  • the 2 dislikes are Olive's real parents.

  • Does anyone know where she/he got the picture from?? cause i know 13 is the guy from balls of fury!' please tell me!!!!!

  • @griffith124 that was the original broadway cast

  • We just ended our last show yesterday :( But we had two Olives and I got to sing the I love you song, with olives mom and dad who are amazing singers (:

  • I'm playing Olive's mom right now (we split up the double casting), opening night was tonight. I am so glad I get to sing this song <3 <3

  • The story is that Olives mom is actually in the crazy house (asylum) and that her dad is mentally abusive so then olive sings this song about how her family is well fucked up really I know this cause in my school play im playing the dead beat dad yeah for me :/

  • @nintendowalk ok sorry this is so not the story olive's dad is never even seen in the show. awk

  • I love this song. Just watched my College's performance and it was amazing. The play was much better then i thought.

  • Im playing Olive in my schools show of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee...

    god help me with 3:44 - 3:48

  • @TeenTipsnTutorials On the very top note, if you can't nail it like that, you could sing it in a very quiet falsetto. Sing everything else in the forte, but the very last syllable (the high note), make it "drop off," so to speak. It actually works in that it adds dynamic contrast and emotion and all that other cool stuff and stuff. Work it sista

  • @DownforceInc haa thanks ;)

yah i've got the vocal instructor helping me. Im not gonna screw up. hahaha

  • @TeenTipsnTutorials Oh you fancy huh. Post a video of the final product and prove it then. Haha, good luck!

  • 15-20 years from now, my husband and i are gonna sing 1:50-2:40 to each other at our wedding =,)

  • Actually, it's

    "Mama, Mama, Mama

    Shanti Shanti and *om*"

Om, the buddhist, Hundu sacred word (cause her mother's in India), and that way it rhymes with "How I wish you were home"

  • 3:44-3:48 = favorite part of the song!

  • Ma, I have, Oh God, this need

I think Dad is angry, Ma

And I do not know what to do

    Mama, Mama, Mama

    Shanti Shanti and all

I think he takes out on me

What he wants to take out on you so sad

  • ok people, so I have a theory. Olives mother and father are in a huge fight, during this song and they admit that they still love each other, but it's all fantasy. I believe that the fight is reality. Earlier in the story it is revealed that Olives mom went to India for 9 months, so I think she cheated on the father and went there to have the baby! That's why they are fighting and that's the basis of this song!! BOOM!!

  • I relate to this character a lot, and I saw the show for the first time at the international thespian festival in Lincoln. I never cry in public. This was the first time I teared up around other people. After the show, I kept asking people what their fav song from the show was, and they said some funny one or something. When I told them that this was my favorite song, they were surprised. This will always be one of my fav. showtunes. Along with A home for you from Batboy :)

  • Thank you for posting this song. It is like heaven. The harmonies give me chills and I feel like I can express myself through listening to it.

  • First of all thank you for posting this song. Secondly, I actually had to pull over the car I was crying so hard. It just brought up some weird stuff as a parent.

  • it made me cry when i watched it..

  • whos the character who sings the part "mama mama mama"

  • @sarahanneha olive

  • @sarahanneha Olive Ostrovsky

  • @sarahanneha Olive Ostrovsky and her mother is traditionally played by the character of Rona Peretti and her father is usually played by Mitch Mahoney

  • when i heard this song i wanted 2 cry the sencond time i heard this song i was with 1 of my good friend whos mom had just passed he started to tear up and all i could do was hold him

  • The first time I heard this song I was at the Flordia Thesoain festival (my first time in case your wondering) and the Pitnam County Spelling Bee was our first mainstage we got to see...I almost cryed when I heard it cause it was erry who well I realted. At that moment I was glad I was an actress so none of my fellow troupe members noticed.

  • Can this person seriously not spell Putnam?

  • Makes me wish I played Mitch Mahoney, not Chip XD too bad I'm not black enough

  • the mama mama mama's are so incredibley powerful. this song is so well written and conveys so much emotion, in the music alone.

  • This is my favorite song in the entire show. I just played Olive in a production, and there were some nights where I got so into the song that I almost started to get a bit teary. The harmonies are amazing, and this song is so important to Olive's character. It was a really pleasure to sing every night =).

  • this song will forever be my favorite song of the show. it is hands down the most heartfelt song of the whole show. and lets just face it... the harmonies in this song are killer

  • Loved this. Best song! I was on the verge of tears watching thissss So glad I am not the only onee...

