  • The reason they aren't going mental is because they're U2 fans and they're far older than average Muse fans. Also you never really go crazy for a support act...

  • i love u2

    BUT ITS FUCKING MUSE!!!!

  • That's Prokofiev they start with, it's a great piece! I bet Bellamy chose it, or I hope so.

  • This takes my breath away. West Side Story is one of my favorite musicals... a song from one of my favorite musicals being covered by my favorite band of all time. I CAN'T EVEN IMAGINE.

  • I like to be in America, okay by me in America...

  • they could easily dell out giants stadium

  • I wish u got to see Muse on U2's stage, 2 fave bands on one stage. Amazing.

  • ppsshh muse could open with any song and it wouldn't make a difference.

  • To the retarted Muse fans, I like Muse, I really do but to suggest they are better than U2 by a wide margin is rediculous, They should be grateful U2 gave them that kind of exposure. Nothing Muse will ever come out with will top The Joshua Tree/Achtung Baby. These fans are starting to remind me of Radiohead fans who think they're better or smarter than everyone else just because they like Radiohead, btw Radiohead is THE most overrated band ever.

  • I hate how I didn't find out they were opening for U2 until AFTER THE CONCERT WAS SOLD OUT! darn you days of just starting to love muse!

  • Haarp? XD

I love both bands. I missed them and I died. :3

  • freaking awesome stadium for a freaking awesome amazing band/

    go muse,

  • hmm this is seemingly the best version of them playing this i can find, kudos to you kenshin, does anybody know any better versions?

  • That's a very lame crowd isn't it? But i certainly would've chosen a better song for an intro like Knights of Cydonia or something since they're not that big in the US, atleast that song has been in Guitar hero, you know. // Swedish girl

  • Knights is better as a closer, unless they opened with Knights and closed with Plug In Baby or Bliss.

  • @YouSWETube They are pretty big in the US, but with a younger audience. Majority of the crowd are middle aged men and woman, while a muse concert is mostly late teens early 20s

  • Muse kicks Ugays ass... huhuhu... Huh? what? wait... but really i like both bands and I have a tremendous amount of respect for U2 but i have to say muse is more musically creative and better at creating an atmosphere to their music.....but it's totally a matter of personal opinion. Once you start listening to Muse you seriously can't stop. They are incredibly gifted musicians.

  • whats the name of the tune at thestart?

  • look tchaikovsky

  • Prokofiev - Dance of the Knights

  • thanks very much, i always wanted to know!

  • @ScottieWallace It's great isn't it? From "Romeo and Juliet"

  • dance of the knights

  • Here's how things boil down. Muse and U2 are both great bands. Muse is rising fast and U2 is already up there. But by having Muse open for U2, U2 is helping Muse by increasing their exposure.

It irritates me when somebody says that one band dominates the other, especially since this is based on OPINION

I like both bands, but I like U2 more because they appeal to my preferences better.

  • @zodiacdragoon great said even though I like Muse much more^^ BUT... as you said... It is a matter of opinion :D

  • Muse is kickass and I have all their albums and will see them for the third time in March but it sickens me to see how arrogant and ridiculous the common Muse fan is these days. You all sound like Radiohead fans.

  • Huh? I dont know what Radiohead fans sound like, so...can you explain?

  • It just sucks when you like a band and watch their videos, then read the comments hoping for some good discussion and all you get is bitter Muse fans bitching and moaning about how Muse is the greatest and everyone else sucks and people are fucking idiots for not recognizing. That's how Radiohead fans tend to act. Like they're better and smarter then everyone simply cause they're Radiohead fans. I'm noticing more and more that Muse fans are becoming like this and it's rather discouraging.

  • I know a few Radiohead fans like that. I thought that was just how those specific people were though, not how all RH fans are lol

  • haha true. Obviously not all Radiohead fans are like this but a prevailing number of them seem to be. Maybe just the ones who post messages online. Either way I don't understand all the bitterness. Muse opened for U2 and that was a huge opportunity for them in North America. Muse will now do a headlining arena tour in North America. It's cool. Opening for U2 was cool cause it exposed them to hundreds of thousands of people who may have never heard of them here. It's a GOOD THING.

  • muse= gods

  • Who originally played America? This is Muse's cover.

  • Comment removed

  • hang on no wrong song..

it was in west side story i think

  • It's from West Side Story.

  • considering that muse have only been around for 10 years and U2 has been around for 25-30 years, muse has achieved a lot and i know that once U2's time is done, muse will rise up and be the biggest/best band ever! i think the new album wasn't bad but it wasn't the best but i believe the purpose of it was to convert people from different music tastes to start listening to their music. like all my friends adore hip hop and hated muse but after uprising and undisclosed desires they are huge fans!!

