can you mess with the sharp on these, because i have really good idea for turning it down and getting a GOOOOOD film look going with a vivid type effect
man this camera looks so awesome, but helped a guy do a few shots of a feature film couple of months ago and noticed that it overheats so quickly and he was only filiming for like 30 min, and so many articles online state the same thing, not sure i want to spend that much money for the camera to overheat!!
I go back and forth to NY and was just there last weekend, but seeing this makes me miss it! Great film. I've been on the fence between 5d, 7d and 60d. This is a great argument for 7d!
very cool footage. I'm intrigued as much as I love my 5D2 if the scene involves Orange/Red tones like from a tungsten lamp spilling onto a wall its like a blizzard of noise .This is the case even at 1000 ISO. bothers me a lot for future projects. Have you noticed the amber spectrum a problem with the 7D?
It looks marvelous. Nothing against you but I think we need more "test" videos with soft music with people looking dazed, lonely and confused about life. I need to make sure the shallow depth of field really works
Please god test the camera just one more time! No, I changed my mind we need more testing. What we need are scripts. I haven't bought one yet but when I do I will fight everything in my soul not to post another test video. Damn, I am already thinking of a lonely bike wheel spinning while in the blurry background I wonder around my backyard crying violently while trying to play hacky sack while wearing a wool cap and listening to wired un-named Starbucks music. Dreamy
Actually there is a lot of it! in a good way! looks like film noise
1:23 and all dark places.. at this range you will have noise.. Its clean tho! The camera is doing a great job removing the color in the noise but the noise is still there in a good way!!! Film Grain effect
Get it! don't think you will need to boost to such high ISO other than to produce film noise effect.
Also at such high ISO, the color quallity drops.. Canon is not strong in digital high ISO.
Everyone should be more concerned about story, not grain in the footage. Amazing video + weak story = garbage. Great story + mediocre footage = awards.
To avoid grainy footage in low light, you'll need to replace the kit lens with something faster like a large aperture prime lens. This way you can shoot low light and not have to crank up the ISO rating.
hi, i just bought a 7d with kit lens 18 135... i've tried to shoot in low light but the image is so gainy and (above all) noisy... i've tried different settings... but i can't reach the wonderful images i've seen on youtube... i know my lens are standard ones but i've seen a lot of videos shot with my lenses and they're absolutely not noisy... can u suggest me a setting to shoot with low lights? thanx!
what is neat video and what can it do for the 7d that it cant do alone? i think we shouldnt have to resolve for these plugings. i think the 7d should be able to produce beautiful video alone. i think we might have defective cameras?
hi... neat video is a software able to completely delete the noise on videos... if u dgt "neat video" on google u can find the site... you're right about neat video, ourd canon should shoot with low or no noise at low iso.... anyway yesterday i bought the 50mm 1.4 by canon, and now i can shoot at low iso (200 -max 500) in low light , even night!! it has a little problem of noise with red tints (even at 400 iso ... at night anyway...) . in any case i think that i'm going to ask to my seller .
Another thing: remember that we are lookin through the zize of a stamp (youtube window) so we can't recognize and a lot of artefacts... if u look this astonishing clip, you'll note that there is a lot of noise in the last scenes... now try to imagine if we would watch it on a big tv screen... so i think that anyway we should ask our seller but i don't think our 7d is broken
yes im afraid to maximize my video footage on my monitor because i know that there will be a lot of noise. i notice that after transcoding to avids prores equivalent i lose some noise.
mhm... i don't know about avid... i use final cut... anyway i'm gonna ask around and i'll let u know... by the way, i saw some footage where u can see director robert rodriguez shootin' a videoclip with a pair of 7d, take a look! c u soon
Not bad for a 'test video' Mike...... not bad at all. Good composition, use of light within your shots and use of X 2 FCP shot speed cut with 24fps... nice sequence. Tell me how easy was it to introduce your video files onto FCP? Generally how are they to work with (import/export)??
Looks good, but the 7d doesn't appear to bea very good low light camera at all compared to the 5d. You don't appear to have much of an issue with rolling shutter either. Nice work. I think if canon can increase the sensor sharpness and eliminate the shutter issue, they will have a winner on their hands.

Nikon is well known for better high ISO but Canon has the best video features for DSLR so far, acording to some tests..
Nikon D3s is sick but this Canon can do just fine... Nikon D3s is too $.....!
