  • This is the greatest video I've ever seen.

  • Wow this takes me back to the beginning of my musical journey. Pure genius.

  • Kato on drums!

  • Brilliant...genius !!!!! Hermoso

  • An absolutely brilliant and often overlooked track IMO. I just wrote a piece of music where I used (For the first time ever LOL) a vocoder and it was while listening to Revolution by Jarre I got the idea. It's called Empty Child and you can listen by going to my channel if you'd like to hear something new :-)

  • JMJ is a genius. Remember that he wrote this song 22 years ago. A genius! JMJ 4ever!

  • 25 years ago... wow...

  • This was some far out shit of its time!!

  • WHAT IS THAT VOCODER ??? is anyone know the name ?

  • @xfkgjslkdjfglqd I think it's an EMS Vocoder 2000.

  • Brilliant...genus

  • Always circling in this kind of music haha

  • love this, stayed up one night just to here a koncert by this genial mann. it was long time ago, and i was young. but i stayed up and just enjoyed the strange music, i have loved it since!

  • CHUCK NORRIS SAYS THUMBS UP

  • What is a great song """:D

  • byłem pamiętam :)

  • I think the words of this song clearly have little to do with the French revolution.

It much more generic than that.

  • great video!!

  • Sorry to disappoint you kevinatucia, but the reason given for this track was the 200 anniversary of the French Revolution. In the album sleeve, Jean - Michel devoted the song to children of revolution worldwide.

  • chevere

  • ♥♫♥ JEAN MICHEL JARRE ♥♫♥

Thank you for your visit to my channel

  • awesome my dear friend :)

    Nana

  • this would be a good song for the arab revolutions that took place all over the Middle East and Northern Africa!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it was meant for this.

  • Amazing!! Simply the best!!

  • la crem de la cremmmmmmmmmmmm

  • una obra de arte

  • Jarre le prophète, god of music...

  • Jean Michel Jarre is a music genius! He changed music's history forever, being decades ahead of his time. Great vision, spectacular shows and a very modest artist. For one, I thank you, monsieur Jarre!

  • Revolution? I just see the System updating itself. Humans will remain slaves as long as most of them are selfish and ignorant. Of course, the System will always fight for it's own survival by maintaining scarcity.

  • @tuzmor

true my friend..very much true...system is self adapting and humans needs fast evolution by revolution only..

  • I have searched this Song for Years(20 actually).Where is it from?I guess it was on the ZOOLOOK-LP. But I can find this neither, anyway.Do you know more?Join in to Papa7851!!! ITS GREAT!!!

  • @Papa7851 Album "Révolutions", from 1988.

  • @Papa7851

This is from the recording of the same name.."Revolution"..google it and you'll find it!!

  • @Papa7851 it's on "revolutions" (1998).... easy question, easy answer? :)

  • @Papa7851 Look for the live version of this song in Paris La Defénse Concert in 1989-90, maybe the best version of this theme. Bye

  • Wow I never knew this track was actually played live!

  • i remember this like yesterday 5 mins from my house and it was raining so much but well worth it

  • good

  • totaly awesome cud not get tickets

  • I was there!

  • i was there had 1 of the best times ever would recomend people see him live saw him at wembley aswell trippin me titts off (G)(O)(O)(D)(T)(I)(M)(E)(S)

  • Man that vocoder sound is eargasmic... I WANT ONE

  • michel ,nach vangelis...nr 1 in syntesizer world. bis heute konnte niemand ihn übertreffen

  • its not live

  • he was ahead of its time

  • Manden er jo utvivlsom skingrende hamrende sindsyg. Men musik det kan han altså lave

  • @tillemulle

  • Was there, wetter than a wet person, queued for hours and hours, it was worth it and would do it again and again.

  • @Nutrocker07 I remember that stewards were handing out black plastic bags for people to keep dry, the guy in front of me took 8 leaving me and my girlfriend with none. Great concert though.

  • brilliant music and performance. i love the fusion in it and the message it conveys.

  • vision of the future? The wall came down and all these countries that Russia had taken in World War 2 took back their indipendence.

  • wonderful

  • @1.22 he says 100.000 xd

  • Comment removed

  • Was there on the first night, Ethnicoulor made your bones rattle, this song seemed to go on forever and you hoped it would never end. This song was way ahead of its time and still is. Human, not Human, freedom No freedom, choice no choice,,,,,Revolution.

  • É o mestre!Jarre é o mestre!!

