@lmorgan1974 Thanks, yeah, I arranged that one when I was in my TE inspired days. Most of my latest stuff is Naudo inspired, although, I think I may have found my own particular sound, after all these years ;)
Yep - Aussies should be able to play an Aussie song on an Aussie guitar...hence the reason why I arranged this one (and "Choir Girl", and a few more I plan on doing in the future.)
Hey Bro! I think this came together as an arrangement exceptionally well - it's sad only us Aussies and Kiwis can appreciate it. The world doesn't know what they were missing out with Aussie Crawl. Thanks from Western Australia :)
Thanks HMQ! This will always be one of my favourite songs to play, because it is uniquely Aussie, all Aussies know it, but the rest of the world has never heard it! ~~~~JAW
Not quite sure what went on around a minute in, the whole hard pluck style thing (not a player, just an appreciator) seemed to be .. out of synch with the entire feel of the piece, but otherwise a fucking great rendition of a fucking great song.
Yeah at about the minute mark I dropped a beat, stuffed it, heh, only human. However the double hard pluck in the second verse is to try and imitate the acoustic guitar in the original recording which hits those notes on those beats - I thought it was okay; additionally it mixes things up, might sound a bit repetitive otherwise. Thanks for the comment! :)
that was the coolest acoustic ive ever seen, wow nice job man, i dont really like classical but that was a kickass song, im more into GNR like stuff but wow man, i might learn this song
gday dude, do you rekon you could record this again but the chord structure of your fingers, i cant figure out the low bit of the bass line..good fuckin job
Congratulations for this remarkable interpretation. I am as amateur as possible playing guitar, and this video inspired me to study classic guitar. I have to play like this, it is wonderful.
Would you do this with another Aussie Crawl songs?
Thanks Luke - yep, I'm am pretty pleased with the way this turned out. I'd say the style is fingerpicker rather than classical, but since I have a classical background the style I applied kinda fits somewhere between them both.
I've never thought about doing any other Aussie Crawl songs; this one had the best feel for an instrumental acoustic out of their hit collection. Even Reyney does a sung acoustic version of it ;)
Jaw, Thank you for your reply. It is always nice to listening to this song, you did a great work. I will manage to arrange time to learn and practice your lesson.
James Reyne allso has many new songs from his solo carrier that would be nice doing the same fingerpicking, for example "I Don't Get Out Much Anymore" James also made acoustic versions of "Errol", "Hammerhead!", "Downhearted" which are very great songs.
Ha! Thanks! Unfortunately music doesn't pay as well as engineering. You know the old joke - What is the difference between a musician and a pizza? A pizza can feed a family of four.
Nice Jason, that drop D works nice giving the song a deep bass sound, good camarawork(is your wife doing that?) guitar sounds good, very enjoyable to listen to,greetings Victor.
Yeah Vic the dropped D gets a good sound on the Maton. Camerawork - nah, I cheated, it is me playing the same song 3 times from 3 different angles and a bit of software trickery :)
Yeah, i had a peek on your website since posting this and checked out the rest of your guitar arsenal! I look forward to watching your other clips soon! Dyso
I really like the arrangement...however I am going to be that dickhead and have one little whinge!...I was listening to the song and reading the tabs you wrote and there is another 7thfret 1st string note played at the end which wasn't tabbed!loved it mate
Thanks! I'd like to play it smoother and with more feeling before I put out an mp3, but I probably won't get around to it, so I've put it out anyway. You can find the mp3 in the same place as the tabs (click on more up the top).
i envy u..u r such a great guitar player, i like your vid. of canon in d more tho, but this was also good...i started learning how to play canon from your tabs thx to u
I'm really diggin' this man. I love what you did with the staccato chords over the melody. The only thing buggin me is that out of tune low E string, but you probably knew that.
I love the recorded tone you got here too. Keep up the awesome work.
Thanks, yeah, I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out. 6th string is tuned to D in fact, which has benefits and problems. One of which is if I play a fretted note and I even slightly bend the string, just from normal fingering, you notice it. Not to mention the tension of a 6th string as a D is pushing the friendship with the guitar.
I tuned it in on the electronic tuner before I started, really ;)
Good arrangement! Wasn't familiar with the original tune, but I found it here in the Related links. Well done, and A+ for video production values :) Tom
Very Tommy Emmanuel. (You cover good songs though)
