The Drozd is a rifled barrel and shoots 4.5mm lead balls. Same as a muzzle loader. With my 23" barrel and full auto mod etc it is pushing about 900+ fps. 4.5mm lead balls will not fit in the bore of a regular BB gun. The drozd is technically a pellet gun. Just saying. I own 2 storms both full auto. Eventually one trigger stopped working but the other is fine. Not worth fixing or getting another but a fun gun.
I took my steel storm apart, just took out the little screws and seperated the 2 gun halfs. I can't get it back together. Can you help with some kind of directions to put all the parts into the 2 halfs and get the gun back together?
@Oyez10 um no the ss is a toy plastic bb gun made very cheaply. but the drozd is not a toy. its built extremely well, not just some bb gun made out of plastic.

LOL, yes you shoot paper targets at a range. A firearm and a bb gun are the same? Shooting .177 steel bbs out of a smooth bore barrel, via electromechanical action, yeilding a 600fps velocity is the same as shooting a SF HK G3? Comon kid. The drozd is a TOY, so is the SS, nothing more. You are not practicing any "skills" other than shooitng a bb gun when you shoot the drozd. You just cant be a snob about it, thats all. Leave the SS owners be go shoot real guns to gain some PERSPECTIVE.

@Xxoo0o0o0ooxX They are both plastic toy bb guns. Just toys, nothing more. You just can't be a snob about these things. Go invest in a NFA weapon if you want to play with the highest quality toys. Anything else is just a fun little plinker and creating some kind of hierrachry for them is pointless.
@Oyez10 Baikal Drozd is not a plastic gun like the Umarex. Drozd is made from weapons grade polymer same material Glock makes there handguns from. If I invested in a NFA weapon where could I shoot it? I live in the city. I always practice shooting daily to keep my skill's sharp. & you are right out of all my high power adult airguns the Drozd is more for fun but sorry it is not a toy. I don't know to many people that would be happy about getting 30 BB's or .177 lead shot to the face at 555 FPS.
@Xxoo0o0o0ooxX thank you, exactly. this guy doesnt now what he's talking about. he probably doesnt even own a drozd. i dont even know if he's shot one
@Oyez10 There's a big difference between a SS and a Drozd, just as there is a diff between other airguns. There certainly is a hierarchy. Buying and shooting NFA weapons for most of what you're going to do with them (which is still mostly target shooting and plinking) isn't going to be much different than using a Drozd, but now you can't shoot daily or in the yard. You're suggesting to buy an NFA to shoot targets and bottles and cans (which makes no sense).
@papaburger Sounds good until you open it up. No you will not increase your velocity by adding barrel extensions or longer barrels. The storm fires its valve into an open breech. The magazine loading port acts like an obstructed vent. Increasing back pressure by having a longer tube just means more gas will flow out of the loading port. To test this I machined a 14" barrel for the steel storm out of 1018. My velocity actually went down due to the increased barrel/bb contact time
No tried this too. I adjusted my hpa reg from 700 to 1200psi. I achieved the same velocities with 800 as I did with 1200. a word of warning, higher pressures will stress the blow back mechanisim far too much for little or no gain. Simply, the higher the pressure blasted into the breech the more will escape out of the loading port and also the blowback system. Its just the way it was designed.
@Oyez10 Very true. They could have saved money and boosted the marketing value thus generating more sales and making more of a profit per unit sold. All by doing less.

I did this today and it works great. I would not recommend it for the faint of heart but it indeed works. Thanks for video....if people need help email me ray at drozdmax.com and I will try to help out.
OMG. So I got stuck with the notorious "No Return BB" that wouldn't stop rattling around in the gun, so I took it apart and got the bb out fine, but I can't get the long bb-folower spring back in it my life depended on it. Some help would be greatly appreciated; I'm not the only one with this problem.
cann any one tell me how to get the long spring back into the umarex steel storm its drivin me insane and i just wanna get back to shooting stuffff plzzzz someoneee hellppppp
There were two springs near the trigger, the smaller, stiffer one popped, I didn't find a way to install it that made any sense, put it back together without and it works like clockwork???
Considering full auto mod, it can't be that easy? "all related parts" Anything I shouldn't take out? I've already had a couple of small parts fly out (safety switch spring "clicker", fire selector "clicker" and some rectangular part on the back) I'm afraid I'll mess it up!
@aflipz It really is. The only things needed for the gun to operate is the sear (the thing that catches the hammer, the selector switch/cam (stops the sear from sliding aloowing it stay down and yield full auto), the trigger boddy itself, the single trigger torsion spring and the trigger reset spring. Thats it. All of the other stuff can go.
I took apart my umarex SS and the the spring for the magazine is just giving me a hard time. I know people take apart SS's a lot for mods and whatnot and I just am wondering how the hell do you stick the magazine spring back in?
Let us know when you have the bulk air and longer barrel all matched up ready to go, would love to see another video and maybe some stats on the actual velocity.
Can we see your lengthened barrel? And are you confident it will take 1100PSI without blowing up? stock barrel looks thin as a drinking straw! Correct me if I am wrong but CO2 at ambiant temps should be around 800psi, 300 extra PSI seems like a lot!
The barrel is not a sealed vessel. It will never see the full "regulated pressure". As the projectile travels through the barrel the gas expands to fill the ever increasing volume lowering the effective "working pressure" as it goes. With that said, even with the "soda straw type barrel you mention its actual burst pressure is in the neighborhood of >5Kpsi, its a non issue. What you do have to worry about is the valve's rated pressure.
But since it is spec'd for CO2, a gas whose pressure can swing >1000psi on a summer day and due to manufacturer liability constraints its not operating anywhere near its failure point. That said I would never take this kind of airgun over 1Kpsi. There really is no point.
@Oyez10 I just tried this mod and obviously did somthing wrong. Do you or anyone else have good clear photos. My bolt does not stay open so i must have removed somthing that should not have. the problem is i cannot rememeber how it goes back together. any help would greatly be appreciated. my email is mvonbeamer3@yahoo.com
@aflipz With CO2 it will be very noticiable. HPA really comes into its own with the high cycle rates of a gun like this. I have a 6" longer than stock barrel already installed and am almost finished machining my HPA adapter. I will be running 1K PSI via regulator and expect to see average veolocity in the 650 range.
@Oyez10 by machining do you mean making? if you ever get this done can you please post a vid! I would love to hookup my SS to HPA instead of crappy ol co2
@gamingplan Yes I am machining them out of 304L stainless and will mount onto the existing system, no hacking required. They should be available for sale in 2 weeks. I'll post a video when they are ready. I also have barrels on the way too.
I have 5 hard parts ( actually 6 one is screwed to the other) and 4 springs off. hope this is right.