  • I saw this show for the 3rd time tonight. I love this song. It'a a great show, but for me this is the highlight. It's so beautiful, but the kind of beauty that makes you sad. Because this is the kind of tragically messed up ***t kids have to deal with. Set to eerie music.

  • i was on the bus this morning and really tired and this came on my ipod and when it hit the climax i started tearing up it cot bad

  • @dramababy333 Congrats! You should post vids when you start working on the show, I really love the rehersal process!

  • fort dorchester?

  • no...

    san jose rep....

  • HaHaHa! That's so cool! Juicebox!

  • ahahahhaha~~

    yea...

    you should go see it!

  • This song made me cry, it balances the show so perfectly. Its just a perfect fit

  • everytime i hear it i start to bawl :'(

  • When Olive says "I know we agreed" what is she referring to?

Such a brilliant and powerful song. Just beautiful.

  • I Think This Is really Nice Song, And I Think If It Wasn't In The Show Then It Would Be TOO Silly, This Kinda Balances Out a Little Bit

  • Could someone please give me an overview of all the characters? This looks like a really interesting funny show...I just don't know much about it.

  • I disagree completely on the interpretation of this song. The word she's asked to spell is defined unreal, imaginary, etc. Which leads me to believe that this song is about what she wishes were reality, and as such, proves quite the opposite.

  • you're right. She Imagines that they are telling her that they love her, because they never said it.

  • actually this song is Olive's vision. because this is all a vision. thats why she says at the end highly unrealistic and wildly fanciful after she spells chimerical. it says in the booklet for the CD Olive has a vision.

  • This song is my life.

  • It's actually 'Shanti Shanti and Om'.

  • Troupe 4276= Lily, Mikhail, and Sarah

U guys sing this amazingly and probably better than this soundtrack!

  • haha

  • Theyre in my Troupe :)

  • Jhudsonrox, I thought she was imagining her parents there!

Her mom is overseas and her dad doesn't approve of her spelling "obsession" so he doesn't come. That's why the word means "unreal, magical, etc." because none of the things she hears/thinks are real!

  • that's what jhudsonrox said. quote: "It's just emotionally connected to all of her feelings."

  • I just did this song for a regional acting competition! I love it!We rocked!DDHS

  • how did you do???

  • i luv this song! they are all amazing singers and the lyrics are so great. in a really sad way

  • I saw this last night I and I loved it. It takes something really beautiful and sad to make me cry..... this did it.

  • It's sad because her mom is away, and she wishes that she could be there for her big moment.

  • i don't get it why is it a sad song?

  • Because the little girls parents don't show up to the spelling bee she's been working so hard at. She almost wasn't allowed to do it since the entrance fee wasn't paid, but when she won second place she was able to play it. Her parents sing this about her during the show when one of her words come up. It's just emotionally connected to all of her feelings.

  • this is such an amazing song. i love it x 10000000. its so sad...but so good! xD simply AH-mazing.

  • Can you post the rest of the songs please? :) I love this musical!

  • I listen to it go to tears and then chear up by listening to pandemonium or Mitch

  • i absolutly LOVE this song!!!!!

  • Wow after reading the comments I don't feel stupid I also get a little teary with this song the harmony is sick and it sends chills all the time

  • Oh i love this song

I reduces me to tears everytime i hear it

    Very relivant to me <3

  • sniff sniff

  • this song is so sad

  • i've come to love this song alot.

it's perfect for my voice and i sing it alotttt lately.

also, makes my voice sound good before performances, so i sing it like 5 times straight and i'mr eady to take on the world!

    haha.

    <3;

  • just fyi theres just one typo in the lyrics

she sings "Shanti Shanti and Om", not on.

sorry i just know this because I've actually seen the movie that comes from. "Om Shanti Om" is an Bollywood movie from India :) Good movie. Really long, but really good and some good music!

  • This song brings back memories of my childhood going to math meets and no parents there with me. It makes tears swell in my eyes. I have fallen in love with the song and it has the same effects on me as the first time.

  • oh sweetie i'm sorry!!!!

  • too late! just pay my therapy bill!!

  • I saw this in new york , it was an amazingggg musical.

  • This song is amazing! This entire show is fantastic, I loved every single moment of it!

  • This song gives me the chills every time. Those harmonies are enough to reduce someone to tears. It takes true talent and determination to pull this off, and if so, people will cry. I assure you. It's one of, if not THE, most beautiful songs I've ever heard.

  • This song is my life. <3333

  • oh sweetie i'm sorry.
