RVD screwed up his chance to be a main eventer by getting caught for drugs, Sabu is just a hardcore wrestler who botches regularly, Sandman just gets drunk, Tazz was awesome but didn't last long in the WWE as a regular wrestler. Samoa Joe has managed to get three 5 star matches, something which your RVD and SABU can't even remotely approach without having to resort to hardcore wrestling.

by this time it felt so redundant and god awful I couldn't even sit through the rest of the promo, and the 1 or 2 times i did, I felt I had to wake up a little when the music hit.

Two WWE fuck ups in this match but not in the way you're probably thinking.

Had Eugene only had a better gimmick other than a literal mentally challenged person he may have lasted longer than he did in the spotlight.

Of course we all know how bad Vince dropped the ball on Colt. Still one of the most charismatic and talented wrestlers in the indies today and arguably the best personality. I believe he would have definitely been a star today if they started his push around the time of this match
