol.
these games are hardly killing simulators or trainers, they dont show how to operate the weapons, how it feels to shoot a weapon, or even the basic functions of a weapon like how to clear a jam, reload etc (or if they do its innacurate) most dont even correctly show the proper use of iron sights
the only game were one could agrue that it could teach people to use weapons is americas army, but wait, isnt that made my the US military?
what the FUCK!!!! i havent jacked a car lik san anreas, i haventkilled somebody by ripping there skull out lik in predator concrete junle, i haventkilled a zombie. this is a load of bullshit. there just using games as an excuse
Gaming can help you with hand/eye coordination, but they don't cause you to be a killer. I love the GTA series and I will get GTA IV when it comes out. It doesn't make me want to kill anyone. Critics just want to assign blame on something. In the words of Chris Rock "What the fuck was in Hitler's CD case?"
ah ah, I love Doom but the only people I feel like killing are mutants. Video games are not to blame but the NRA and proliferation of guns are. People who claims video games influence mass killers are fucking morons!!!
How the hell can they say that playing a game makes you a good shooter?? its retarded. Do you aim with the controller? do you hold the controler like a gun? do you reload the controler? hell no. People who are influenced by those arguments are fucking idiots
why dont they blame society like the jocky nutsacks that bully'd and tore these kids apart?! but no instead lets feel bad for them lets cry over the ones who lost thier lifes to 2 kids they bully'd and pushed around! lets blame the Entertainment Industry! who hav nothing to do with these kids motives for shooting up a high school! they diddnt make a game called lets go shoot calumbine! guess blaming entertainment givs them sumthing to bitch about

It is interesting that we never cease to blame what is relatively new. We can always continue to develop more cutting edge technology and entertainment, but when can we develop our minds to be more open?
ccricers 4 years ago
u got that right, in the 50's they blamed music, blues, same in the 60's untill today (some cases) they still blame rock music, and the movies, and now videogames, and i mean, u can clearly see what kind of people complaining, people who dont have a god damn clue of what the fuck they'r talking about, and it makes me sick that predjudice towards free-speach and expresion still exist

Do video games cause violence in the real world? Short answer, no. Long answer No, and piss off you fearmongering dirtbags.
I don't believe that video games have a big effect on people, however, I believe that people who will commit violence and crimes have a tendency to play video games.

It has nothing to do with the video games...Its the stupidity and personality of the person who committed the fucking crime!

Because either you are well mentally adjusted or you don't have any guns...

..-_-;. video games dont make killers, bad parental supervision does. Ive played violent video games all my life and i'm one of the most passive people in America. like, i don't even like to hold real guns. scare the crap out of me. i may be a wuss, but it goes to prove that violent games don't make violent people.
poulet7 4 years ago 5
Perhaps violent people just play violent video games? By the way playing Halo or a light gun game is nothing like using a real gun. I've used one and no I didn't shoot anyone.
Shaun1018 4 years ago
Seriously....the people that enact these acts are either....REALLY STUPID!!OR mentally disturbed.....

All of these games have ratings. It's not the games fault, it's the idiot parent's fault. I hate when people go against video games like this.
viper2116 4 years ago 2
these games are hardly killing simulators or trainers, they dont show how to operate the weapons, how it feels to shoot a weapon, or even the basic functions of a weapon like how to clear a jam, reload etc (or if they do its innacurate) most dont even correctly show the proper use of iron sights
the only game were one could agrue that it could teach people to use weapons is americas army, but wait, isnt that made my the US military?

Gaming can help you with hand/eye coordination, but they don't cause you to be a killer. I love the GTA series and I will get GTA IV when it comes out. It doesn't make me want to kill anyone. Critics just want to assign blame on something. In the words of Chris Rock "What the fuck was in Hitler's CD case?"
challenger172005 4 years ago
ah ah, I love Doom but the only people I feel like killing are mutants. Video games are not to blame but the NRA and proliferation of guns are. People who claims video games influence mass killers are fucking morons!!!
rodolphefleury 4 years ago 2
How the hell can they say that playing a game makes you a good shooter?? its retarded. Do you aim with the controller? do you hold the controler like a gun? do you reload the controler? hell no. People who are influenced by those arguments are fucking idiots
mexa11 5 years ago
well except for wii games like red steel
metamano 4 years ago
well no cuz you only hold a controler not a gun
mexa11 4 years ago
That's hardly a gun simulation.

Politicians who believe this shit = n00bs. Gaming doesn't give the PHYSICAL training needed to turn a kid into a soldier.
DavidBIGdArruda 5 years ago
why dont they blame society like the jocky nutsacks that bully'd and tore these kids apart?! but no instead lets feel bad for them lets cry over the ones who lost thier lifes to 2 kids they bully'd and pushed around! lets blame the Entertainment Industry! who hav nothing to do with these kids motives for shooting up a high school! they diddnt make a game called lets go shoot calumbine! guess blaming entertainment givs them sumthing to bitch about
