  • How many times has this video been created with new lines? And how many times has it not been funny?

  • I'm going back to White Wolf.. Good Man

  • QQQQQ

  • Play WoD wait the good ones r out of print too QQ

  • My AD&D books are up there on the list of most precious, right under left and right testicles. QQ now my 3.5 books are under AD&D

  • @LastStand2010 My group is actually starting a Pathfinder game soon.

  • 4.0 is a perfectly valid system. It's more tactical and simpler then 3.5/pathfinder at the same time. It was the first tabletop role playing game our group has done and it's still my favorite (having since played L5R, Conan, 3.5, Mutants and Masterminds, and Pathfinder, which is my second favorite). Just because the rules are solid, and it it's easier to make a good character that fits your own character concept. In Pathfinder, I feel like I suck if I don't make a generic optimized character.

  • haha we went back to white-wolf a few weeks after we bought 4th edition. And boy lemme tell ya we never thought we would go back to that after years of abstinence. Anyway back to d&d we felt like we where playing dragon age/dragon ball in a cheap videogame. The mechanic do influence the roleplay at some point and the 4th rules mechanic just dont suit us at all.

  • Just download the 3.5 books, Hitler! You can find practically whatever you need! Don't give up hope, buddy!

  • I never bought 4E, after a few years of 3/3.5E I was so sick of the clunky slowness of the rules that I bought Castles and Crusades and 'reactivated' all my 1E/2E material. Even during 2E I used the rules in the 1E rulebooks.

  • IS ok hitler, we need more people to play dark ages on vampires the masquarade lol

  • I love this so much i don't even know where to begin! Ten Stars out of five.

  • Check out lilith-ezine com/articles/entertainment/Boycotting-4th-Edition-DnD html

  • Hitler: "What? Magic Missile isn't guaranteed to hit? GODDAMNIT!"

  • you should make: "hittler hates civ5" because you can rule the computer just with diplomacy and workers which block his resourses. after you tech you declare war. civ5 is just shit..........viv la civ4

  • "At least in 3rd edition I could cast a fireball and it would hit a dozen enemies...

Now I have to make 12 attack roles every time I take a turn...and the Fighter just rolls his eyes at me!"

Awesome -- worth the view right there! HAHA

  • 18 people missed the train to Auschwitz.

  • HA FIRST HITLER VIDEO TO SAY DOUCHE BAG AND NOOBS PROPS BRET FAVRE WAS THE BEST

  • PATHFINDER!!!!!!!!!!!

  • To Hitler:

DUDE, CHILL OUT! JUST GET PATHFINDER! I HEAR IT'S A HELLUVA LOT BETTAR THAN FUCKIN' 4TH ED ANYWAY!

  • @ all of the 4e haters

    Get a life!

It isn't like 3.5 is dead, the books are out there - go play 3.5... let the 4e players play their game

Unfortunately whenever a geek (yes im one too) feels wronged he is more inclined to shake his fist at the world than actually embrace change

The entire concept of D&D was broken as a team game. The cleric, bard, rogue and wizard to name a few were broken and seriously unbalanced.

Take a deep breath, collect yourself and grow up!

  • @wlmartin80 Quite true. Heck, my group still plays 2nd edition AD&D and we are at our 8th year of our Mystara campaign. The group (players) has been around since 1995, played 3rd edition and 4th edition. We hated both editions. But it proves what you said: Play the edition you like and all is good.

  • If I had sold all of my 3.5 stuff before trying 4e, then realized I was stuck with it forever?

My reaction would have probably been eerily similar.

  • That's why I switched to White Wolf, Vampire FTW!

  • I was on Obsidian Portal reading an anti-4e thread. Same old QQ'ing that you always see from the anti-4e people. Then, to prove a point, someone actually managed to track down a thread from back when 3e came out. I swear, it was the exact same bullshit. The only thing missing were the WOW comparisons. It made me smile. It was than that I understood, the edition that you're playing, AD&D, 3.x, 4th, it doesn't matter worth a damn. People are just stupid, and they always will be.

  • Hey assholes, newsflash: YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE MINIATURES TO PLAY 4E. You can use a penny or a d12 or anything else you want to represent your character or a monster. Heck, you can even do what some RPGA stores do and use pieces of candy (Reese's peanut butter cups and starbursts usually) to represent monsters.