  • Hahahaha! I love Muse but again such a naive comment making all Muse fans look like idiots. They will Never be the biggest band ever. To such shit is ridiculous. Love the band but fuck sakes keep it real.

  • Muse kicks U2's ass period. Easily!

  • Hmmm. So it was Muse who drew the 85,000 people then? Muse is freakin awesome, but they have their place, and U2 has theirs. Muse will only ever open for U2.

  • @cobe2121 I don't judge bands on wether they're in high demand or not. Those numbers I don't care about. It's the performance, the good hooks combined with the incredible instrumental skills and classical components, that I'm blown away by Muse. Opening-act or not, doesn't matter, for a three piece they have such a huge flamboyant and bombastic sound that, in my opinion, it blows away the legendary U2 sound on stage. I like 'em both though but the way Matt goes about is just more unique to me.

  • Word. Muse is way better instrumentally. Its always been one of U2's biggest criticisms, especially in their early years. They're just not the best instrumentalists (save the edge). They're solid now, but not phenomenal. However, the phenomenon of U2 isn't their talent; its something else...can't put my finger on it, but they really have changed the world of music. The biggest musical impact since the Beatles IMO

  • muse will take over U2 one day... U2's Time has gone =/

  • @bramster14 I agree that they aren't making the quality of music that they used to as far as 'songs for the ages' go, but they'll be selling out all over the world for as long as they choose to keep playing. Their older stuff is timeless and people will always wanna hear it. I doubt Muse will ever be as praised. I think Muse is SO so good, but their music feels more catered; I think only a specific audience will really appreciate their music. Its not for everybody.

  • so foolish. get real. Muse is incredible but your comment is just stupid.

  • @jiskefetisj

Meh... not really, but whatever you say.

  • @jiskefetisj Muse is my favorite band but I think it's innaccurate to say that they kick U2's ass. I mean lets be honest. U2 has been around forever and they have remained just as popular and great. Muse is what will take over the spotlight when U2 finally retires.

  • I wish I could find the actual video they did for this for the vmas. I love Muse!

  • That concert was epic. They are like Chuck Norris with an electric triangle.

  • worst crowd ever!! i would jump around, scream and shake my fucking head until i could...what a shitty crowd! they had MUSE in front of them...i respect U2, i don't really like them, but goddamm..it's MUSE!!!

  • exactly,id probably headbang till my head would fall of :s

  • i was doing that and i was the only one doing it hahah

  • man seriously , i wanna give you a 100 thumbs up this time , because you are RIGHT !

  • @kornverfield20 jesus its muse!!!! yeah i will shake my ass too!!! crowd suck!!

  • @kornverfield20 I muse dovrebbero fare i porta-chitarre a bono, che tra l'altro non è nemmeno un gran chitarrista.

  • 30 to 40 minutes

  • this performance is epic

too bad the crowd where a bunch of dicks

  • all of us inside the inner circle went nuts when muse came in.... we enjoyed it ALOT!!! it went berserk on every song

  • gay ass crowd and wat an intro i wana be in america lol

  • Muse are sooooo much beter than U2

  • my god what a fuckin shite crowd

  • Comment removed

  • THAT WAS THE SICKEST NIGHT EVER~!!

i'm very proud to say i was there :D!!!!

  • That must've been the greatest fucking show ever.

  • Oh how I will never get sick of the Dance of the Knights intro.

    It is always epic sounding.

  • They must have won a lot of fans over whilst touring with U2 in America. I mean, you dont even have to have heard of muse, the first time you hear them its gotta be instant love cuz... THEYRE F ING AMAZING LIVE.

  • Shit that crowd sucks.

  • what a boring crowd

  • love Prokofiev Romeo and Julia, bal

    can imagine them dancing

once have seen it in Warsaw

    without guitars though ;)

  • i fucking hate living in the states, and i'm in LOS ANGELES. it would be a miracle if muse ever came back here

  • you´re very lucky!!

think about you living in BRAZIL!!

and you will never complain again..

i hope you understand my english.. haha

  • wait til spring, believe me

  • I'm with you man, I'm from Seattle

    but,

Muse just said they're planning on coming back to the United States for their most extensive US tour ever at the end of March and February, there's hope

  • The crowd is almost embarrassing.

  • that was awesome!! i was there

  • MUSE! There is NO WAY Muse would support U2 in the UK... I dare say Muse are as big as U2 in this country in terms of album sales?

    Anyway, jelous. Muse are great.

  • Muse are number one sellers in 15 countries right now.. Including UK...

  • 16!

