  • on the big screen..

  • dear dad when im at the dome may we watch the shining lol.

  • can u say WINGS lol ...

  • i like this one to kus of glen miller music

  • if you read the book, the 1980 version is a terrible adaption compared to this

  • @NachoMachoLibre Exactly my sentiments! The Stanley Kubrick/Jack Nicholson version is sesame street compared to the novel.

  • @NachoMachoLibre I agree with you. Stephen King said in an interview, back when this version came out in the mid 90's, that he wasn't satisfied with the version with Jack Nicholson in it. This version is extremely close to the book, which is what he wanted. I think this version is much, much better--it's one of my favorite movies, actually. I read the book, and I think the only difference is how it ended, but it wasn't that big of a deal. The ending here is cool, too.

  • the nicholson film is a psychological film that is difficult to get under the skin of, it's an atmospheric masterpiece with great acting and scary underlying meanings. everything is this film is presented to the audience in a silly, plastic and corny way.

  • @rocksoliddude1 Well yeah, but most of it is how it was imagined by Stephen King in the novel, with the croquet mallet and the fire hose and st

  • @rocksoliddude1 Thats the problem with it! It's supposed to be an eerie supernatural horror film, (the way the author intended it to be) not a mans descent into murderous madness. Jack was a victim of the hotel just as much or maybe even more than his family was. That is what makes the book so disturbing.

  • Also some draw backs include the silly animal bushes coming to life even though that was in the book and the corny ending with the kid graduation is almost nauseating !!!

  • @826wanderer i know this version is laughable, it's full of moral bullshit and happy endings. it doesn't have any creepiness like the original.

  • ah , Kubricks version went on forever at less than 2 and a half hours long , SK's version is 4 and a half hours and moves along just fine ! De Mornay is far superior than Duvall !! Now I won't even bother comparing Weber to Nicholson but as far as this film I found his role much more believable and in depth as to why he goes off the deep end !!! Nicholson flew off the handle almost immediately before you could figure out WHY !! I don't like the kid here either !!!! Do like that Garrish Bar !!!

  • So much better than the jack nicholson version; he was so over the top he ruined the whole movie and I hated that kid. This one is natural and so sweet.

  • My brains are coming out of my nose when i hear dannys voice in this one :SSSSSSSSSs

  • Dislike.

  • I like this for staying truer to the book but Jack nickholson was far better

  • Just seeing this kid makes me wanna puke :X

    what a mongrel.

  • I wanted to like this, but trying to replicate jack Nicholson and Stanley Kubrick is just not feasible. And a croquet mallet? Cmon. If anyone is watching this who hasn't seen the original I beg you to go watch that one.

  • @Blamepandora85 It's truer to the book. It was a Roque mallet in the book. I do agree about Jack Nicholson, though.. Jack Nicholson was the best as Jack Torrance.

  • @fudgepackproductions i love you for posting this, thank you. I remember watching this on tv when i was younger.

  • this is more faithful to the book but it is not better. kubrick filtered all the rabble from the book and created an atmospheric horror movie.

  • This version is suppose to be more accurate to the book. who cares, kubricks version is better.

  • Search "THE $H1N1NG 1980 P1", if you want the original.

  • I love watching Steve Weber, but this is a movie that should not have been remade. What movie is exactly like the book..... I do give points though for the fact that this was filmed at the Stanel Hotel. That is pretty cool. Check out Ghost Hunters, they spent a weekend at the hotel. Pretty interesting. Beautiful place!!!

  • @FudgePackProductions thanks i am watching it because of you!

  • FUCK FBI AND SOPA FOR BANNING MEGAUPLOAD

  • THE MOVIE WAS THE

  • Weber is a fine comedic actor, but he simply doesn't have the menacing presence nicholson has. When he starts to go crazy,he looks like an older brother trying the old bloody thumb gag.Duvall was outstanding, think of her situation, and tell me her performance isn't more believable than demorney.Lloyd is far better than mead, crothers than pebbles. And just because the miniseries is closer to the book, means nothing. The book itself is silly and boring.Kubrick took trash, and turned into a timeless gem.