  • @uomidoido Jarre é mesmo o mestre. Também adoro esta música.

  • went to see this concert on the second day,was propably the best concert ive ever been to, just truely mesmerising

  • Mostly Iranians like this Video because in the original Video there were scenes of the Iranian Revolution which uprooted 10 million Iranian upperclass that now reside from Alaska to Newzealand.

  • If that is true then it's inspiring and this song is highly relevant at this moment in time.

From an English point of view there seems to be a very worrying prospects coming from Iran, and an extremely split country, much like the subtexts in this track.

Wish I actually went down to docklands to see this show, but decided not to in the end as there was some dross going on at the local pub that weekend. What a wasted weekend!!!!

  • @kevinatucla hi! where i can find this originally video? it'sn't on you tube! give me a link, if you can! thanx!

  • @kevinatucla and uprooted an evil dictator too, US puppet, the Sha Reza Palevi...

  • @ 1.36, he's like, "WtF" .. =))

  • what about the vocoder?

  • ta, fantastic n so apt 4 me 2day, as in 87

    One love :)

  • i worked as security for the docklands concert , i was there both days and i had a fantastic time best of all it didn't cost me a penny :)

  • From Which It Springs It Travels Far But Can It Come Back Without Any Harm? Without This In Heart's Desire No True Revolution Is Safe From Fire.

  • I was there. My very first journey to that there London! I remember what seemed like a 30 mile que and rain. But even so - what a visual and audio extravaganza. Saw him last year play Oxygene live at the Albert Hall - that was the dogs b**ks.I would love to go to see a live version of Concerts in China - or Equinoxe and Magnetic Fields combo - but as he did with the Albert all - original gear and live.

  • @aotyehel I too was there, pissed wet through, but didn,t give a toss. Most fantastic event I have ever seen.

  • I was at this gig!!!:D I can't believe I was only 8 years old at the time LOL! That was 20+ years ago and I still remember the rain. The gig was awesome!!!!

  • awsome music from a genius who will be remembered for a 1000 years

  • does this remind anyone of the music in rocky two or three when the robot says "happy birthday paulie"

  • Rocky 4 !!!!!!

  • jesus ur right. thanks man

  • Its called a 'Vocoder'. A fun machine to have - great for ansaphone messages!

  • Thank to my Spanish friend Manel I have got his fanmade DVD from Destination Docklands :D Thank you a lot my friend Manel :D

  • Fabulous!

  • Indeed, but an awful performance put on Mike Mansfield (director / producer) who spoilt this concert. This could have been so much better.

  • why do you say that, i thought it was great despite the pen pushes trying to ruin the whole event, oh and the rain!!

  • well, if some one ask you where trance music come from...

  • souvenir

  • timeless

  • simply the best of jmj....

  • Lag Insect rulezzzz!!

  • Amazing. I love it.

  • much more melodic, crafted, harmonic, original than kraftwerk methinks

  • omg!!

I actually went to this concert.

I had never heard of him at the time, went cos my partner had the tickets.

    Came away totally hooked. lol

It was at the Docklands in London..

  • consept is mevlana soufism and the instrument is ''ney''. these are the elements of anatolia culture. i think ney is the best mystic instrument.. thanks to jarre about this beautiful music. 5 stars frum turkey...

  • talkbox :D

  • As for a bit Kraftwerk-ish ?

Sure... signs in the Synthsized Voice Modulation. But hey... Kraftwerk played German "Marsch Musik" by comparison to the vitality of this performance !? Viva la Difference !

  • Music... great blend of rhythms and cultures.

Message... important 21 years ago and critical today !

    What's your Choice ? :)

  • This version is seriously missing loads at the start, when the synth bass line starts to build up in sequences.

  • Thats because the dooshebag director had decided to trim the concer to down for TV, so what songs ARE missing, the rest have been trimmed down painfully. But that been said, I offically hate Mike Mansfield for creating this travesty...

  • Like many artists, as Jean travelled around the world he would have become more and more aware of different cultures, religions types of music as well as current affairs and this is certainly reflective in his music journey...

  • a bit kraftwerk-ish.

  • yes , a bit

  • That's what i thought :P

    Great song by the way!

  • APOTEOTICO RECITAL!. Awesome concert!

  • beauty

  • chef d'oeuvre...

  • The strange thing about this song is that for me, it starts off REALLY bad. I didn't like the song when i first start listening to it. But then , strangely enough, the JMJ-magic kicks in and i start liking it...

