I got these for my laptop and they are 50 watt rms total output. The box is a lie, it says 100w on the side but when you read the spec its only 2x 12 watts for the small speakers and 26 watt for the woofer. it sounds shit with full bass and distorts way before half volume, for the same price i got the logitech x530 for my desktop and the bass hits so much lower and sounds much less stressed than the philips. so for the same price i would have to say go for the logitech....

This Subwoofer is an epic fail dude! You can get MUCH better soundsystems for that money xD The Logitech X-230 is better than this one....... I had the X-230 befor i bought the Logitech Z-5500. And yes i heard this ones from Philips... and they are FAIL!

If it's 3.5mm out on the speaker set or RCA to 3.5mm it won't matter if the system is connected a mac or a pc is irrelevant as the 3.5mm port on either machine will output identical digital audio regardless of any additional soundcard within the pc. The only difference you'll notice is if the sound card does its own dynamic audio processing before output to the 3.5mm port, and even if it does you can achieve the exact same thing with software based EQ modification.
