Héhe..."the mama's ..indeed ,they don't like this and that and all" ...and just because we are men, so it seems. Won't make me change who I am.
Just getting some distance ...to be ready till the next viperspit and snakebite comes in...HUH!
Some are good ,some are bad...and as with instable chemical mixtures..."the weather changes real fast and for nothing a reasonable man can have to be the beast of the guilts burden huh! ". We still have good fucking beers to get over that shit.
@Dynamitrios i think some one in the band is confirming JJ's own text by saying just "yeah" and then they all start playing at the same time so thats what mama don't like:-)
There is a brilliant version of this song by Francis Cabrel called "Madame n'aime pas" which is more of an adaptation than a cover. Rhythm and subject are the same, but the melody is different. Really worth checking out. You'll find both studio and live versions of it on here. (And before anyone says they don't like the fact that it's in French, "Je m'en foue!")
Listening to this is the best thing a man can do with pants on... Hey wait, you can listen to this without pants on, too! Listening to this got to be the best thing a man can do...
@johnmckinlay67 I agree 100%,J J has influenced so many musicians, not just Clapton, but none of them get anywhere near the masters original. This track must be one of the finest examples of his unique picking (thumb style actually) Another great track is Call Me The Breeze.Timeless, influential stuff.
sometimes its hard to put your finger on why jj cale is so good but this song makes it easy. blues in b minor, such original guitar soloing on a simple twelve bar riff

Eat your heart out Mr. Knopfler. THIS is the guy you've been trying to imitate for all these years. The ONE and ONLY Mr. J.J. Cale.

I think you are right on with the simplicity thing. That's vintage JJ and also why Eric Clapton latched on to JJ's songs.
