I think the beauty of the US is that Conservatives and Liberals are all saying and doing the things they say and do because they're all patriotic and they want the better for the country.

Theres a difference between patriotism and nationalism. Patriotism isnt blindly supporting your country just because you belong to it. Patriotism is making sure the ideals and values you hold dear are not attacked by any enemy. And those enemies include the war-mongering hateful people that are found in the American government in varying degrees during every presidency.