3rd edition was clunky, unbalanced shit, and all of the people complaining are just pissed that their cleric/wizard isn't an uber adventure-wrecking machine who needs no backup anymore.

  • @dark7element Wow, finally a logical argument! Total thumbs up. BTW, For the people who claim that 4e has no role-playing element, here's a thought. Draw out your own custom dungeon/city/whatever you like moving in, make cosplay mandatory, and make players draw their own characters out along with an accent they MUST play with. Sad how people think it's all "roll this, roll that" with no roleplaying involved. It's all up to the players how much they wanna roleplay, not the edition...

  • i love how the word douchbag in the subtitles lined up with Stalin in his rant

  • Also, rules are guildlines to be true. You need rules for a framework but it is up to you have strict you are with them. Personally, I am leaning more towards more free-form RPGs. I'm tired of having to use a calculator to run combat or check out three charts just to resolve a single action. I'm leaning more to RPGs where resolution is more openended like 1. You fail miserably 2. you fail barely 3. you barely succeed 4. you succeed wonderfully. Really though, our desires change over time.

  • kailashlan, you are correct. My group was discussing doing a hybrid 3.5/4th game recently but it was concluded to be a little too much effort. On another night, it may have went differently. I made this video as a birthday present for a friend who has rabidly opposing 4th edition at the time just to play to his ego but I didn't really agree. That said, I'm not so psycho-nerd that I couldn't have some fun jibing my pasttime.

  • Pathfinder is the keeping rpg alive. To the Nine Hells with 4e!

  • i looked at the race and gods list for 4.0 and was so uderly disgusted that i refused to ever play 4th edition thank god for 3.5 PDF's

  • @EvilTim1234 Amen brother!

  • It's ok Hitler, there's always Warhammer RPG

  • The one thing 4th has going for it is the plethora of starting races and classes, while the power system does suck, and no argueing it does suck, I think if they listen to the fans D&D 4.5 will actually be a good system. That said. Thank god I got Pathfinder and KEPT my 3.5 books.

  • I love that "going back to White Wolf" comment at the end. If der Fuehrer doesn't like 4e that much, hoo boy, is he in for a nasty surprise if he actually liked the OWoD.

  • It's okay, Hitler. There's always Pathfinder.

  • Savage Worlds or GTFO!

Savage Words Core book plus Fantasy Companion is $30. It plays faster, is easier to run, and is about a million times more flexible than D&D.

  • does anybody know what movie this footage was from originally?

  • @newfrickinshow Inglorious Bastards

  • @wlmartin80 No, it's not Inglorious Bastards-- Hitler doesn't have a rant in that movie. This is from "Downfall".

  • @newfrickinshow "Downfall" is the movie the scene is taken from.

  • On topic I will say that I am also outraged by the sudden removal of all pre-4E material from every bookstore I can find, and the ridiculous amount of money needed to participate in 4E games... Another thing that totally pisses me off is the removal of the 2D alignment... I don't understand what purpose it serves to take it out... Can someone enlighten me?

  • @yummyorangefinch

I know it is a bit hit or miss, but I've had decent luck with Half Price Books. Just a suggestion.

  • 11 people aren't oldschool like Hitler

  • 3.5 or gtfo

  • 3rd edition sucks bawlls, get 3.5 :B

  • I have been playing D&D since 1974, 4th edition has some good stuff but not enough for me or anyone in my group to make the monetary commitment to it and I agree with the videos assessment. so we play retro clones or Original edition games.

  • whyd he leave white wolf in the first place? lol no offense i love DnD (introduced at 3.5 so not a huge fan of fourth but ill play it) Maybe tis just cuz im a table top junkie and thats what i do.

  • great! amazing

    ! fantastic!

though D&D guys don't use the term "n00b"

  • I hate being in the game store looking at what few 3 and 3.5 edition books they havwe left that are in the used section and somewon trying to sell me on 4th. I am with Hitler on the Mystara and Ravenloft as well. I loved Ravenloft.

  • What's so crazy about GURPS? I'm really asking. I've never played 4e but would give it a try. I'm familiar with D&D 1 through 3, White Wolf and GURPS, but I guess I don't quite get the GURPS joke because I didn't know it had a reputation. Does it? For what?