  • Stephen King was allegedly horrified when he saw Kubrick's finished product. He was so dissatisfied that he ordered a remake nearly 20 years later. This one is more loyal to the book as per King's wishes; the role of Wendy is a lot more bearable than the one that Shelley Duvall butchered.

  • Stephen king didn't want nicholson because he wanted someone who looked sane that descends into madness. Also he didn't want duvall because she was ugly and looked like she had a tough life. He wanted someone that looked like a cheerleader that never had to overcome anything

  • Elliot Gould?! Oh my goodness!!! lol

  • The guy who plays Ullman is a shit actor.

  • The mom is really hot though. i wish they'd shown the 2 of them making love in that scene. I ordered this on DVD. I like both versions of the movie.

  • Thanks for uploading!! I remember watching this as a kid and it scared me. I was trying to look all over for it but could not find it anywhere

  • This is so much closer to the book. SO much better than the Jack Nicholson version.

  • wont fucking play :(

  • @missezza23 Try pausing your Ad blocker, if you're using one. That normally works for me.

  • @missezza23 so?

  • The little kid is FUCKIN annoying..holy god what horrible casting decision

  • @dawg1157 Rebecca DeMornay I think was well cast-- Certainly a better choice for Wendy Torrance than Shelley Duvall was, but otherwise, Kubrick's is better in almost every way. Despite Kubrick's kind of missing the point of the novel, at least it's SCARY- In this we slavishly follow every line of dialog, and then RUSH PAST anything that might build some tension, or god forbid, scare somebody!

  • @GoblinXXX I heard somewhere that Jack Nicholson actually HATED working with Shelly Duvall. Both Nicholson and Kubrick noticed how she couldn't act worth a damn and Nicholson thought Duvall was making his acting look bad. Not to mention she had a horrible time remembering her lines. I think the Stephen King version had good cast members for both Wendy and Jack. It's a tough call....but I think Kubrick's version is much better.

  • @dawg1157 The damnable thing is, as I said, Kubrick's adaptation misses the point of the novel, but once you've seen it, you WILL see Nicholson as Jack Torrance when you re-read it. Say what you will, it's a good movie, and it makes a lasting impression.

  • @dawg1157 Kubrick mentally and verbally abused Shelley Duvall off-camera to make her performance more realistic, and even though Jack didn't particularly care for her, he did comfort her between takes when he felt that Kubrick was going too far.

  • @dawg1157 I know...I always hated him, he was on some soap that my mom used to watch all the time around when this production came out.

  • Thanks for uploading

  • thanks for this

  • What a great set-up! Pity the rest of it tanks.

  • Whats this the Hamptons?

  • It's hard to understand why anyone would " want " to pay for watching movies through some sites. They're so dark it's as though I'm watching my old TV...but really I do appreciate this.

  • Too much dialogue, not enough STYLE. Show don't tell. I hope another theatrical version is done in the distant future. The book demands CG for the hedge animals and Jack's fate at the end. It needs to be done. Kubrick's version stands on its own but the book demands another theatrical film.

  • @CoscarelliFan Oh, god, the topiary in this were SO disappointing, and I'm not talking effects: When Jack is out trimming them alone, the first time, is one of the scariest scenes in the book, when he's NOT SEEING them move, but knows they ARE moving. In this, they spent about 2 minutes on it, building NO tension at all, it's pathetic. That didn't need effects, just directing and editing skill.

  • Haven't seen this on TV since 07...thanks!

  • What an awesome movie! Thanks for uploading!

  • thanks for uploading!!

  • There is no possible argument and should never be one about how much better kubericks version is to this one. Such a shame how bad King is at writing for screen

  • i def. like Kings script more then Kubricks,he left out to much in the old version..

  • You rock SO MUCH for uploading this.

  • @fruitegable Ditto that.
