@JOHNJ008 the Galactica did die fighting, did you see the damage on her? She was basically dead after the last jump, she would never jump let alone fight ever again so she was flown out in style. There's no better way to die than to be launched into a star LOL
Sad, as I not seen it yet in the UK, hoping when it comes out on DVD I'll get it. Sad ending for the GALACTICA, she should of died fighting as she was built to.
it was fraking amazing this episode and very emotional it goes agaisnt all my beliefs giving up technology but i can understand why they did it, and you guys are right it is very touching how galacitca the first of its class (yes it was) was the last as well an amazing ship!!!!!!
Besides, look at it this way. After the attack, he was a rock. He kept everyone together and focused, including the president, which also included hiding his feelings for her. Now HEAVY responsibility has been lifted, his love of his life is dying, he's the type that would rather have complete isolation and solitude, I know I would. He had responsibility both for victories and living with failure. After that, a little hard to relate to anyone else. A quiet retirement.
It always bugged me that we never got to see Adama and Tigh bid farewell. What, Admiral, you can spare a final look at your ship, but not at your best friend?
I'm probably sure he would have done that already but we never see it. And yes as an admiral, he does have the prerogative to be the last to say farewell to Battlestar Galactica :P. Besides, it's usually a protocol for any ship commander to be the last one off the ship.
Exactly, lol, sorry about the posts, this thing kept erroring out last night so I kept trying. Apparently it did post. i agree, and it was sad when she passed, although we knew it was coming. I was heart broken for Bill, but in the end, even as he knew it was near, he flew her around and was with her not allowing her to just pass as a sick woman on her death bed.

When watching through all of the series of BSG, it's interesting to note that Galactica's condition not only changed on the outside dramatically but also on the inside. If you see the scene of the hangar deck of this episode and compare it to the ones shown in the pilot mini-series, you'll see a dramatic difference as well.
I agree with Coraxuss... very fitting. And we have to admit even though she was the first to be build, and now is full of holes of many epic battles (mostly done on New Caprica), she lived on and survived unitl the end...
How fitting, Galactica, the very first battlestar to come into existence (assuming that's true) to become the last battlestar in existence before heading out into the sun.
If you're reading this, I'm about to explain what would be a SPOILER so if you don't want to be surprise then look away.
Here's the reason: The humans (and Cylon allies) abandoned themselves on Earth by discarding their entire fleet and technology along with the legacy of the Twelve Colonies of Kobol into the sun in hopes of starting fresh and breaking the cycle of violence that has cursed them for thousands of years.
Nope, the entire fleet is a ghost convoy devoid of any living beings. Only Sam Anders is the one left onboard. He was programmed to direct the fleet into the sun. And assuming you've never seen all the episode, a bullet hit him in the head making him partially a vegetable so he was reduced to become a Cylon hybrid, humanoid beings that act as the heart and sole of modern Cylon basestars.
@Coraxuss WOW. i read the wikipedia article. i wouldnt mind having spaceships around now, damit u people! wat do u mean he is the heart and soul of the basestar?
When this aired, I cried when I saw this scene. The sight of the fleet plunging into the sun to the strains of the Colonial Anthem/TOS BSG theme was a heartbreaking moment. Good work on this.
Galactica.

Actually, one can look at both Adama and Roslin as parent figures to all of humanity that survived the Cylon holocaust of the 12 Colonies of Kobol.

You did a great job of meshing the music to the scenes (not easy to do, btw). Thank you for posting.
