he did not promise that kind of change. I don't know what he is reading.
It was clear that Obama was running on a large government ticket. A large government that works for the populace and does not serve blackwater and war interests. Religious nut Conversatives backed by fiscal cons like CATO drove us to this point. A change is tone is needed. Obama is delivering that, now lets work positive to reduce the size of government. Mitchell should take a que from other great CATO experts, Calm.
Kenmoron, How did fiscal conservatives "[drive] us to this point", exactly?
By the way, an expanded foreign policy, which Obama is delivering, is good for Xi (Blackwater changed their name to something without a negative reputation - currently) and the military-industrial complex ("war interests", as you put it).
I think i said something different. I said that "Religious nut Conversatives backed by fiscal cons" I am saying that many fiscal cons as well as moderate dems helped bush create the largest government in US History. :-(
Expanded foreign policy does not mean military action. Yes Bush started these wars and yes it is only rational to end them in a reasonable manner. This will take time. And yes it make take a surge in Afghanistan.
This spending is all shadowed by massive entitlement programs >3
You should research your beloved Obama a little more carefully. He is following and expanding all of Gdubs failed programs. Now add taking over the health care, auto and banking industries. Where do you see any possibility of reducing the size of government B.O. wants the government to be as big as possible. And before you call me a neocon, I voted for him. I just realize that all his hope and change was a farce and he has done nothing but lie to the American ppl.
In fact, we could abolish all taxes save for the current level of Excises and Tariffs, and pay for ALL of the USA's constitutionally required functions and STILL have a nice surplus.
Bottom line, Government spends money in the worst way, typically...therefore, while necessary, it must be limited as much as is desirable (as measured by economic results).
theres a reason why no other country does this double tax crap, because its fvcking moronic

We don't need a tax rate that high to pay for honest courts, national defense, a stable political system, etc.

I think the "Bush-Obama years" terms is going to catch on.

Fifty years from now when history textbooks are written they'll be indistinguishable.

Doesn't quite roll off the tongue, but I think you're right.
