Graze count is very important in all touhou games besides Mountain of Faith
a normal graze count at this point in the game would be around 2,000, but by the end of the spell he's at 20,000. because of this, point icons are worth 20% more than usual instead of the 2% with a normal graze count. If the point score was 10,000, it means each icon is now worth 12000 points instead of 10,200 points. Considering in insane amount of point icons you'll get and it adds up over the course of the game.
@megaidoitboy2 Because ZUN made it so that grazing in TH10 did not give the player any points (or an incredibly small amount, I never noticed any). Most Touhou games grant the player a bonus or immediate score gain when grazing, which can be vital depending on the game, though it is usually used mainly for getting good scores.
@DragonierZapp then again, how many people ACTUALLY play Touhou for score? I just play it to beat the damn game and unlock extra so I can beat that and feel awesome. xD

But posting about Touhou in that forum usually results in an unnecessary argument about the legitimacy of the Touhou games (difficulty comparisons, "who actually plays for score" and whatnot), and this thread was no exception.
@DragonierZapp You got your math wrong. The multiplier increases by 0.01x per 100 graze. This means that he would actually have 180% more point value than normal, or 10 times more than normal. But also, yes it adds up over the course of the game. Massively. This means you could win a Reimu C scoring competition that allows bombing and dying for score just by doing this and beating the game.
I never paid much attention to score when I play, but those bombings barely made 100k points, it that a lot more than what you can get from grazing all those bullets?
@SuCong Graze points increase your score multiplier. Having 10k graze already doubles the amount of score you get from point items, 20k graze triples it. This little trick makes your score go nuts.
@HirosamaNadasaki I meant that the point counter at the top right matters in those games because lives are given based on your points.
In IN/PCB, collecting a certain # of blue items gives you lives.

He IS grazing all those bullets. That's the whole point. Look at the graze counter.