  • Thanks!

  • Awesome awesome concert, I'd love this on DVD, does anyone know if it's available? The rain added so much to the atmosphere of the whole thing - always remember the slow mo rain slashing off the drum skins as they were being hit!

  • Best of Jarre is Oxygene 2 !

  • acidhouse before acidhouse!

  • Fantastic music.

  • That Chinese woman dances like an android.

  • Is a man.

  • I was at this concert. What a night. I think it took about a week to get over it. Anyone there will know how much it rained. What a showman.

  • Was it a free concert ?

  • No mate it wasent. It was supposed to be, however, a tussle up with the local council meant you had to pay for it.

  • i remember watching jean michel jarre at maine road in the early nineties sounds as good as ever fntastic stuff

  • Wow i was at the same concert it was the europe in concert tour right ? it was a good 1.

  • to jest najpiekniejszy koncert z Londynu,,,,

  • fantastic thanks

  • I wanna see September

  • the best of jarre

  • jarre with lyrics

  • rewolusion ale jak

  • Revolution!!! 1987?

  • Revolution

    Human, not human

    Freedom, no freedom

    Change, no change

    Revolution

    Employment, no employment

    Choice, no choice

    Memory, no memory

    Revolution

  • Excellent!!!

  • I really enjoyed the concert... on television

  • haha, so relevant today

  • @iTellYouNoLie Oh yes......the way the powers that be treat us there needs to be a world wide peaceful revolution (sit-ins, strikes and non cooperation) where the people string up the banksters, corporates and their allies the politicians, then we can finally move on as a species and take our rightful place amongst the stars.

  • I used to adore JMJ - had all of his albums - then went to the Docklands concert and had one of the worst nights of my life..... what was WORSE than the rubbish weather was the fact it was SO obvious that this was pre-recorded and everything was mimed - the sound was perfectly the same as the album!!! Not only that he and Hank Marvin stood on the stage chatting - not even PRETENDING to play at one stage!!

  • haha sounds like a bit of a disaster :D

  • it's supossed to sound like the recording...it's electronic music!!!

  • Sounding LIKE it wasn't the problem - you obviously completely MISSED the point - the point was that it WAS the recording.... sounding LIKE it would have been fine..... duh!

  • I prefer 1990 "La Defense" performance (entire show was just amazing!), but this one was a great deal too.

    BTW: Jean-Michel Jarre rocks!

  • Especially when the laserharp failed at La Defense and we were treated to about 2 minutes if live improv! No miming that day I can tell you for sure...everything went belly up big style!

  • I hate that it's all playback...

  • yeh, miming at a gig that big is really lame.

  • This is my all-time favorite! Even due I'm only 26 years old....

  • I totally agree....this is the best tune..nice and punchy...god did we get wet that night but it was so worth it !!

  • I was there too and stood out side in a que for 8 hours with no toilets just a billboard to go behined who else remembers the people going around selling unbrellas for £5 and the silence walking back to the carpark

  • God I remember it like it was yesterday, leaving and ariving at the venue, i qued for the concert to find out it was the que for the burggger van .......no kiidding. It was damp and like you said there were no toilets. Still I had a great night.....and those memories will never leave me......Woooooohooooo, ain't he the best ....

  • great stuff. that first REVOLUTION that he says gives me chills.

  • What is there more to say, a pioneer on the synthesizer gerne. I think only a few may be compared to this man. Klaus shultze, Tangerine dream dont forget Kraftwerk, and offcourse Vangelis in the earlier years when he did more on the keys then composing classic.

JMJ is a man that gave electro a face. His is all over it in conjunction with the other names (IMHO) mentioned above. I think electro fans will agree with me on this one.

  • i think he peaked at paris.

Houston, docklands, paris what a trilogy of gigs, pieces of music.

  • I remember it was pouring with rain that day!!

  • was there aged 6 .does any one know where i can get a copy of desernation docklands 1988 on dvd? please help ants

  • Put in a search on ebay and it is bound to turn up

  • I remember being there for the concert on the first of the two days.

    Still after 20 year, amazing.

  • me too!! Amazing!

  • Quality !

  • either way both jmj and orbital are legends for development of electronic music

  • now i know where Orbital got their inspiration from, or was JMJ at this time just a bit inspired by the whole acidhouse scene??

  • I prefer the raveolution of Moscow

  • wtf favorite 500 limit?

  • This, for me is the best live version!