  • When 4e came out - all the books at once, or so it seemed - I got mad, just like a lot of other people with prior D&D play experience. Now that my bile has settled, someone in my game group wants to run 4e material (we've been doing 3.5 with loads of house rules). I've looked at the way characters are made and grow, and the power system, and I'm skeptical, but reading it and playing it are very different. I'm eager to get started, because regardless of the system, I like the game.

  • 1: Why would you get rid of your 3E books? That's really shortsighetd Adolf. 3.5 is still my favorite.

2: In defense of 4E, they made the Druid something other than pointless and made the sorcer and wizzard genuinely different classes instead of being funtionally identical as they were in the past. Also, setting up a hack&slash is easier when i don't feel like making a plot.

  • Hitler should try Pathfinder...

  • 4th Ed is to be held responsible for betraying the German Volk and losing the war after all ?? Hitler was sure to make that point very clear ... Why wasnt that in the subtitles ?!

  • I appriciate all the posts. Rather than just a commentary on the quality of the video, it has become a dynamic discussion of D&D in general. I rather like that. I enjoy reading everyone's comments. You guys are making some good points on both sides. Thanks again.

  • Full disclosure: I play 4th edition. There are things about it that I don't like and things about it that I think are actually an improvement. Its really very different and not comparable to earlier editions. Its basically a whole new core mechanic. I made this for a friend that dislikes it more than me. I'm pretty cool about everything either way. Its difficult getting into 4th if you are used to the previous systems but our group is adapting.

  • 2nd edition is the best for the role playing, 3 ed did have a faster play system tho. for me 2nd edition is pure win (minus the art work... 3rd ed+ wins there tbh... )

  • 2nd Edition or 1st Edition is where it's at!!!!!

  • This was pretty funny. Hitler sure knows his gaming, & 4e is the ballz.

  • 2nd edition forever

  • 2nd edition forever.

  • Use protection when your out there, go with a friend, avoid peer pressure.

Remember kids, there is no cure for 4th Edition.

  • 3.5 forever! My friends and I still use 3.5. I have looked through 4.0, I gotta' say, I'm not impressed.

  • @canadianson27 I bought the 4e gift set before I realized it really was WoW in a box. The sole reason I'm keeping it is for miscellaneous house rules and spell ideas, that kind of thing. Glad I didn't pay retail, snagged it on Amazon for about half. Wish I had spent the money on 3.5 splatbooks instead. =/

  • Playing D&D for almost 10 years now but Im having a blast with 4th edition. The RP is still there... you dont NEED RULES to RP just a group with imagination willing to RP.

The combat is tactical, heavy group based with cool combos and the character customization gets deeper and deeper.

I can only understand your frustration I you were a caster in a previous version 'cause the lack of Vancian system really hurts you. But the system was kinda broken... but thats just my opinion.

  • @Elesthor Amen

  • lol

  • What would he say about Synnabar? Raven c.s. McCracken vs. Der Fuhrer-classic!

  • BRAVO! This is the best version of this I have seen.

  • Try Pathfinder. They picked up D20 and ran with it. Folks are calling it 3.75. Overall it's a big improvement over 3.5... though Bards still suck.

  • I think Bards will always suck.

  • @smithwes629 I just bought Pathfinder and to be honest I don't se how it's improved. It's the same ruleset. Whats different about it?

  • lol, Well the main draw for people who don't like 4E would be that it is similar to 3.x. That was the whole point, but the improvements include simpler system for grapple etc.. more diversity for class development, and individual characters, better skills, and great lvl 20 abilities for all basic classes.

I'll player either, but I prefer Pathfinder to 4E. Haven't bothered to buy the 4E books, or learn it enough to DM it. Some folks really hate 4E though, so I mentioned Pathfinder for them.

  • @smithwes629 Bards are made to suck, be annoying (if they're male) or extremely hot (if they're female) and always get in trouble (usually dragging the whole party in the said trouble). In combat, being a bard isn't great, but they're very interesting and useful characters in other aspects of the game.

  • Indeed, Pathfinder is excellent!

  • @smithwes629 Pathfinder to D&D is as Generic Store Bought Cola is to Coca Cola / Pepsi

I was shocked at how poor Pathfinder was and how anyone could justify paying money for it.

If I wanted to play 3.5, id play 3.5... so someone has come up with new content for the 3.5 ruleset, am I that much of a sheep that I need a current content release to keep my loyal?