  • Muse are Huge everywhere else but America... lol and just THE US .... In South america and northern america they are huge too.. so its kinda depressing how drowned out by rap and shit The US really is xD

  • True that! I'm glad MTV finally gave them a little publicitay at the VMA'S. But still...ugh. They're like one of the only seriously awesome bands in modern music and America fails to acknoledge them. It's seriously pethetic. England has Muse and America has...Lady gaga...

  • hahah Northern America? I assume you mean Canada? No Muse is not huge here. They're getting bigger but they are not huge. I'm seeing them in Calgary in March. Last time they were here they played to a crowd of about 700 people. This time it'll be about 10 000. They're getting big but don't act like theyr'e fucking huge in Canada.

  • I meant america ._.

  • Muse has sold roughly 10 million albums world wide. U2 has sold almost 200 million. Ummmm.... not so close.

  • @Hallucination

I was referring to current sales. I'm sure The Resistance has outsold No Line on the Horizon in the UK, as awesome as U2 are.

  • Very true. I wouldn't be surprised if The Resistance did outsell NLOTH. Also I think Uprising was the #1 requested song on sirius alt nation on satelite radio for 2009 in North America. But I gotta love how someone gave me a thumbs down for the comment that Muse opening for U2 in North America was huge opportunity and it exposed Muse's music to a huge number fo people that might've otherwise never have heard of them. Deny it all you want people it's fact. You're too arrogant to realize it.

  • I was there.

  • I wish I could ever see them live..

  • going to see them tomorrow @ Fed Ex Field in DC its going to be my 2nd time seeing them live!! im going to be goin crazy if they play plug in baby

  • They put on a great show! Check out my High Def vid of Muse from both nights at Giants Stadium!

  • twilight fails!!!

  • they have nothing to do with Twilight

  • other than being one of the author's biggest influences... but you know whatever.

  • It's called "Dance of the Knights."

  • After Googling "igor stravinsky romeo and juliet," I found that it's actually by Prokofiev, but I still found it. Thank you.

  • Does anybody know the name and composer of the piece that plays as the introduction as they walk on stage? I've been trying to figure out ever since I heard it at the concert on the 24th.

  • Prokofiev - "Dance of the Knights" from Romeo and Juliette.

  • the beginning music almost sounds like the music they used in HAARP when they walked onto stage for practice (and Dom tripped)

  • yup, it is that piece of music :)

  • It is the same, that's why ;)

  • haha i knew it! but it sounded kind of distorted on the video so i wasn't 100% sure

  • lol

  • amazing! I hope they'll play that too in november!

  • does anyone know if the GA section is split into sections? is it easy to get to the front?? i'm seeing them in less than a week!!

  • yes the GA is split into two sections. You'll have "the pit" & the rest of GA. I think the best place is to get inside of the pit and stand in the BACK...this way, you'll get a nice view of the stage plus be real close when the band walk onto the catwalk...

i was in that position at giants stadium, and it was the best!

  • How did you get into the pit? What time did you get onto the line? Many thanks in advance! :D

  • I got on line around 1:30p, and there were already a few hundred ppl ahead of us. To be honest, my friend and I managed to move way up closer, to be around ppl that got there 11am!! There's an art to this, just rudely cutting a line will piss ppl off....

Once ur in the stadium, RUN straight towards the pit & claim that BACK rail! Every second counts -

    have fun :)

  • Thanks for that info. I wasn't there until 4:30PM because I was unable to leave earlier. My original plan was to be there at 2:30PM, but I was actually fine arriving when I did. Even walking in around 6:30PM guaranteed me a nice spot on the floor for recording audio (I entered the stadium late because I had to go back to my car to bring some extra audio gear back because the pat down looked too tight to bring in three audio rigs like I did at Fordham.

  • with that cameraman there, i'm hoping this concert gets a dvd release.

  • ...

  • That would be United States Of Eurasia

  • yes! Top 3 in Americaaaaaaaaa !

  • I was at this show on Wednesday. How cool was this song! These guys rock. I felt sad that the stadium wasn't that full at this point, and a lot of people there weren't really into them. I think I was more excited to see these guys than U2!

  • look at that amazing crowd!!

  • Am I the only one for whom this video and all the other ones from the U2 show aren't loading?

  • What music piece is that in the opening?

  • It's called America. It's from a 60's musical movie I think. It's very popular.

  • No, it's from West Side Story.

    #@!

  • Yes, it is. I've been lookin for it, but i never saw a name associated. Thanks!

  • U2 had a great stage, didn't they.

    Unfortunately it stopped there.

They certainly gave Muse the bones of the stage to play with, yet they did the better job.

