ok a chameleons song i didnt know and a good one at that. Thanks for posting this. wow there is SO much more chameleons stuff on youtube now than there was like 3 or 4 years ago. It makes sense but man back then it was limited. SPREAD THE WORD AND THE MUSIC! Let's make up now for what never happened then for this amazing band, meaning worldwide success!
@Novacoma It could never happen although it's a nice thought. The masses tend to like the utter crap they like. Same reason a band like the Church isn't huge.
These guys were like nothing else on the radio at the time. Even in today's alternative, it's hard to find something quite like The Chameleons. I think they're still ahead of their time.
It sounds like he's saying "Denims and Curves" :) I love a curvy woman in denims... I hope to catch Mark burges in cali next month. he's playing in LA (I believe) and in San Francisco on the 28th. be there if you're from the bay. I hope to see him even though it will be on a tuesday I believe. :|
I love some of their other songs a little bit better but this song is great. It's kind of the song you listen to at the beach. Great beach to secretly get drunk and lay around and is kind of cold is "Stinson beach" about 35 miles north of San Francisco. If you're a tourist it's hard to find. You have to bypass 101 and get over to H-1 via Mt tam. It's a nice place though. Often no one will be there. Warning, don't walk south and over the wall. Old nakied fat nudest beach >.<
this is a rare song.. hard to find on youtube. Thanks for posting it. 2 years and I just came across it :/ Damn lol. I also love the original "I love you, you bastards". But wasnt this song a Sun and Moon song, not Chameleons UK?
Like most folks posting here, I absolutely love this song....and pretty much love everything the Chams U.K. put out. However, I may differ w/ folks in the sense that, I am kinda glad that they didn't reach the same height's that groups like U2 have. Not that they wouldn't deserve it, not that they wouldn't have enjoyed that success. I'm sure they would. But if they had been that popular, would they have maintained the same musical sensibilities? Maybe they would have sold out. I doubt it though.
@dixonite No, because their core philosophy is that they would never dilute their music for ANYONE. That's why their first major deal didn't work out - they wouldn't bow to CBS' label pressure. Their ascension to artistic perfection runs parallel to Talk Talk (after 2 albums, specifically), my other most favorite band in existence.
I love when you thought you've listened to everything by a group, like David Bowie, and you "know" you've heard it all and listened to it almost to exhaustion, and then you find "Holy, Holy" 7" and start it all over again. Chameleons in a different world would have been what U2 is, but better... obviously.
There seems to be a rebirth in rediscovery in the Chams UK. My children who are now 11 and 13 love them. My youngest loves this song and she loves the band "Joy Division"'s song digital. She started printing up photos of bands she likes. Such as Joy Division and a completely different genre, Earth Wind and Fire. She loves the song September by them. I asked them why they don't listen to new music. They like new stuff but love this stuff more.
What a truly amazingly great and under appreciated band. I can't explain why but this song never fails to make me really emotional. Beautiful beautiful song. Cheers from California
i got this way back in the 90s on glass pyramid lable and on vinyle for 20 us dolars what a great ep what a great band post the rest if u can and sally also check out black swan lane and invencible and all the other mark burgess projects

yeah.. this and "is it any wonder" are 2 of my favorites... a 4th album could have been quite special

Sad really...with songs of the quality of those on Tony Fletcher, one can only imagine as to how fantastic their 4th album could have been.

@sugarandspice4815 They're very ahead of their time. A song like this is completely timeless save for the technology.

I have a lot of MB's other stuff, including The Sun and the Moon and Zima Junction, but sadly not the Tony Fletcher EP ...