I know players who STILL play 1st edition, good on em!

I am 4e, I will be until something better comes along as it is 100% the best now

  • I hate 4th edition to XD

  • I have only played 4e so I don't see the problem with it. Can anyone enlighten me as to why it is so bad?

  • Because it is so very different in feel to earlier versions of D&D. So much of the gameplay has changed, its like playing a totally new game but with the name D&D tacked on. There are plenty of alternative fantasy games, like Rolemaster, Runequest, (and DURPS - lol), but 4th ed so dramatically departed from the themes in the 1st-3rd ed game it is like saying the sport 'Cricket' is the same as 'Baseball' just because it involves hitting balls with bats.

  • I see. I suppose I can not really compare seeing as I have never played 3.5 (or anything else for that matter) except through NWN.

  • 3.5 is almost exactally like 3'rd. Not much change.

  • i prefer 2ED but ill be honest i like GURPS

  • I like GURPS too, but I also like D&D 3.5.

  • I agree with him.

  • Just keep playing 3.5, e-books are better than this 4th ed garbage.

  • Looks like somebody plays a wizard.

  • Been playing since 1978, and I have to agree with Hitler, here...(and oldgamergeek) 4th Ed is a paper emulation of WoW. Play is tedious (combat takes FOREVER) Spell classes are nerfed, and fighting is bogged down in a bad attempt at DPS emulation...a fine game was ruined, and effecttively alienated all us old schoolers. Count me out, too.

  • I'm not an old schooler, and I hate it. I wish people would stop saying the only people that dislike D&D 4th Edition are those that have been in the hobby for more than ten years.

  • Well, I can't speak for anyone else, and I never meant to imply that the ONLY people who rejected 4th Ed were us old schoolers, Ragitsu. In fact, I agree with you, and think anyone who knows gaming will find a lot to dislike in 4th Ed.

  • I am sorry, RevDrDark. I was venting in general and should have clarified I wasn't specifically saying that you meant something. I suppose replying directly to you didn't help much, huh :-)?

In any case, I play and have ran D&D 3.5, Star Wars SAGA, Star Wars Revised Core Rules, GURPS 4th Edition, Shadowrun 4th Edition, Monte Cook's World of Darkness, New World of Darkness, Spycraft 2.0, d20 Modern, HERO 6th Edition, and Mutants & Masterminds 2nd Edition at some point. I am considering trying

  • out Pathfinder next.

Would you happen to have any systems you'd recommend?

  • I have been playing D&D since 1974. 4th edition is not D&D.

  • The wizard isn't weaker. Learn to play, grognard. Its not all spelled out for you anymore.

  • funny as hell, 4E is lame and I will always play 3rd edition

  • Go back to first or second edition, bro. It's even more entertaining than third, which is still loads better than fourth :)

  • If you can't RP in 4e, you either have a poor imagination, or an even worse DM. I've played 4e games where the group went for hours before touching dice, talking to each other and NPCs, Roleplaying is a function of the players, not the system. Systems exist for conflict resolution, which D&D4e handles well. Get a better DM, play 4E, have fun.

  • @cassiraa It's a lot harder to RP when your characters are pigeonholed into tidy little packages like in 4E. And the healing surges are just one example of how unrealistic and unbelievable 4E is, when the entire point of d&d is to be able to suspend your disbelief. The idea is to create a fantasy world that still has believable elements, but RPing in 4E is like RPing a poorly designed video game.

  • Characters aren't pigeonholed, This was a valid argument when there was 1 book out, it no longer is. Saying that a ranger is a damage dealer and a paladin is a defender of others is just putting terms to what they've always done, you can't say that the old editions didn't have similar roles, they just weren't labeled easily. Healing surges represent your character's fatigue that even magic can not heal, your character is tired from being healed all day long and their body/spirit can't take more

  • Third edition was easily better. Rather than forcing the player to buy multiple players' handbooks just to have a decent variety in characters, 3rd provided a decent fantasy world that had large variety while not making the players feel like they are part of a fixed universe. 4th has some of the worst ideas ever for starting races, dragonborn and tieflings, as well as an ugly / WoW influenced art style that betrays the game's roots. Monsters are handled poorly, and not as easy to convert to PCs.

