I think that opening song is an overdub ....I've heard it used with other old filmways shows. I think there must be some kind of copywright infringement issue with the music.
This was the pilot episode of the "Beverly Hillbillies" that aired on CBS-TV on September 26,1962. The pilot episode was so successful that the show soared to Number One,three weeks after its debut. The series produced 274 episodes and it ran successfully for the nine seasons that it was on the air. Thanks to Buddy Ebsen and Irene Ryan.
MiscVideos78rpm i would have subscribed to your profile but you have disabled embedding, and i hate that, so no, i won't be subscribing. never. ever. well, not anytime soon.
There was one earlier pilot variant then this one, entitled by the show's working title at the time "The Hillbillies Of Beverly Hills." Also had an extended section of about 10/15 minutes long with Bailey (in character) explaining some of the future adventures (as a sales pitch to the networks).
i never understood why they would replace the original "ballad of jed clampett" with that banjo tune "banjo signal" even in this pilot episode. thank god i have the original version
i doubt it. like i said, i have the original version. and if you listen closely, the sound after the introduction suddenly stops and as banjo signal ends again at 0:37, you can hear the ending of the ballad of jed clampett again
It's because these are "Public Domain" prints, and they never got permission for the original theme, so they replaced it with this 'phony' theme which was never part of the original show....That's why....
Beverly Hillbillies rules!! haha what a great show ... brings back lots of rad memories of childhood, even though it was a couple years before my time - I loved watching it as a young'un
@MiscVideos78rpm just search archive this pilot is public domain. or go to walmart and look in the discount bin. i bought the first season plus this pilot for 2 bucks.
Great show.
I wish TV could have good, clean shows like this again.

The interior of Jed's country house in the hills looks a lot like the one they used in the set of Rod Serling's TWILIGHT ZONE's "The Hunt".

Were you thinking of embedding some of my videos?

Go figure copywrite lawyers....they take away the original music from the opening credits, then leave in the music when they begin the flashback.

Combine "exodus" and "international" and ".org" and see where you get linkwise!

Interesting.
I can't remember where I got my incorrect information but I'm with you in wondering why they did it.

the guy from the company, is that Jethro?
themandolinman95 3 years ago
No, Jethro is Jed's cousin's son. The guy who runs the bank is Mr. Drysdale.
MiscVideos78rpm 3 years ago
Jethro is Jed's nephew.
dicksatan 3 years ago
Really?? Is that why Jethro is always calling Jed "Uncle Jed"? Umm, duuhh. I always wondered about that. Wow thanks, you are so helpful!!
