  • Just got one for free! from a friend cleaned it up real nice but just wanted to say nice video learned some new things about it

  • @BustaNut157 A free gun? AWESOME!

CDNN sells mags for them if you need a few.

  • Just a few words to tell you that an interesting downloadable ebook on this model (technical and historic aspects) is available at HLebooks.com.

  • @HLebooks Thanks! I'll check it out.

  • My grandma gave me her colt woodsman but my dad said i would have to use standard velocity ammo. Would it really matter if i used bulk high velocity 22 ammo thru it? I wouldnt want it to blow up though.

  • @spritrocks The really old ones had non-heat treated mainspring housings that were prone to cracking of hi-vel ammo was used. I forget what year they went to heat treating all the new ones but I think it was in the 1930's or 40's. Google it and see what you come up with but until you know for sure just use standard velocity ammo.

  • My father took me to go shoot my grandfather's huntsman .22 today. Looks just like the one in the video. He gave it to me to hold onto lafter because he knows I collect guns. It was a lot cheaper to shoot at the range then my other guns. lol How did you find the year of yours? I'm curious of what year mine is as I am 28 and it belonged to my grandfather.

  • @01TegGSR check your inbox, I sent you a link to a web page with dates of manufacture.

AOL won't allow posting URL's here.

  • @3OCALM1 Thank you sir! From the looks of it, I believe I have a 1956. Thank you so much! :)

  • song please? help

  • @99billionninjas62534

Band : Coldplay, Song : "Talk"

  • Finally a video where someone actually fires one. I have been thinking of getting one but also worried if the appeal was only the look but from this video they look like they shoot great.

  • @smartguy104 Mine doesnt shoot too bad. Go for a Woodsman if you can. The Huntsman is just a poor man's Woodsman.

  • @smartguy104 Buy it! (perhaps you already did) I have a ruger MKII and a Browning Buckmark but none of these guns feel like the Colt Huntsman I just aquired. It feels so good in the hand you want to hold it all the time and it's a natural pointer due to the Luget-like inclination of the grip. Great gun to take to the woods to hunt squirrel and rabbits.

  • I have a 1922 Colt Pre-Woodsman with original grips and the original two tone magazine........I got it for $125.

  • @xXArt1cFoxXx you stole it!!

  • @3OCALM1 I bet the guy i got it from is having nightmares about it.

  • song?

  • I have a Colt .22 Woodsman that i got from my grandma! It is so clean. I cant wait to shoot it

  • @BluSpiderProductions Awesome!

Hang on to it and take good care of it. Old Colt .22's are getting hard to find.

  • ok my dad passed away in feb of this year and while going thru things my sister found a huntsman i cant find anything about it would you be able to help me

  • @towtruckeugene11 Sorry it took a while to get back to you. What did you want to know?

  • I have one 22lr Huntsman for sale.

  • what's the price of that gun??? I need to know, thanks.

  • I have one for sale at my site sales@ranchsaddle,com

  • kjeremytw@yahoo.com taking offers on my huntsman 22lr

  • @sefmm It aint for sale. I don't know what they cost now. I've had that one for 10 years.

  • I got 1. Inherited from my grandfather.

  • @tacokiller101 What pin is off?

  • i've got a '57 colt huntsman and i love it! you can never beat a good colt!

  • sweet, I've got a 1939 Colt Woodsman with a 4" barrel, i was told it was a military cadet pistol, but it doesn't have a clip.

  • Try CDNN's website. They usually carry them.

  • What song is playing at the beginning. And I'm also looking into a Colt Huntsman. Nice review.

  • @JohnhK738 its a song from Coldplay.

  • I love these guns! I inherited a Woodsman made in 1927. When I took it in to have it looked at to make sure it was safe to shoot the guy just glazed over and said, "How much are you asking?". It's so much fun to shoot, I would never give it up...

  • I don't know if you're aware of it or not but if your Woodsman is that old then it was meant to handle only standard velocity ammo. The mainspring housing on the ones before sometime in the 1940's (I think) were not heat treated. Use of hi-vel ammo can (and probably will) cause the mainspring housing to crack.

  • Yes, the gunsmith who checked it out warned me of this, and the gun has never seen anything but standard velocity ammo. I have a couple older rifles that I will only use the standard in as well.

