It is a big MYTH that women are more aggressive, emotional and bitchy during their periods. Well, they might be, but they just use it as an excuse to whine about something they don't like. In fact, the only reason for them to be different from how they usually are is pain. Yeah, sometimes they feel terrible, because their stomach hurts like hell, but those times they are quiet and miserable and just want to be left alone.
@koektoful Myth? A lot of women have hormones going crazy when it's their period. When that happens you really have no control of your feelings. I once started weeping because the remote control was far away.. ^^
yes, I am. All girls behave normally until somebody tells them how "PMS affects them and they become more emotional ot agressive and all those hormones blablabla" and they they start believing in it or/and using it as an excuse for pouring out negative emotions that we all often have inside. i remeber being smth like 13: we went on school trips or hiking together, and everybody was fine, apart from the pain sometimes. although back then it was more painful.
@TeeCrazee oh my god you have no idea how many times ive wanted to do this to any guy that assumes that when im pissed off its just cause im on my period.
periods blow! I HATE THEM! i fucking hate them. he is right. i'm on my period right now and iv got chocolate all over my face so my tear tracks are running weird paths down my cheeks.
I'll admit it, sometimes I find myself crying and thinking, "Why am I crying like this? I never cry?" Then I remember I'm on my period :/ But I never get angry, just all weepy lol
@penisfuckeye I shout at my bf for no real reason (usually something about not understanding) then I go and curl up in bed out of pain for two days. Then I come out and sob and apologise very very weepily. It used to scare him but now he's sort of used to it
It's a part of life. Women have to deal with it, and men have to deal with women dealing with it. This particularly sucks because it's difficult for women to deal with it in an altered mental state, and it's difficult for men to deal with it because we are, ehm, idiots.
Oh my goodness, I cannot believe the amount of arguing going on here over periods. Geez people, women and men are mentally, physically and emotionally different. Get over it.
It's not that things aren't really happening. It's just that when you're hormonal it makes everything much harder to deal with...sensibly. Sometimes it takes a long time to learn to look out for it and be extra careful to stay in control when you are on.
I'm all for saying that a lot of my feelings are based on my period, but it's not like a) they're not based on something genuine or b) I always realise that's why I'm reacting so badly.
(contd.) ...and we shouldn't have to act like complete c~#ts just to get ourselves a partner of the female persuasion as opposed to getting used as an ego boost or a one night performing monkey lol. Bottom line I guess is the only women worth dating are the rare few who REALLY get this. You can't be treating people with less respect than you would like to receive yourself and use your gender as an excuse (and yes that goes for men & women alike). OK, rant over lol
(contd. ran out of space sorry) ...there's usually someone in the world going thru worse! As for "Some men really are just too aggressive and bitter about not being able to get laid without the aid of Rohypnol". This person & anyone who agrees with this statement should try living as a man these days for let's say 10 years...Maybe then you'll understand how (even for a handsome guy) incredibly hard it is to get anything more than a F#k out of women. Men have feelings too....
@johnjnukemsheridan And without sounding like I'm trying to be the anti-stereotypical woman, I get that this is painful. I do believe that men are direct and prefer things to be simple in nature, but that they also will look at the bigger picture, and not superficial details that women can get caught up with, so they can take things more seriously and understand things better when they choose to.
@elginxxxman Well said! I think it's hardwired into us...after all if we aren't looking at the bigger picture some of our hunting party will potentially die and our families could starve lol! ;)
The thing with this issue kinda saddens me looking at this page is how people just don't get the weight of what it is to do without or put up with pain. A few days ill in a row once per month has a huge deal made about it. My niece has it worse than that since she hit puberty. And I know from personal experience what it's like to be in agonizing pain, feeling like absolute hammered shit for months and years at a time. Bottom line: Lotta women need to quit whining and count their blessings...
@johnjnukemsheridan Yeah, I have an illness where mine last for around 9-13 days and I go through about one overnight pad an hour, usually ending in a trip to the hospital. I have terrible pain and need medication prescribed by doctors, and if I'm going to be bitchy it's because someone's done something to piss me off, just like any other day. I would never take it out on anyone, I'd feel self-conscious of behaviour. I'm not the center of the world and neither are my defective ovaries.
@elginxxxman I'll acknowledge that men are often taken for granted, at least by the women that I know, and I'm by no-means an anti-feminist - which I'm often accused of being, and that's so immature it just validates my opinion that women fail to really, really think about things sometimes. Love is all about appreciation and respect of one another, and I can see how finding a partner can sometimes be difficult, Okay, my rant's done too.
@elginxxxman Yeah, I'm like that RE if getting pissed off. Wouldn't ever want to seem unfair! You make some great points! Sorry, I only just saw your other message and yt didn't tell me about it...Is it just me that's suspecting youtube of having the same people run it as facebook these days lol?! It just doesn't seem to work well anymore!! Anyway, I wish you all the best. I really hope things get better for you :)
@johnjnukemsheridan Thanks, that was so sweet! And I highly suspect Facebook employees of using illegal drugs while on the job (somebody's gotta stay up and man the walls, eh?). Lucky days to you, too :)
the best thing about periods is that when women live together, their monthly cycles align with each other.... so in student houses with a bunch of girls they all simultaneously have a SUPER MELTDOWN BITCHY UBER GODZILLA ANGRY CANNON week. which is pretty much the funniest thing in existence. seven or more girls all completely ANGRY ARGGHH for no reason whatsoever. absolute gold.
Well, when you are experiencing rational emotions based on real issues, and you are trying to discuss in an apropriate manner, it is truly hurtful and goddamn annoying to hear boys argue that it's probably just your body making your head all crazy in a way that doesn't concern them at all.
@Nomorebiscuits Suddenly crying because the store stopped carrying that chocolate bar you like is not rational nor a real issue. And then going in the opposite direction into crazy stabby stab bitch upon the suggestion of finding another store is not an appropriate manner.
@couchfort Wow, you must know some really annoying women. Some girls just lack the ability to argue reasonably, or stay on the subject. Some even lower themselves to petty name-calling or passive-aggressive insults. Sorry, I guess being irrationally aggressive and taking it out on others is just what girls do. Pity.
@Nomorebiscuits Wow, I'm really sorry about some of the faily replies you're getting. Some men really are just too aggressive and bitter about not being able to get laid without the aid of Rohypnol. High kick them on the thorax!
@Fuckenbird *facepalm* Listen honey, I can tell you are a sophisticated and contributing member of society with a name such as "Fuckenbird", but if you keep up that attitude the closest thing you will ever come to a sentient girlfriend is a Japanese body pillow. To answer your question; No. Neither was I when I wrote the comment, NINE months ago.
@Nomorebiscuits Sorry, rational emotions? How do those work? Emotions are always quite random, and you can't help feeling them, we all know this and blabidibla, but to claim that hormones do not affect the way you think is ludicrous, considering the heaps of scientific data proving that both men and women generally decide and feel things based on absolutely nothing. The reason one solution or whatever is better than the other is rationalisation, which is difficult when you're in pain.
@jursle I don't think she said her emotions weren't affected by hormones.
She raised the very true point that a woman cannot debate, argue or be emotional without people saying she's on her period. This was highlighted beautifully by a sudden swarm of ridiculous male comments about PMS etc.
I'm not picking fights, nor am I pre-menstrual, and I'm certainly not over-emotional. I just wanted to clarify with everyone so we can get back to what's important; the genious that is Dylan Moran. :) x
@sophilianate I happen to think it's infuriating when people tell me exactly why I feel what I feel and do what I do, and I'm male. I'm kind of scared to think what could've happened were I female.
PMS is so over-exaggerated
