supposedly, ALL true labradoodles are 'hypo-allergenic'. however, hypo-allergenic does not mean they won't shed. some labradoodles (ones with more lab-type coats) DO shed, and some labradoodles don't shed. both the shedding and the likelihood that the dog would cause allergies decrease as more poodle is bred into the mix in successive generations (i.e. if you breed a labradoodle with a poodle - the resulting dogs will be 75% poodle and 25% lab, lessening the likelihood of shedding, etc).

Schnitzel rocks! Labradoodles were not bred as hunting dogs. They were bred to be service dogs. If you have a labradoodle that is agressive toward other dogs or small animals than you might have gone to a less than reputable breeder..or you don't train them well.

Aww soo cute! Schnitzel looks jus like one of my labraddodles named max except max is black. Max has little spikes on the top of his head too and is such a character! We have 2 labradoodles. They r both black and one is curly which is duffy and the other has straight hair wch is max. they will be 1 on June 6th. Labradoodles are truely amazing we luv them sooo much!

Umm, this is just nuts, hehe. I guess I'm doing something wrong with this, but the point that I was TRYING to say is that people who want a labradoodle because they can't get a regular dog should consider taking a poodle instead because it's basically the same thing, except that labradoodles are new and have no such history that poodles have, which in short means that poodles are more healthier because we are aware of the desieces that they have. Please feel free to inform me better if I'm wrong

I just wanted to ask one question about this breed after seeing the "Design dogs" (or something like that) program... If the main purpose was to create an allergy-symptom free dog by mixing a poodle with some other regular-coated breed, why not just settle with the poodle ? It's not that the labradoodle or any other -doodle or -poo just create some new coat mixture, is it ? It just inherits the coat that poodles have, so basically

I accidently posted that one too early, sorry about that. :) But yeah, so it basically means that people who have to get a labradoodle because they can't have any other breeds because of their allergy could in fact get a regular poodle as well. And they even come in various sizes, so claiming that "a standard poodle is just too big" doesn't sound right to me. to reply to hatesasuke, i agree that there is a very large amount of poodle and lab mixes out there, however if you know much about this breed you would realize it was created not to long ago to serve a purpose ;) they were created to be guide dogs for those with allergies to dog fur, in my mind i believe that to be a worthy cause of creating a new breed, no???

Im 13 and my family and i have a wheetin terrier poodle whos 10 named micky, and we also have 2 black labradoodles that are 7 months. we got them when they were 2 onths and i cant believe how much theyve grown. they now weigh 62 punds. andis about 97% labradoor and he has the straight hair, and hes max, and the 98% poodle whos duffy. urs is ahhhhdorable!!! have fun with him b4 he gets to be to big to even pick up like our lol :)
