You look at Bo's offence, especially with the likes of Harbaugh, Leach and Steve Smith at QB, it looks a lot more like Rich Rod's spread than Lloyd and Moeller's pro-style.
This was a talented UW team. They were expected to do well after 7-4-1 record in 1984 (Al Toon). Badgers had 4 consecutive winning seasons 1981-1984. This was Dave McClain's last year as HC (died following April). He was a good friend of Bo's from their days together at Miami (OH).
UW had an experienced team with QB Mike Howard, TB Larry Emery, FB Dave Armentrout and SE Thad McFadden. On defense, UW had DB Nate Odoms (Bills). Badgers were injury plagued and finished 5-6.
You are thinking of the '84 team that went 6-6; this was the '85 team that went 10-1-1 and beat Nebraska in the Fiesta Bowl to finish #2 in the AP poll.
this was the first game after we lost 3 starting linemen off our offense. we were sloppy and penalty prone all day....and we gave up a td! only gave up 2 or 3 in the first 10 games...didnt give up a 7 pointer until week 10 in minny...haha what a great team. unbeatable when healthy.
oh yes, we went to lansing and won 31-0 while gaining only 200 yds in the game...played another sloppy game vs IU...made only 8 first downs in iowa city...3-3 tie vs illinois...then got a couple guys back and killed a good purdue team 47-0...amazing how that defense never folded...and harbaugh could take a lickin, no quit in that man.

Man, if Foricer reminds me of Harbaugh. Calm cool, and collected. If he can do that I have faith we will win a good amount of games this year

Yeah, I was reading the stats on this game and we had 106 yards in penalties. Ouch. Good thing it didn't make a difference.

did we still have those injury problems when we played Iowa a few weeks later?