  • wait so who did the better job? Muse? (hopes so! :D)

  • how early did u have to get there to get that close? im goin to the show on the 29th

  • I took the 3:30 train heading there (it was the earliest train), so I go there at around maybe 3:40 or 3:45. They let us inside not long after 5:30.

  • I was standing where you were and then I heard there was room in the oval. So I gave this spot to you (not specifically you just gave it up) and ran into the oval. As good as it was from your view it was a hundred times better in that oval.

  • That was you? Thank you so so so much for that spot (even though like you said, you wasnt specifically giving it to me). Thanks to you, I wasnt stuck behind this guy who I had a hard time looking pass. :P How was there even still room over there? I'd imagine that it wouldve been so full by the time our spot started getting filled.

  • Just kind of curious: how early did you get there before the doors opened to get that close?

  • I got there at 3. But once they opened GA people got in front of me. I just lucked out in that I met someone standing on line and they happened to find me and I got into the oval. He told me they were just letting people in.

  • We were there too...This is really up close, though!!

  • I WAS THERE LAST NIGHT! it was FUCKING KICKASSS!!!!! you're so lucky to be so close! i was up in the red seats:/

  • This is ossum.

  • A supporting act going on stage, when Dance of the Knights is playing is perhaps a bit pretentious...

    But fuck it, it's Muse!

  • all u U2 haters go f off, one band doesnt have to better then the other, they r completly different in terms of music style. U2 has been round for 33 yrs and r still making great music, putting on great shows and Muse know this, they wouldnt agree to open for a band that is not 'bigger' then them. If u asked Matt if hed take a 33yr long carrer which is as succesful as U2s hed jump at it and for the record U2 and Muse r my 1st and 2nd favourite bands and i cant wait til both of em tour Aus nxt yr

  • AAH !!I was there last night, only went to see Muse, spent 180 dollars for 50 minutes..worth every dime.

  • Thank you thank you thank you for putting this on. Wish I'd been there :)

  • i was in the front like 15 feet away from the stage!

  • *sigh*

People, stop fighting things like "which band is better," OK?

U2 is good, Muse is good too, they have different musical style, Why compare?

    Just enjoy the music!

  • @Kenshin11212, you sir, are a hero.

please, please, please upload the rest..

    cheers

  • Man I live so close to the stadium wish I got tickets I just hate stadium acts so long all day thing.

  • To Kenshin11212 (muser from muse forum lol):

Thank you very much for sharing this with us! In fact, I don't mind you sang through the whole of their set xD If I were you, I'll do the exactly same thing as you do!

Muse's opeing song is soooo cool xD

  • Thanks mate :)

  • i bet they were much better than U2, i still can't get my head round Muse being a support act :P

  • Have you lost your mind ? lol

  • Nope, Muse are the better band (in my opinion). Matt Bellamy kicks ''the edges'' ass in every single way and to play while singing how he does is just crazy :P

and i do realize that Muse aren't as big in the USA which is exactly why they're supporting, it just wouldn't happen here seeing as they could sell this size venue faster than U2 themselves :)

  • you have no idea what you're talking about thats all i have to type.

  • Comment removed

  • Do you really think they would have agreed to support them if they thought they were a better act?

    I love Muse...probs my 3nd favourite band..

but U2 are leviathans compared to Devons finest, maybe in 20 years.

  • 2nd!!!!!!!!

  • muse are superior to u2 in everyway but the most obvious being the amount of chords the guitarist know....edge about 3 if hes lucky.....the muse boys probably alot more than that....my dog knows more chords than edge, and i dont own a dog

  • I have a dog...she says your delusional...

  • Metallica once supported Ozzy Osborne on a stadium tour, and Metallica kept stealing the show during the entire tour.

Ozzys mistake? Maybe not. He knew what he was doing hiring a great, new band.

  • They are far better than U2, I agree with you. But U2 is so much popular than then.

  • Thanks for this :)

  • Amazing,thanks for sharing!^^

    Oh,Matty's red pants. :D

    Nice setlist. :)

  • Who gives a shit about you singing, as long as we can hear Muse :)

    Thanks for posting!

What songs did they play btw?

And were they only the opening act or did they do something together with U2?

  • I do! lol They did: America Hysteria Supermassive Black Hole The Resistance United State of Eurasia Starlight Undisclosed Desires Time Is Running Out Uprising Knights of Cydonia
  • Thanks for posting! Do you have more videos of Muse's opening act?

  • I recorded the whole thing, but I kinda ruined it with my singing lol I think the only one where you can't hear me singing is during Hysteria and Supermassive Black Whole. I'll upload them in a bit

  • I recorded audio of Muse using Neumann microphones. It sounds nice. Are you aware of a smoother video out there? Thanks for your recordings and for posting them.
