  • you did pretty good babygirl i just didnt get that breaking that crab up so much did you do that just to make room in the pot or what because im sure all of the meat got out, of the main body of it , other than that just try adding the onions first by themselves and cook down then the rest of the trinity will give you a greater flavor in your rouax and the rest of the gumbo but everybody has their on twist on gumbo and like you say you can add what you like but hit me back on that CRAB slaughter

  • @deepsleep41 - when I first learned to make gumbo I was taught to break the crab up so that everyone could enjoy a piece (and the patient ones would find "crab gold" on the bottom of the pot). I will try your onion technique this weekend:)

  • When you rinse the crab completely clean as you do, your also washing away much of the flavor.

  • Wow!!! Stephine, you are such a pro on the screen. You would've crushed the Food Network Star challenge. You are really are good women.

Question...how do you dry the shrimp?

  • @HomeBuyersofOhio - Thanks for he kudos. Dry the shrimp by using paper towels or a tea towel.

  • @HomeBuyersofOhio - such a late reply I know...but I dry the shrimp using paper towels or a tea towel.

  • Beautiful work. People usually have tendency to overload-work, complicate Gumbo. That was done in perfect harmony. Well done!

  • looks great...

  • Wow. A beautiful dish prepared by a beautiful woman. Is there anything else you want in life? I think not. Thanks a million for posting.

  • Superb recipe.

Have yet to make gumbo, but your video has me in the mood!

  • I make mine almost exactly the same way. Dont care for the mussells and carrots, but other than that, its pretty close. I add crushed tomatoes and okra to mine.

  • Very knowledgeable! One of the best recipes for Seafood Gumbo I've seen.

  • Thanks so much!

  • Seriously....you need to be on the Food Network! :0) Not only do you have a very engaging personality, but I have tried a couple of your recipes - VERY GOOD! :0)

  • Thanks so much for the kind words. Your feedback keeps me motivated!!

    ~ Stephanie

  • Looks delicious....definitely going into my favorites

  • That looked really good