  • Thats cool.

Just wanted to make sure you knew.

  • @3OCALM1 what fps would be considered standard velocity? or is it marked as standard? i only ask because i wanna make sure im shooting the right ammo.

  • @radioguy55 For a rifle it's about 1050 FPS or so. Not sure about handguns (more like I forgot). Most all .22 LR ammo except that made specifically for target shooting is hi velocity. Beyond that you get into hypervelocity like .22 Stinger, Velocitor, etc.... If your Woodsman is a '57 model then it will have the newer mainspring housing for hi-vel ammo. I don't know what the cutoff date is for the end of the non-heat treated mainspring housing is but I think it's pre-WW2 era.

  • @3OCALM1 thanks!

  • Very nice.You have some nice collection.Thanks.5*s

  • I love the old Colt Woodsmans. They literally "don't make 'em like they used to" with .22 autoloaders. I've got a Series 3 Huntsman from 1969; it's more reliable than all of my friends' modern rimfire pistols. The thing feels like its milled from a solid piece of steel.

  • looks like a good .22 pistol, I haven't seen that model before.

I was thinking about getting a Ruger mark II or mark III - they look like fun.

I like .22s, there so cheep to shoot, I have loads of fun with my Ruger 10/22 carbine, with ten round rotary mags, or 25 round butler creek mags

  • It's a decent peice but not very easy to find except for maybe Gunbroker.

I have 2 Ruger Mk.2's that are totally awesome. One is the 5 1/2" bull barrel that I've shot the shit out of over the years and the other is the Mk. 2 Government Competion Model (6 7/8" slab sided barrel) and with a scope on it I can hit out to 100+ yards with it. I don't have the current Mk. 3. There's things I like about the Mk. 3 and things I don't.

The magazine disconnect safety on them is total bullshit.

  • at 6:30 i think u hit the same spot every damn shot

  • looks a little bit like the german P08 Luger pistole! Great review!

  • Thanks!

  • No shit I have the same pistol. If I gave you the serial number with the last few numbers off could you tell me what year mine was made?

  • Check your inbox. Youtube, for whatever reason, won't allow me to post web addresses here so I had to send it to you.

  • Thanks, I check it out but I'm not sure it seems like mine was a really late gun like after 1975. I sent you the numbers.

  • I think mine was 74-75

  • Good Vid!

  • my grandmother haves that weapon, and we are from argentina :P. Its so beatiful. I love it.

  • I knew what you meant. I just didn't word my reply the way I should have.

    My bad.

  • haha more like. it doesnt look like a 1911 slide on a luger. if anything half a slide of a 1911

  • how many rounds do you pop on a good day xO

  • Depends on what I'm shooting and how much daylight I have left to burn.

With ammo costing what it does, even reloading components, I don't burn up ammo like I used to.

This ammo bullshit we're experiencing now really sucks!

  • agreed ammo should be cheap for wat u pay for the gun lol very good videos man keep it up

  • It fits the hand kind of like a Luger but other than that it's a lot different.

  • Thanks!

The music in the intro is from the Coldplay song "Talk".

  • Good to see that you didn't leave those clay targets to suffer. Clearly a case of 'mercy killing'.

Nice vid. Very well put together.

  • Thanks!

More like murdering wounded enemies, though.

  • We Kiwi's generally use our bayonets for that.....we are cheap, and ammo is expensive....

  • were do you live, it looks like florida

  • Yep, central Florida.

  • Are you kidding? Central FL? I live in South Florida....just a question, do you reenact in a WWII Unit? I could of sworn I saw you with 2nd Ranger's at an event!!! I do 2nd ID, 38th Reg, 3rd Batt., King Company...in Florida...

  • Wasn't me, I don't do re-enacting. I don't know of any re-enacting units in this area but there could be some that I just haven't heard of.

  • That is one very nice looking huntsman. I would sure like to have me one of them Woodsman .22's.

  • They're getting harder to find and pretty expensive.

I wanted a real Woodsman, but............

  • Nice little pistol!

  • Welcome back on these screens 30cal.

Always love to find new stuff from you.

  • nice gun!

  • deffantally
