@gsschoenfeld I have seen you comment that same thing on other videos before, and want to ask you, why? Are you trying to discourage others from getting Confirmed just because you couldn't make a choice about it yourself? Confirmation is such a great gift, and I pray that all Catholics and Christians come to realize that they need it awfully. Without the Holy Spirit we couldn't pray or hear when God was calling us. I know that this isn't true for everyone, though I wish it was, but I'm making m
I ask this as someone who went through confirmation at 16, are you pushing for the sacrament at to early of an age? I was an atheist long before then, but since I was still a young teenager this "choice" was made for me. My confirmation was done out of guilt trips, being told to get in line by the parish, and with the promise of a few hundred bucks at the end, and I know I'm not alone in this. Why mandate a decision that we're not willing to let teenagers make on their own?
My religious "confirmation" was a ritual I was forced to participate in as a child so my extended family could have cute pictures of me holding a cross and wearing a tie. I think it was supposed be the point where I confirmed my personal responsibility for my actions in the eyes of the church. In reality it confirmed nothing except the vanity of religion for the sake of tradition, that I could memorize a stack of prayers, and that I was too scared to stand up against my parents and the church.
I am 45 and have not been confirmed. I was going to do it this up coming Easter, but after having gone through the process, I stopped with the proceedings today. Why? Because I DO NOT WANT A SPONSOR! I like to do my "Religious Journey" on my own. And since the Vatican changes out prayer at the Mass'es through the years, maybe they should reconsider the sponsorship! But what the hell do I care? I'm NOT doing it. No volunteering! I've done "my share" of it, I now charge for my services.
*Clap clap clap* Very well done! Blessings on you who are producing these marvelous videos. At age 61, I have lived through such times of turmoil and confusion in the Church. Thank God for the 21st century and its renewal of the Ecclesia. Deo gratias, Deo gratias, Deo gratias!
