These are actually DRUMSET TRIPLETS - Known specifically as a "Substitution" - a Triplet is the RUDIMENT form which is NOT on the drumkit. See Mastering the Triplet DVD for breakdowns on the many variations a rudiment can be performed on the drumkit and substituted as well as how triplets can be performed as a GROOVE.
Is that the two are completely different things. The information in this video is misleading. If drummers are aspiring to be great, the should know what they are doing, and proper technique for each. This seems like one of those horrible instructional videos that just gives you the basics of the "fill" or "groove" and shows you how to play it slow, and then tries to show off by playing it fast. There's more two it than just rushing out as many "triplets" as you can.
great lesson - I've been playing 30 years and it was nice hearing it expained so simply. I interplay with a double on the bass drum too - sounds beautiful - also speed triplet on the bass drum too. I count 1 trip-let, 2 trip-let etc.... we all have different counting techniques I guess.
who cares how triplets are counted.. i count them 1 & a 2 & a 3 & a.. anyways awesome video man! helped me expand so much on my use of triplets:D rock on! thanks..
all drum notes can be counted slightly diffrnt as long as they match there various comprable counting methods, this video was good I didnt know how to do a triplet till now thanks whoever your are man!
Actually Splinter, Triplets are counted 1 & A, 2 & A, OR you can count them 1-ta-ta. I would love to hear your triplets, so maybe I could learn them properly.
Great lesson dude keep it going.