  • "Third edition was easily better. Rather than forcing the player to buy multiple players' handbooks just to have a decent variety in characters"

You say 4E "requires" you to buy multiple PHBs? Try seeing how many characters you can make with just the base 3.5 PHB. Not only that, 3E forced players to buy the DMG and even the MM as well in order to be able to use treasure and summons. Try comparing two Level 1's of the same class in 4E, who can have different powers, to two from 3E.

  • The idea is to create an enjoyable game that is fun to play, provides battles, as well as a world to RP in. 4e handles the first two better than old D&D. Your GM and imagination handles the last. If you can't get into the world, get a better DM or imagination.

  • I've never seen someone staunchly defend one of the most reviled gaming systems in recent memory. Healing surges are laughable gaming mechanics which allow you to heal a fourth of your max hit points. This means, in game terms, that you can somehow sweat out arrows that have been stuck to you. It's ridiculous, and just one of the many invented mechanics which are not present in real life. Having only two spells at first level is ridiculous as well, as is the unrealistic 'powers' system.

  • Comment removed

  • Finally, if you think only the GM handles the last, you've never played D&D. Past rulebooks had rules for a believable fantasy world, not just a fantasy combat wargame. 4E makes the DM's job much harder in everything besides the combat engine. The constant skill checks and dice rolling for npc convos? Really? They completely ruin the immersion. 4E was made with the misguided aim of attracting MMO players, it is a game that encourages metagaming and forces miniatures more than even 3rd did.

  • Your comments imply that 3E didn't have HP, full fighting ability if you had more than 1 hp, a metric boatload of unnecessary splat books, tieflings, dragonborn, bluff, or diplomacy skills. These are all wrong. Have you played older editions of D&D? 3e had skill checks for NPC convos if the GM wanted it. Did your GM want it in 3E? My 4e GM doesn't. 3e wizards had 3 0th and 1 1st level spell. 4e they have 2 at-wills, 1 encounter, 1 daily, And more rituals and prestidigitation.

  • 4e Races: Dragonborn, Dwarf, High Elf [Eladrin] Wood Elf, Halfling, Human, Tiefling, Deva[Aasmir] Gnome, Goliath, Half-Orc, Shifter, Bladeling, Bugbear, Bullywug, Changeling, Drow, Duergar, Genasi, Githyanki, Githzerai, Gnoll, Goblin, Hobgoblin, Kalashtar, Kenku, Kobold, Minotaur, Orc, Revenant, Shadar-kai, Warforged, Wilden. You're talking about 4e as it came out, comparing 1 book to 30 3rd books. It grew a lot and became a full fledged system now. I suggest you look into it, fellow gamer. :)

  • HP don't represent health. They represent fatigue, resolve, and your overall will to stay in the fight.. as well as health. Also, if you can't roleplay in it, that's your failure as a player. I roleplay just fine in any edition of any game.

  • @theredkatana

Forcing miniatures/tokens is good thing because they create more imersion and athmosphere.

  • @kethoth Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha... no.

  • The problem is the pigeonholing. Everything is TOO balanced. If im a spellcaster I am still giong to have an advantage. They didnt balance everything out. They just made the wizard weaker

  • I think realism is what makes the game fun. 4.0 feels more like a superhero game.

  • There is something drastically, dreadfully wrong with your argument if you are ever forced to paint Hitler as the "good guy".

  • Oh, man... That is too freaking funny.... Yeah, screw 4th!

Hasbro/WOTC, you messed up BIG TIME... there is no undoing this one... Hell, 3rd wasn't even ten years old!

  • I'm going back to white wolf! LOL

  • It's scary that I honestly don't find it much of a stretch.

  • I'm just surprised that grognards are honest enough to admit that they're Hitler when it comes to their rpg preferences.

  • I remeber the original video.

But this one is better because its sooo... unbelievably realistic for how much 4th sucks.

  • I happen to enjoy 4th ed., but I found this funny as crap!

  • i have never played ravenloft, dark sun, spelljammer, or mystara. i got as far as opening the box and reading up on the campaign world and thinking "well that's pretty much crap".

so i guess adolf would have thrown me out of the room!

  • That was funny

  • Oh god, my sides hurt. Awesome.

  • Happy Birthday to me! Who knew that Hitler and I shared any common ground?! Sheer Goodness
